So, my wife tested positive for COVID-19. We think she was exposed on Feb 28 (outpatient surgery) or March 10 (follow up visit). She was tested March 16 and received confirmation March 19/20.

March 13 she got hit like a bullet train with symptoms. Got progressively worse all weekend.

I self quarantined on Monday. I had gone to work the days between Feb 28 and March 16.

So far I have read a lot (CotCT in totus) as well as WotR (kickstarter got me all hype!), watched a lot of movies, and am staring at the large stack of books left unread. Our two dogs, two birds, and one lizard are keeping us company. Both kids are home as school is closed. Yes, I have children.

So far I am not symptomatic. We are operating under the assumption I would test positive so I get to hang out at home. Work told us to stay home starting March 18 with pay. Live better, work union.

Friends have responded with lots of love and offers of supplies. We are very fortunate in that regard.

I do not wish what my wife is experiencing on anyone.

Hope like heck your wife pulls through without horrible long-term ramifications and that you and yours continue to do okay.

Hopefully you've been exposed as well as the kids and the symptoms are passed.

I'd offer supplies, but we don't even have enough for the customers at work and there's been strong talk of closing and/or putting an armed guard on the customer restrooms (we've already had a couple of theft attempts on the toilet paper from them).

Thanks, Wei Ji.

I’ve had no symptoms. None. Seasonal allergies hit one and the other has Teenage Girl Affliction. She has self quarantined for most of the last year. :)

I hope your wife recovers quickly and that you and the kids stay healthy. I'm glad you've got such a great support network willing to pitch in and get you any supplies that run low.

Thanks, Zach.

My parents and brother offered to try and get us stuff even though they all live several hours away.

Talking with other people, we think the exposure happened Feb 28. There are enough cases of people getting sick who also had scheduled surgery the same day. This means there was a roughly 12 day incubation period before raging full on illness. This is also an imprecise measurement as her recovery from surgery was within this same time frame.

One dog is not handling us being home all day very well. She wants to bark at the manager everyday right around 2pm. I tell her to take her complaints to the bird and lizard. She gives me a pissed off harrumph bark and walks away. It is sooper cute.

A lot of my world gets done through Zoom now. My 3 y/o pit bull has decided that Zoom meetings are the ideal time to instigate play and/or snuggling. Of course he doesn't fully understand snuggling, so that often turns into him trying to instigate wrestling. He wants to snuggle, and when you catch him while already napping, he can be very good at it.

She hasn't already?

My daughter started warning us "She's almost a teenager!" Since she was two.

Of course, it still didn't prepare us (she's 15 now).

keep us posted. good luck to you

She Who Rules the Known Universe had a set back two days ago. Her lungs and surrounding tissue/corpus started to hurt quite a bit. No shortness of breath, per se, but if she moves to fast or forgets and moves at a normal speed, she gets a bit woozy. Sleeping is still a problem for her.

A new aspect of all this is her positive result for RSV. We are worried about this as it can lead to pneumonia right quick. It also almost killed The Boy Child when he was a preemie. She will need to avoid anyone who is pregnant or living with one that is pregnant. Which is a thing as we found out a friend of ours is expecting in August.

A gray day to live here in Minnesota.

Iron Man 2 on the hi-fi tonight. Sweet mercy did they miscast Justin Hammer. And I like Sam Rockwell!

I've been in a quasi-self quarantine for 22 days now. I can count on one hand how many times I've been closer than 6 ft to another human during this time (3).

I ordered an xbox one to play some co-op games with friends. It arrived yesterday, played some games on it. This morning, it crapped out and won't turn back on. So very annoying.

Hey, also in Minnesota!

I live very close to the airport. There's a long term parking lot for people who fly. Normally it's 80-90% full at all times. Rough estimate walking past it's about 25-30% full. The hotel across the street from me normally has about 100-150 cars in the parking lot, but it's down to less than 10.

Lamb, I'm so sorry to hear about your wife. I truly hope all comes out well.

My 26 y/o son lives with me. He lost his job last Monday at the restaurant where he worked because of the virus and his band has had every gig they had booked up until May canceled, and they had been booked for two shows every weekend all over the southern U.S.

I honestly fear he's not taking this seriously enough. I've tried to talk to him about it but he just blows me off. I'm in a very high-risk category and I just can't get that into his head. I might be about to ban all incoming visitors and restrict his movements. He won't like it but I pay all the fargin' bills. ALL OF THEM. I'd say I have leverage.

Like the Captain says, do it.

This is slightly more important than his hurt feelings.

I put a moratorium of sorts on visitors today. One person only, no more than an hour. My son didn't like it because he was going to ask his gf to spend the rest of the weekend here. I'm going to re-evaluate and may stop all of it.

Thank you. Everyone. I am feeling much better(despite a guitar related injury). I can honestly say this virus is awful and I hope no one else gets it. I did leave the house today so that’s a huge thing!

Stay well.

The guitar rolled a Nat 20 on its trip check.

I don't know either of you but I've read many a post over in the PFS section from Leg (and also 'heard' many a story from Hmm, BretI, and others about Minnesota gamers) and the handle 'pickleboot' makes me giggle for some reason. Glad you're both hanging in there and that pickleboot is feeling better!

And watch out for those guitars, they're sneaky like that.

Glad to hear you're doing better and keep taking care of yourself!

From the little bit I've heard this thing like to make return trips a few times before it works out of the system.

Getting a bit worried as I am slowly losing my ability to smell. I am not sure if this is simply nose blindness, but we made an amazing nightshade vegetable free curry in the slow cooker today that I could not smell.

I can not get sick. I am indestructible.

I'll pray for your safety and your family especially your wife who is struggling and doing her best to fight Covid 19.

All we can do for you right now is to pray and care.

Always sanitize your home and everything your wife or even your family touches.

As for your stay at home if you are going to work better improvise a workplace and pc for work where you can be comfortable. for reference: https://www.adorama.com/alc/6-tips-to-help-you-work-from-home-more-effectiv ely

We can all survive this pandemic.

That's one of the frequently reported early symptoms of Covid-19, yes.

It usually ends within a week or two - well before the infection is gone.

Yep, thus the slight apprehension. The ol’ nose works up close but not as well at distance like it normally does.

Word. Im chillin in the Windom neighborhood. Hope you and your family are doing well! Dont know if you use delivery service or are still shopping, but I can give a little advice.

East Side Co-op had a meat dept. employee recently test positive for covid-19. They seem up on their game with cleanliness and social distancing, but heads up on that.

Little India market has great specialty items, but as far as I could tell, they had no social distancing going on. Store was absolutely packed with customers. Employees had gloves, but that was it.

The Quarry shopping center Target and Cub are pretty well stocked. If you hit the stores early AM you can find paper and sanitized products. Also, if one store is out of items, the other usually has some. Convenient having them both in the same lot.

Take care my Homies!

Audubon Park!

We live one block south of the park.

We loaded up on supplies right before she got sick. Had one supply drop and I was able to get out for some grub this weekend.

If you’ve seen a Grizzly Adams looking mofo walking a small black and white dog, it was prolly me.

Also hoping that SkalCon is a thing this year. A few of us from NOLA would love to come up there this year. We all need it.

Hey hey Walter! As far as I know our little con should be on this fall. With the cancellation of PaizoCon, there are a few international peeps attempting to repurpose their tix to visit us.

How are you handling everything?

We are officially out of quarantine. Pickleboot does not show any symptoms and sounds much better than three weeks ago. No cough, no fever, no chest pain.

Today (April 7) was totes gorgeous here so we had a picnic and enjoyed the sunshine. People and dogs walked around Lake Nokomis and everyone was smiling. Two 5-8 Club Jucy Lucys were consumed (bleu cheese, with bacon and fried onions). Why 5-8, instead of Matt’s? Sweet potato fries and no paprika (Pickleboot is allergic to nightshades along with having Celiacs).

Today was a reminder of what life can be and what it should be. Slow, relaxed, enjoyable.

I prefer the 5-8 too. Though, once in a great while I have a craving for Matt's.

Glad to hear things are looking up and you get to enjoy some of the nice weather here in MPLS!

The University of Minnesota is conducting various clinical trials related to COVID-19. I am going to investigate whether I can be a test subject or help in some way; I live and have close personal contact with a confirmed case and have not exhibited any symptoms. And I’m in a high risk category as well! So, I’ll need to make some calls soon.
