Spiritualist equivalent in pf2

Advice

My fave classes in pf1 one were Sorc > Witch > Oracle > Spiritualist > Druid

As I’ve been getting familiar with pf2 I’ve found myself pleased with how some of these classes less so others (witch ) but I’ve not been able to find anything that feels like it provides what the spiritualist did.

What would y’all say was the closest one could get? I don’t necessarily mean just having a ghost friend (though that would be nice) but the sort of haunted aspect of the character with aura buffs and semi supporting spell list.

Spiritualist was absorbed into summoner. So the closest equivalent to the playstyle you describe would likely be a summoner with a devotion phantom; you get a spirit companion, area reaction, an aura, and the occult spell list.

Oh cool thankyiu!

I never though to check them, summoner wasn’t really my bag in pf1

Yeah PF2 "Summoner" is just PF1 Spiritualist but less martial.

yes I've noticed the weapons and Armour proficiency seem not great.

currently looking at how the devotion phantom works with a character chassis that seems to lend itself to being in the backfield, when the phantom's first ability relies on the character being attacked to get value.

As it advances obviously making it bigger seems like the move, for reach and eventually trample.

but early on you kind of want to be in the back and the front lol. slightly Awkward.

and it seems like you've got to get value cause you've got like 4 spells, so seems like your main gig is gonna be focus powers, cantrips and the phantom for most rounds.

Am I reading this right?

I like to call that "being in the middle." Luckily most cantrips only have a 30 foot range. Tandem strike is an option, albeit not an incredibly strong one. And you can also build ranged Eidolons.

I mean not really though, you’ve got to be 15ft from the phantom, that’s not really the middle, that’s right there, in the thick of it. In your robes lmao.

Almost makes you want to try to go melee with it but my instinct is to be more of a caster route. Although nah d baffle form spells could be fun. But not much of that on the occult list I feel like.

I’m thinking lost loved one background would be fun cause it’s cha/win and would be a nice explanation for the devoted phantom. Then build the character as like a support caster/focus spell/cantrip spammer.

If you are working with a 30 foot spell range, 15 feet is exactly the middle. It is also the middle if your eidolon is the front line.

But also, it is fine to be on the front line. You'll likely get hit with no armor but you need to take damage to trigger your reaction. You get 10HP a level. Buff your con, and take a hit every now and then if you want to trigger the reaction. Many AP maps have small enough rooms to where you'll need to be in that distance anyway.

Remember, you share an HP with the eidolon, so odds are that if they aren't attacking the summoner they will attack the eidolon instead and have roughly the same effect. The summoner probably gets crit more than the eidolon would but then in turn you get to deal more damage. And it's relatively easy to invest in secondary stats like con and dex without sacrificing Charisma.

You can also mitigate some of the damage by investing in scrolls/wands of spells like False Life, and picking up the Shield cantrip ... or just wearing a shield.
