SkålCon 2021 will be held in-person at the Crown Plaza Minneapolis West on October 29th – 31st 2021! Prepare for some spooktacular games!
Our original dates for this year would have been one week after the newly scheduled GenCon, which wouldn’t work for a lot of our player base. The new October dates were what the hotel had available (due to a lot of other events moving to this fall for obvious reasons).
And if you’re unsure if you want to attend a physical event? No problem! SkålCon 2021 will have an online component as well, so you can game from the safety of your home!
Paizo's Director of Community Tonya Woldridge and Organized Play Coordinator Alex Speidel will be attending, and running premium charity tables! Additionally, we will have several authors running adventures they have written, both in person and online!
To sign up to GM or play, please go to SkålCon 2021!
As of today, GMs will be able to sign up for tables up to the number of tables that they have volunteered to GM!
Unlimited player signups will start at noon on September 15, 2021
We are implementing a COVID-19 policy, which includes:
- Attendees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
- Masks will be required at the convention.
- Attendees are asked not to eat food while in the convention space, due to masking. Drinks are allowed.
- Attendees are asked not to attend if they are ill.
- Attendees are asked to respect social distancing when not at their tables.
- Attendees can wear provided wristbands to represent their comfort level when it comes to physical contact.
Looking forward to gaming with all of you this year!

But it's bad ass! Just think of all the cool intros one could do?
Alright alright I recognize the smoke machine smoke factor miiiiight be an issue for some people. No smoke machine this year.
But... um... so... are we getting the pyrotechnic machine this year? I specifically put money in the "Blowed Stuff Up" budget a while back.

I mean, if that don't get you ready to run through a brick wall....
This one though, this will melt your face!

There is no risk of this happening.
This is a charity convention, and we will do nothing to make it harder for "Walletbane" separating you from your moneys.
You know what we could do, we hook up Walletbane with some speakers and have her walk around pumping up the jams. People will pay her to go away.

I'll be honest, if you have Walletbane wandering the convention with speakers, I'm totally going to make a donation for sound effect time with the speakers so I can save my voice for GMing (and playing)....

you know, the con is close enough to Dutch American Day or whatever the hell it is called when a Dutch ship recognized the inchoate United States right after we told England to "get lost, losers!" that you could fire off many cannons
Ah, good to see we were as much the conformist bastards then as we are today

Get hype people!
It warms my heart that we can raise money for Tubman during their HOPEtober fund drive. Let’s all pull together and raise as much money as we can, Mammon willing.

I am looking very much forward to seeing people in person again.
Hmm
I will be looking forward to seeing a lot of people I haven't seen in meat-space for nearly two years (or longer in some cases).
HOWEVER:
I will be rocking the heck out of a new fashion accessory known as the 'Red Band of Do Not Touch'.
It's going to be a challenging exercise to get used to being closer than six feet to people that aren't my family, in a restaurant, or in my workplace. Small steps. Despite that, part of the exercise is to try and get used to closer-ranged socializing that isn't the rantaboutcustomersdeleted.

I was looking at the sign ups, too. The number of people signed up would be considered a good turn out for a small lodge, like us in NOLA, but I've witnessed the magnitude of your community before. C'mon people, let's go!
*I can totally understand if people are still reluctant to congregate, but I miss it so much.

If it is a financial aspect, I would miss folks who saved the money from traveling to donate to Tubman.
If it's a worry about proximity during games, I get that.
I hope that some of it is the fact that there are other physical conventions on the same weekend plus Halloween.

If people are looking for a good scare on Halloween, I'll be there.

Wait... are you trying to frighten me?
...I've dealt with more terrifying things in my retail experiences the past few years than what you could dredge up.
No, that's not a challenge, please don't take it as one, I'ma gonna be trying to RELAX!

I'm just GMing two in person tables, and haven't really looked at what player seats might still be available. I think I'm a bit more into have downtime to just chat in person with people, its been a real long time since I've been able to do that.

I'll try to see if I can free up time for at least one online game over the weekend. One of these years I'll make the trip up with everyone, but my schedule wouldn't allow it this time.
