2C and Scenario 2 rewards

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

Do you have to use your Hero Point earned from 2C before you gain your Role Card from finishing Scenario 2, or can you gain your role and then add a feat?

Unless that was changed: all rewards are gained simultaneously and YOU choose in which order to apply them.

Yeah, in the rulebook, it's all in a paragraph that starts with Next, so it seems like it.
However, all Role feats are Power feats, correct? So if I get my role card after 2C, I can only have 2 Power feats anyway, which I've already taken as my standard Power feats, so it doesn't matter, anyway, correct?

There's no such thing as Role feat, AFAIK - there is Role Card and there are Power Feats (which you can check on the Role Card after you have gained it).

However, if you have not spent Hero Points for your second power feat by 2C - you can then immediately gain your second power feat straight on your Role Card! (imho)

Hi. I have a question about receiving cards as scenario rewards in general.

Adventure 1* indicated specifically that we draw a level 1 boon. Other scenarios, such as 1C haven't specified a level.

Does this mean that when claiming the reward for 1C, we may draw cards above level 1 and cannot include them in our decks?

Correct; you may draw level 0 boons, level 1 boons and (due to the unusual particulars of the Dragon's Demand vault) level 2 and 3 boons. The Rebuilding rules are clear you cannot use these cards, if so.

That said, 1C can draw you quite a lot of cards.

Thank's for the reply. I asked because we drew not a single level 1 boon lol.

You say TDD's vault setup is unusual. Can I expect more boons at or below the adventure level in Curse?

In every other Adventure Path (except We Be Heroes?) you only include boons up to the Adventure's adventure deck number/level.

You only include the other boons in Dragon's Demand (and other Adventures designed for use with just the Core Set) because there aren't enough in the box otherwise.

In Curse, there are always only the cards with level <# in the Vault. In Core - Dragon's Demand, you have to have all 2,3 cards in the vault so you can have at least some variance, because there are so few cards in the Core box...

Of course, you can play Dragon's Demand slightly differently, with Core+Curse boons (and banes) of levels 0,1 (later +2, +3) - I have to try it one day :)

Edit: Parody is Ninja :).

Thanks, guys. That improves my opinion of the game somewhat. Looking forward to playing Curse, as its cards seem a whole lot less generic than those of the Core set.

Has there been any indication that Paizo may reprint old PACG content? I understand that older sets and accessories are still somewhat compatible, but it seems awfully fiddly.

I am not 100% sure, only 98% sure that they won't reprint old PACG content (previous adventure paths) in new terminology. Just because the conversion guide is quite sufficien and it would take a lot of resources better spent on new content. They might reprint / update some of the older class decks, but I don't know how probable is that, either.

That sounds reasonable. I'm just a little apprehensive about Paizo's launch and support of the new core set. I understand that backwards compatability is the best move for them, but I didn't enjoy the older sets at all, so this soft relaunch feels wonky to me. Keeping up with errata and conversion on older cards is pretty inelegant, so I'll feel better once they announce more new content.

It is my opinion that Paizo/Lone Shark sees insufficient monetary value or demand in reprinting or re-releasing old PACG sets.

In my opinion, I think it's possible we'll see "V2" Class Decks for the Core classes, if Core/Curse and PACS remain sufficiently popular. However, 'reprinting' RotR, S&S, WotR and MM seems a very large and high-risk business proposition that, among other things, could wear consumers out by sheer volume of product (and cannibalize remaining sales of the actual already-printed sets out there).

Keep in mind PACG remains - especially compared to the RPG - a niche product.

(On a more on-topic note; if you own Curse, I personally advise you just mix the Curse boons and banes into Core, and never add higher boon levels to the vault than your current AD#. I cannot find a compelling reason to shuffle in boons of a higher level than you're actually allowed to use in your deck, except if it's needed to play the game. It's not needed if you own Curse.)

(Even in PACS/Organized Play, Sanctioned Play Dragon's Demand explicitly states to build the vault only with boons of a level up to the current Adventure number. Since players are bringing their own boons via Class Decks in sanctioned play, there's no need to have the wonky setup rules being discussed in this thread.)

Fanghorn Thieves uses all level 0-3 boons in the vault. In a game that I observed, this actually made scenario FT-1C impossible to win.

the sorta-funny details:
The Chambers location makes players shuffle in boons that aren't acquired, and players are forced to search and acquire an ally from their location before being allowed to close. The only remaining ally in the Chambers was a level 3 Raccoon, which no one could acquire because its check was too high: Wis/Surv 12. (It was a low-wisdom and no-survival party.) So that effectively ended the game.

** spoiler omitted **

Hillarious, but happened to me as well

Spoiler:
What on Golarion is going on with all the Raccoons in Chambers? Our first playthrough in Dragon's Demand 1C scenario, we encountered the same racoon ~ 8 times in that location. Fortunately, we were not required to defeat it. It just got in our way every time we wanted to meet the henchman (or even the Ghoul hiding there)…
