Returning to Starfinder: A few questions.

Hello there.

So, when I stopped paying attention people were excited about the Armory. So yeah, it's been a while. Would you be so kind as to answer a few questions and share your opinion?

1) Can I be ageless due to class feature? Not a race that's ageless, I mean like, can a human receive the "don't age nor die of old age". The only thing I remember had that was the capstone 20th level Mystic Enlightenment. Is there any other way I can make a human lasts forever (aka until killed)? Or any item/ritual that gives that?

2) Do we have rules somewhere to build our own planet/business/society? Kingmaker style, kinda. Are they nice?

3) Did they do something with the Solarian to make them stronger? It's such an interesting class, but I can't seem to build him correctly.

4) Same question above, but for the witchwarper. Such great concept, but the mechanics seem so... weird o.O Not bad, but definetly not good. You know? Is it just me?

5) How do you enjoy some of the more *ahem* unique races. Like, things that are nowhere near humanoid format. Do you guys use them? Do you charge different prices for accomodations and armor for things without arms and/or legs? If a humanoid enemy drops a nice piece of armor, can the blob of gelatinous flesh wear it normally?

6) A friend mentioned that there are new functions for the starship battles. I will say he is not the most trusted of sources. Is it true? Where are they (which book)? Do you use them? Do you like them?

7) I'm trying to return, would you say there is something I should look up? Some great new thing that made this great game even better?

8) Is there a way I can play with people online? Any community somewhere to play Starfinder online? Most of my old team isn't playing anything, I'd like to meet new people and play, you know?

Thank you very much for answering.

1) No

2) Charter Development

3) There are lots of Solarian variants. There's Lunar Solarians. There's Broken Cycle Solarians. Solar Flare (ranged) Solarians. etc.

4) People like to complain and dissect things like this is Final Fantasy XIV but I don't really see why a Witchwarper should be frowned upon as anything other than Reddit logic. If you're looking for a which-class-is-mechanically-best-class thread I'm sure Reddit or some of the theorycrafting threads will get into it. Maybe that's important in Society play to always be optimized but it's never come up for me.

5) You charge for modifications based on size. That's it. There are armor upgrades that allow you to mount weapons hands-free but these should be used only when the story requires it as they are ridiculously broken otherwise at level 1.

6) Starship Operations Manual. I use some of them when they come up. Yes, I like them. If you hated starship combat before, nothing about SOM is going to change your opinion about it (except maybe chase rules).

7) It's integrated on FoundryVTT. That was a huge plus for me lately.

8) r/LFG, Foundry or Starfiner discords, etc.

I think Leon did a good job of answering your direct question. To add to it since the Armory there have been 10 new rule books, so tons of new things to look forward to.

As for playing online, I haven't tried any of the VTTS yet but recently started doing play-by-post in the online campaigns section of these forums, and found it to be much more fun than I expected, very easier to get really deep into your character.

I think the only caveat is to #3.

Solarians are still and always have been one of the most powerful classes at pure damage dealing. Their tradeoff is they just aren't good at skills in general. If you are in melee you will take damage, but you will be dishing out damage as well.

1) The 20th level precog also doesn’t age. A 15th level Mystic with an epiphany can reincarnate people dead of old age (or a quick practical suicide) into a young body of their choice. But also the CRB society section says medicine is good enough to hold off age. It may not be quite forever, it may cost a lot (ask your GM), and it may not come up anywhere else in the game, but apparently no one ever has to die of age if they don’t want to and can afford it.

1) Can I be ageless due to class feature?

You can be ageless just from the baseline technology available in the setting.

The maximum age listed includes an element of randomness to reflect the capriciousness of death, and it is the assumption for the race’s longevity without magical or technological intervention—with the right life-extension technology, individuals of all races can become nearly immortal.

I have a ysoki named "mom" who makes a lot of mentions of something called "the 60s" ....

3) The soulfire weapon fusion to add charisma to damage made it a lot less painful to have charisma as a solarion

4) No. Still considered woefully underpowered.

5) If a humanoid enemy drops a nice piece of armor, can the blob of gelatinous flesh wear it normally?

Your party engineer spends an hour and some duct tape and bends it into shape. Modern production techniques make this a LOT easier.

6) For a slight modification to starship combat, the First mate has been added to make athletics and acrobatics useful in starship combat, and the magic officer was added so the mystic can do something. For a full retrofit, the starship operations manual added squad fighters ala star wars instead of star treks group ship setting.

8) Is there a way I can play with people online? Any community somewhere to play Starfinder online? Most of my old team isn't playing anything, I'd like to meet new people and play, you know?

(Just to say re: Point #1 - a level 20 Mystic also stops aging, and no longer dies of old age, just like a lvl 20 precog.
I also wouldn't be surprised if some of the Evolutionist niches have that, too, once it's out; although checking the playtest pdf, nothing had that for the playtest.)

Evolutionist, Sepulchral, Niche Metamorphosis (20th Level): Your creature type becomes
undead. You gain immunity to death effects and negative levels.

I would think becoming undead would stop aging or at least stop dying of old age. Assuming you don't mind being undead.

Getting to the 20th level seems to be a trend for not aging.

Other than that bit in the CRB that access to modern medicine means you live as long as you want too.

Well, most mystics start with a class feature regularly emulated by cheap technology, so its only fitting that the class ends that way...

Its the circle of life...

I tried the Foundry Discord server, but could not find any Starfinder groups.

How do you find Starfinder Discords?
