So, I'm sorry, but my google-fu has failed me. What are the available backgrounds for PFS2? Is there a list of which books are allowed and which aren't? I'm wondering because some of the Aventure paths on archives of Nethys (which has been known to be wrong on occasion) say that the AP backgrounds are standard, but also uncommon. And no where can I find if any AP backgrounds are allowed anywhere.
If there is a ruling on this, I'd appreciate a link to an official post or whatever, just so I can show it to other GMs and such.

I've gotten access to uncommon backgrounds from boons on chronicle sheets after playing certain scenarios and APs.
The link to available options is >>Here<<.

The main reference is the Character Options page.
Of particular note, Standard and Uncommon, is not a problem. Standard simply means that PFS has not added any additional limitations to the character option and you must meet its normal requirements and have access.
For APs in particular, for PFS2, they've only been sanctioned through their Chronicles (different from SFS), as the PFS2 APs don't show up in the Legal Source list on their own.

In general, options of any kind from APs aren't sanctioned for PFS; they simply don't appear in the list of character options.
Typically, the chronicles for an AP unlock some of the options, although almost never the backgrounds from the AP's player guide. Those backgrounds are meant to tie you into the AP's starting plot, which isn't really relevant to PFS. (They don't seem to have used PF1's method of making the campaign traits more powerful than regular traits, but still.)
When it comes to uncommon/rare things that don't have an access condition, they're often left as PFS Standard, but since there's no way to gain access, they're still out of reach. No need to double-disallow things if they're already unavailable.

Archivesofnethys has a neat visual tool to help with this.
If you look at the Pathfinder Society Backgrounds, you'll see that most of them are marked with a blue-bordered Glyph of the Open Road symbol. These are all of Standard availability.
But a couple instead have a Decemvirate Helm symbol, indicating they're Limited; you need a Boon to unlock Access to them.
If Archivesofnethys has a little Red X symbol in front of the option, it's Restricted, and generally not available for play, except in maybe a clearly marked instance, such as one of the coveted Charity Auction Boons.
And finally, sometimes there's no symbol at all, such as with the Abomination Vaults Backgrounds. This simply means the source hasn't been added to the Character Options page.

That said, make sure you check for the *Uncommon* or *rare* tag, as well. That has tripped me up more than once.
