Chill / Heat metal... creature in remastered 2e

Rules Discussion

Disclaimer: Heat metal is APG spell. It's one granted spells for Oscillating Wave psychic, then Conservation of Energy to Removing Energy turns Heat metal into Chill metal(kinda).
---
Spell description says creature made primarily of metal, which metal elemental does...

Heard there is spell that adds metal trait to creature.

If creature affected by that spell was harmed by persistent damage from Chill / Heat metal, is persistent ends if creature no more having metal trait?

I would need the spell that supposedly adds the Metal trait to make an adequate judgement, but it might come down to GM Fiat

It depends mostly ob the question If the spell turns a creature into living Metal If she t can be Targets in the first place

But persistent damage is an individual condition, the spell causes it but doesn't further interact with it.
Basically since the spell is Instant and does not have a duration the persistent damage doesn't Care what the spell does and should Go on

Yeah, it would depend heavily on the how this theoretical spell that adds the metal trait to a creature functions.

I would say, that having a metal creature isn't much different than targeting someone wearing metal armor (they can't drop their armor). If someone has metal armor, I would target that rather than trying anything else (if your goal is to damage).

Regardless, if the creature was a valid target (even temporarily) then I would just let the persistent damage keep functioning. Even if it shouldn't work that way, spending a spell to make someone able to be targeted and then another spell to actually cause the damage with heat metal isn't a great use of actions. It's probably much more worthwhile to use some other spell directly.

I...don't understand your question.

Horizon Hunters

The only spell I can find that adds the metal trait is Ferrous Form, and that explicitly says you become solid metal, so Heat Metal would affect you as a full metal creature. It's a personal spell though, so you can't cast it on someone else to make them vulnerable to it. If you know the spell name you're thinking of, please share it.

I personally would have the spell end if the target is no longer made of metal. However, the best use for this spell is to heat up an enemy's weapon to make them either Release it and waste an action picking it back up (which also provokes a Reactive Strike), or take the damage.

That depends on whether your goal is cause damage or make them lose actions.

Casting the spell on a metal creature is the same (practically) as casting it on a creature wearing metal armor. It's going to cause damage. If you're casting a weapon, you're probably hoping the creature will drop the weapon because honestly that's more effective (probably) than just dealing damage if you set things up properly. Of course, opponents might also know this and decide to tank the damage anyways.
