I am actually pleased at a Dead Gods hardcover. I *like* the AP hardcovers, they suit my interests much more than the episodic releases. Also, it might mean they will go back and revise the AP so it has less terrible of game balance. ;)

They will not. It's in the thread below the announcement. Maybe they'll update some of the monsters to the AA - equivalents. Some of the ones in Book 1 don't match their same in Alien Archive.

Yeah I really doubt that a re-release of dead suns affects scheduling of any other, new books.

I'm so curious as to what the reason is for the announcement taking forever. I really hope it's not because it's going to take a long time for the book to come out. The 2e dark archive playtest came after the evolutionist one, and dark archive is set to come out in August (barring probable delays from shipping).

okay, was looking through the PF2 setting books, how about this proposal:

A STARFINDER SOCIETY book? Something similar to what was put out detailing the pathfinder society for PF2. The various factions, history, adventures of the society; lots of gear, fun adventure hooks, player options, lots of Jinsuls, and a brand new class?

One thing that was mentioned in the post playtest evolutionist interview is that the book the evolutionist appears in was just about to go through copy fitting. Does anyone know if that might help guestimate when the book comes out? I have little idea of how book publishing timelines are

Ya I am betting PAIZOCON it will be announced then a short wait til release when GENCON rolls up. As long as the shipping delay bug does'nt get us.

Really hope the DS comp book does not take any slots, just an extra, or so I hope

Whelp, we got our answer. Interstellar Species.

I'm happy about the new rules for creating my own species (Space Centaurs here I come), but eh...I don't think we needed an "Advanced Species Guide" for Starfinder. It already has way more options than Pathfinder 2e.

However I WILL take the NPC list!

Other than Pact Worlds there hasn't been any NPC lists, something I criticized Near Space for. I know what a generic mercenary's CR should be, or a Hellknight, or Iomedaen. I have no idea what your average Vesk soldier's CR should be, or what equipment comes standard in their armed forces.

Wait where is this info from, how do I confirm?

On the Interstellar Species product page.

I saw it on facebook somewhere. Couple more months and we should have a blog post about it. Maybe.

Yup a lot of people were right on the money with their predictions. Very much looking forward to the book - just from the description it sounds like an alien archive book (but only player races) mixed with pact worlds and a dash of COM.

So unless they're announcing things out of order it sounds like we're only getting 2 Starfinder hardcovers this year. This, mixed with the every-other-month AP's makes me wonder if they're not winding down the franchise.

The september hardcover is the Dead Suns rerelease.

May = Drift Crisis
September = Dead Suns
October = Interspecies

Leon, they are not winding down the franchise. I'm still getting Starfinder freelance work.

No, that's filler in lieu of new content. By any metric, Starfinder in 2022 is going to get less content than it got in 2021.

I'm not mad about it -- I have everything they've ever put out and I'd like more, I'd just appreciate letting us know what their plan is. We've been left in the dark the past six months.

Rereleasing an adventure path as a combined hardcover is not an insignificant amount of work though.

We know what they're releasing for the rest of the year, more or less, so I don't feel like we're 'in the dark' now that we know what Interstellar Species is. Add on to that all of the refutations of "is Starfinder ending?!?!" that have been springing up for what feels like the past two years (I found these two from Aaron Shanks and Erik Mona on the Drift Crisis thread, but I'm pretty sure I remember more from others floating around in non-product pages, in the various threads on pocket editions, hypothetical Starfinder 2e, "is SF's popularity falling?", etc.) and I don't think we need to keep sky-is-falling on Starfinder.

I mean, yes companies can (and do!) lie, and yes the product line cannot continue infinitely so if someone kept saying "Starfinder is ending!!!" every six months, eventually they would be a correct stopped clock. But other than "volume of published content is slowing" (and aren't there, like, blog posts explaining why this is, and why it's not "lol we're pulling the plug"?) we have no reason to suspect they're ending the line.

(I do not intend to pick on you specifically Leon; there really seems to be a lot of "yep, Starfinder's dead" posts this year.)

It's significant layout and editing work, but unlike their PF1 compilations they've said they aren't doing any meaningful reworking of the story/plot or changes/additions to the backmatter. So there are development/freelance writing resources towards a third book that aren't being used on any announced project.

Perhaps they're just taking a break from their previously hectic schedule and putting a little extra work into the other two books.

I have a feeling this year paizo is giving employees a slight break, after all the issues last year. Even 2e is likely to only have 2 major rulebooks this year (not counting lost omens)

^ What Kishmo said.

They still need a "definitive" AP and adventure entry - something that would sell new players to the system and setting.

And Starfinder definitely sells less and has less players that PF2, it's no surprise they release fewer books.
