I've been looking over the alchemist (debating between it and staff magus) and I noticed this high level ability
Elixir of Life
Prerequisite: Alchemist 16
Benefit: Once per day, the alchemist can brew an elixir of life. This special concoction costs 25,000 gp to create and takes 1 hour of work. An elixir of life, when administered by the alchemist who brewed it, restores life to a dead creature as per the spell true resurrection. Alternatively, the alchemist himself may drink the elixir of life, after which point he is immediately targeted with a resurrection spell the next time he is killed. Used in this manner, the effects of an elixir of life persist only for a number of days equal to the alchemist’s Intelligence modifier; if he does not die before that time expires, the effects of the elixir of life end.
It only mentions duration for if an alchemist drinks it and I'm wondering given the HIGH cost to brew does it last indefinately if the alchemist doesn't drink it. So you can brew 1 and store it (in styrofoam and multiple layers of padding) to use if your out of other raise dead options or before going to fight a big boss you think might kill you.
it last until used, and then if used by the alchemist holds up for a few days.
note that there is a snag with this elixir - the alchemist must be the one administering it! (' when administered by the alchemist who brewed it').
so if you think your going to die and drink it . ether you saved your life or just wasted 25,000 gp. if you didn't drink it and the party relay on using it ,but you are the 1st to go down. they can't use it (until they get you back to life that is)
Well, Int mod days for the application yourself might span the entirety of level 16 to campaign end. But that depends on both the campaign (downtime, travel distances, maximum level etc.) and the party's speed (teleport, dependency on resting etc.).
