What do you recommend for the Society \ Pathfinder Lore DC at the very beginning of the adventure.

Probably a good question for the GM Discussion Forum.
I'll flag your post to be moved over there ^_^
I used the standardized DC's for the level.

I'm not really fond of this solution; I don't see a reason why the knowledge DC should be harder for the higher level characters sitting at the same table.

The level of the adventure not the character making the roll.
Subtier 1-2 = 15
Subtier 3-4 = 18
I just used the simple DCs on page 503. I figured this was an Untrained roll, as These are all people in the Pathfinder Society, that the PCs should have known all of them.
Also, remember, Janina could just tell them all that they need to know, regardless of the rolls. I actually had one table ask her to do that.p (which she was VERY excited to do)
All the other information gathering checks use the DCs mentioned by Blake's Tiger as well.

My group definitely Crit Failed and immediately recognized Drandle Dreng in disguise as a human man with a beard.
A more appropriate Crit Fail might be to misremember the person's interests or personality.

I was successful in corrupting the notable NPC's interests on the Crit Fails, and it was slightly gratifying watching some players weave it into their RP and really push it hard. I gave an appropriately befuddled or offended expression so that others didn't try the same tactic when they hadn't "earned" the -2 penalty.
Also, if Janira tells them, they don't get the +2 to their check, but it is completely expected that Janira tells them what they don't know.

Ah, the DC's missing. Let's go with DC 15 in general, or DC 10 for faction leader NPCs if the PC has the faction's Champion boon.

But isn't the roll for the other people (non-Major Faction leads) who will be at the party -- so the faction champion bit would only affect the two minor factions?
Remember, they can still ask Janira. She’ll know them all, and can tell them anything they need
