Characters you wish you could play?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

I don’t know about you guys but I know I get a lot of joy from working out characters and builds and such but then never get to play them or at least not most of them anyway so I was wondering, do any of you have a character you never got chance to play that is a dream? So above is my dream character, she’s a she, her name is a secret for reasons unknown. The idea was to create a walking talking primal magic event. I went Oracle because spellscar Oracle is the easiest way to pop primal magic events all over town and I like charisma based characters.

On top of creating primal magic I wanted her to be able to turn off other people’s magic hence all her feats are geared towards dispelling, and it turns out pretty good too, her caster level is crazy high for dispelling to that should go off, then they have to make a save, assuming they fail, they’re stunned and their saves are lowered and they lost a buff on them. So combat winning bebuff, If they make the save they get double save debuff so a second spell should finish the job.

The Samsaran race is to pick up some nature themed spells, because I think being able to tap into nature magic makes sense for a walking talking primal event. It’s like she’s full of primal life energy.

I was going for an anti magic chaos bubble and I think I love the end product so much because everything figures in so well, even the traits just landed themselves so well.

Grand Lodge

I'd love to be able to play a viable Oozemorph Shifter without having to houserule half the class features to work properly.

I like Oozemorphs too haha

I think generally i just read them on a surface level and understand how they should work based on that, as long as I don’t nit pick too much they make sense.

I think they’re actually a really fun idea :D I have my own character set up for them, but he’s pretty simple and would not be the golden boy this post was meant for.

I'm still waiting for a character to die in a campaign right at level 6 so I can be an oozemorph without serious problems (and then take the rest of my levels in something else.)

Considered discreet suicide?

I want to play a girtabilu. Or a snake-bodied lamia type. Something non-humanoid. Sadly I don't seem to have a lot of opportunity for that at the minute.

based on your stat locations I thought you had an 18 str and had dumped cha to 12...

2 people marked this as a favorite.

I want to play a 'True Believer' aka Obsessed Stalker Fanatic, but its difficult without the proper PC to be the target.

Ideally I want a squeaky clean, too good to be true Paladin to follow. And I want to be his childhood friend. The kid that always followed him through his trials and tribulations. The guy with the encouraging words. The guy that always had the right thing at the right time. The guy that smooths the rough bumps on the road.

He now calls himself a squire. Dresses in a big wool coat. Just kind of a background character. Seems to just blend in.

Except when the Paladin isn't around. Then our boy starts getting to know who is who and what they don't want others to find out. Gathers dirt. Gets to know the criminal element. Gets to know who is disposable and who has real influence. Never know when it will be convenient to help our friend catch some bandits, or how to squeeze an influential pillar of society for a contribution to a 'righteous cause'.

Chaotic Evil means you're selfish. You do what you want, because you want to. In this case, the thing our boy wants is to make his friend into a legend. To do the dirty work that needs to be done so his friend can keep being the good guy. Someday he'll take the fall for his friend, because that is what friends do.

A Fighter-7/Alchemist-X...
Fighter:
Opportunist Fighter/ Mutagen Warrior
Alchemist:
Vivisectionist

Any race you want, any weapon you want, plus TWF w/ Bombs and you have Wings...

And Sneak Attack...

................................

Gestalt Arcane Duelist Bard and Paladin...

................................

What I literally am playing now (starting at level 9):
Elf
Inspired Blade Swashbuckler-1
Katta Master/MoMS Monk-4
Hooded Champion Ranger-1
Kensai Magus-3...+X
Deeds galore with sword and bow and unarmed strikes, Panache/Ki/Arcana interchangeable (eventually).
Panther Parry/Crane Riposte being the goal.
This is going to be a lot of fun...

I want to play a Good Witch that has a backstory of traveling the countryside of healing the sick, and has a garden behind her house utilizing the feat "Cultivate Magic Plants."
People would knock on her door and yelling at her for being a evil witch, but all she wants to do is help people.

Fighter 1/Alchemist x: pick up extra arm twice at level 3 with a discovery and a feat. Use a polearm, shield, and still have a hand free for bombs. Make gratuitous use of combat reflexes while boosting str and/or dex with mutagens and extracts.

Undine monk 1/druid (menhir savant) x: grab the water domain and beacon of faith trait to be able to add up to +4 caster levels to my water domain spells.

Gunslinger (bolt ace)5/alchemist: one again, extra arm twice. This time we're going to dual-wield light crossbows using the extra arms to reload them.

Cave druid 6/barbarian 4/druid x: shaping focus to keep the levels at max, wild shape into a carnivorous crystal, smash the target with furious finish for 200 points of damage as a standard action (more with improved/greater vital strike).

Paladin 2(or4)/Ninja (scout)(unchained?) X comboing smite plus sap adept/sap master.

Synthesist summoner going for earliest possible access to the dimensional agility feat tree.

Hexcrafter magus: spell combat true strike (from a wand ideally) and combat maneuvers with the whip in addition to hexes for debuffing and rime frostbite for dps+more debuff.

human Cleric of Gorum: channel negative energy, grab channel smite and guided hand at level 1, destruction and strength(ferocity) domain; feats include power attack, furious focus, and vital strike line. All together you hit them once per turn for massive damage and base both your casting and attack rolls off wisdom.

Variel uses his Elf +2 to Caster Levels to overcome Spell Resistance, and the Magical Knack "Magus" (Magic Trait) to somewhat make up for the multiclassing.

His quasi-effective Caster Level to overcome Spell Resistance is his character level-2...

The Wayang SpellHunter (Regional Trait) for Snowball, starting at level 3 Magus, for the Close Range Arcana... which doesn't have Spell Resistance anyways, and can leave them Staggered.

His pursuit of Panther Parry/ Crane Riposte has left him without Intensify Spell at his starting level of 9, but he should make up for his lack of Magus stuffs with his Panache/Ki/Sword/Bow/Unarmed Strike/Panther Claw/Crane Wing... still has Monk's Robes, TWF, SpellCombat, and Spellstrike, thusfar.

And 11 more levels of Kensai Magus, if Variel lives that long. Campaign is going to level 20, regardless of who survives...

I guess my most current character is actually the character I wish I could play most.

I fantasize dozens of characters into existence with ease, dropping Variel into my latest Campaign is both my highest and favorite of character priorities...

I never would have wanted to suffer through these actual levels in progress, but getting to play this character, at this level, is enticing...

This character sounds amazing but I think he would be true evil, you say chaotic evil is selfish but he isn’t really selfish he’s more like stalker levels of obsessed with the paladin.

I normally don't make human characters but this one seemed interesting.

A Shoanti warrior who is a skilled tracker, and master of the Earthbreaker. Restless and constantly needing to move decided to take up adventuring.

This would be an Unchained Rogue (swashbuckler) with dips in Fighter and Barbarian.

The idea was to use Canny Tumble, so she use acrobatics to move in and attack. The mix of feats meant sap master, furious focus, power attack, vital strike, and rage.

That specific build was very satisfying. High strength and dexterity is versatile, allowing a bow to casually be used. The rogue levels also means lots of skills, which I like in a character.
