Tomax and Xamot were the evil twin brothers from the 80s G.I. Joe cartoon. A character in Shadow of the Colossus is called Dormin. I felt there ought to be a secret there. One day, I figured it out!!! ... only to forget it. I tried to find a relationship to the Dorm root, sleep, but no. Was it a bad R/L translation, possibly connected to dolmen?
Figuring it out again: It's Nimrod backward.

Eh wanna hear a fun fact docs?
The name Nimrod refers to a great biblical hunter. Bugs (the bunny) was using it sarcastically but people thought it meant idiot so there you have it. The nimrod effect.

Oh, I was aware. :)
It always annoys me when I don't realize a word spells something backward. And the reason I sought to find this one was likely that I felt Dormin was too cute for the character. Note that sleep, dolmen and hunter fit more or less perfectly.

One of the Nimrod's I know is a swedish transplant and the other is a friend's son who was named after the Green Day album.
Kermit is a friend from high school's little brother who was named that because his mom was a bar whore and ran out of other names that began with K by the time she had him.

That Kermit does not have as cheery a story as the one I knew.

Fuzzy Wuzzy had no hair.
Because as a bear he has fur, not hair.

Am I the only person who took apart the twins and rearranged their bits such that they were no longer mirror images of each other? I wasn't much of a G.I. Joe fan, but when I accidentally broke my Baroness's right arm off, I bought a Cobra B.A.T. and put both it's arms on her. Her new left arm could swap out for a claw and laser gun, making her a much bigger badass. (Even 5-6 yro me thought Destro was a doofus.)
Edit: An inquisitive 5-6 yro with a small set of good screwdrivers will take apart everything she can get her hands on. I still owe my Mom a replacement electric carving knife.

My mom once made the mistake of telling me that my uncles knee didnt work right because it had a screw in it.
My aunt didn't even know she had that screwdriver...mom thought I brought it with me.
I was stopped in time. Mostly.

The Arthropoids in Mortasheen are based on The Fly, but with a wide variety of different types of bugs. I'm surprised it took me months to realize that.

Now I only saw it a week ago, but the aquaman parallels with king Arthur were pretty strong. I just noticed what that aqumans first name is...

Nimrod is also in Dante's Inferno (the book not the game), where he is portrayed as a giant. That might be why they named a colossus that.
