I love the flavor of the increasing curse effects, but they do seem as though they might take the oracle out of play pretty quickly. I think the question is whether the trade off is worth it compared to focus spells for other classes. Other classes don’t have a downside to using their focus spells, but given the potential for one extra use when going nova, if these turn out to be disproportionately powerful in play they could be worth the curse effects.

Why would it not be good game design? For one thing it's something you can opt into, it's not at all forced upon you. And you can only activate it when you're going down anyways. Plus it's a very high level feat, at a point in the game where death often isn't a major concern (and if it is you can just opt out of the feat).
all the curses are pretty tough. I don't like that you get these revelation spells, but the system is set up so that you would never want to cast them.
The curses all have benefits associated with them too. I think the risk/reward associated with them is really good. If they weren't dangerous, they wouldn't be compelling at all.

Gotta combo it with the Life curse that gives you re-rolls on everything.
But yeah, overall, I don't think Oracles are gonna be casting many more Revelation spells than other classes use focus spells (1 per fight), though they do have the option to do so at the cost of crippling themselves. The -2AC on the battle one is pretty annoying since you definitely want to use your focus spells every fight.

The life one sort of violates the first rule of being a healer. heal thy self first. I like the class idea principal, but punishing a class for doing what makes the class different seems counter productive and unfun. I can see how it would work really well in a novel, and would make for great reading but it doesn't seem all that fun to play. but I will see this weekend when I get to play test the life oracle..
