Synthesist Summoner and 2 weapon fighting and Dex requirements

Rules Questions

Read the posts on Synthesist and couldn't find an answer. My goal is actually simple. My Eidolon is going to resemble a praying mantis but instead of using the claws provided he's going to use Saw Tooth Sabers. He's an Oracle with a spell call Bone Flense the spell is brutal but has strict requirement to use. One is using a Saw Tooth Saber. His stats without his Eidolon suck since they are Heroic NPC. As a multiclass Summoner put his best stats into Mental his Eidolon for his physical.
My question is this. Without his Eidolon he can't qualify for Two weapon fighting, his Dex is only a 10. With his Eidolon it's 15. Can he still qualify for the feat? I'm willing to rule he can't use the feat without being fused. Which will be in most cases only two hours when he sleeps. Yes I own a Ring of Sustanence.

saying your willing to rule he can't use the feat without being fused(meeting the dex req) is literally what the rules actually are. if you have a feat and no longer meet the requirements it effectively turns off until such time as you once again meet the requirements.

as far as getting the feat in the first place, you need perm stat boosts to your dex to qualify(or just GM permission) in order for a stat to become a perm boost it must last for 24 hours. so if you get a belt of +6 dex and wear it for 24 hours you now count as actually having 16 dex until you take the belt off. if you level up during the belt wearing time you can take feat that req 16 or less dex. by the rules as far as i am aware this is your only way to get a the feat without multiclassing(ranger/slayer etc).

so you could buy a belt (or borrow from someone for a small fee?? npc maybe??) and then level up take the feat, you can now take the belt off and resell it or return it to whoever you borrowed it from and the feat will just turn off when your not fused.

You’ll need to talk it over with your GM. Officially, you don’t qualify for the feat, but those rules are already a little wonky.

In theory, if you stay transformed for 24 hours, then your scores count as permanent. So, worst case, you could use retraining rules to get the feat while staying transformed during that time.

If your GM is ok with you being synthesist in the first place, then hopefully he’ll be ok with some of the oddities the class brings up.

Can you use the fused physical stats to qualify for feats? Or must the synthesist use his own stats?
Just as a Str11 character wearing a belt of strength +2 bumps him to Str13 and allows him to take Power Attack, you can do this. You just couldn't use the feat without the belt/eidolon-suit.

Good to know for future ideas.

i wish they could write this stuff into the classes more, having to search through forums for a random post by a dev is the worst way to do it.

The problem is Pazio instead of just pulling the trigger on very questionable rules and cleaning up thier editing decided go second ed. I've glanced at it and went nope.

i played pf2e up to level 10, i hate it

In three campaigns two home brew one official still think first ed is the best. Just wish Pazio had just pulled the trigger on some things. The biggest one is do Kasatha get Multiweapon fighting or two weapon fighting and ignore thier lower two arms?

The feat rules say "Your character must have the indicated ability score(...) in order to select or use that feat." CRB pg. 112. So RAW, if you qualify at the time you select the feat, you can take it, irrelevant of how you qualify. There is nothing in the feat rule, nor in the ability score bonus rules that say temporary bonuses don't count for prereqs (it's not mentioned in what permanent bonuses do, either), and in any case, this FAQ says "Temporary ability bonuses should apply to anything relating to that ability score, just as permanent ability score bonuses do."

There are dev posts to the contrary, but only as unofficial forum posts; the written rules are this.
