In their entry in The Thirteenth Gate, selamids start off with Common and Selamidian as their languages. But given they're amorphous blob people with no discernable anatomy...um...how do they TALK?!

Seriously, despite their vibration senses to account for their lack of eyes, they don't have some kind of telepathy or sign language, so it must be assumed that Selamidian is a spoken language, despite selamids not appearing to have mouths or lungs to facilitate such

If you're playing a selamid character, what do you do?

They vibrate & expel air from their bodies in a way that produces audible sound, arrange said sounds in an organized structure to which they assign meaning, and use said organized arrangement to communicate thoughts & ideas with one another.

Yeah, but how would they GET that air inside them and move it in that manner? Again, they don't appear to have orifices.

They probably just stir themselves up a little bit so they can get air into their bodies for speech.

Their bodies are semi-permeable to air.

Sovereign Court

Or, they vibrate part of their skin like a speaker to generate the sounds.

It's easy, they just use their grooblutz.

Sometimes it best not to know.

It's basically just a hyper-advanced version of this.

Can you imagine people not knowing about the grooblutz? In this day and age? Ridiculous.

I don't blame them. Solids. They don't know any better. They've never had or needed a grooblutz in their entire lives.

Then again, they don't go out of their way to learn about the wonderful diversity of grooblutzes, either.

Ooze lives matter.

Just once I wish the cultural appropriation would go both ways, Draco. Sure, everyone polymorphs into an ooze. Great resistances, they say. No problem finding food, they'll exclaim. Do they once think that maybe an ooze wants to check out how fingers work? No. No they don't.
