With Authorization Spawning set to start in 10 days for the month of October releases, I'm still in the dark about how the Kingmaker Incentives--the Earth & Water Elemental--will be included. Can somebody please shed light on this for me?
My Pathfinder Battles subscription is marked to always include the incentive piece. But this time, I don't see it anywhere in my Upcoming Subscriptions section for October products under the Product Schedule section. I realize that these are not set in stone, but in the past the Incentive has always been included.
I assume this has been left out due to the need to split the Huge Water Elemental and Huge Earth Elemental into their own individual box, respectively. But how will this work for us? Will both Huge Elementals be available to us as counting as one Incentive piece? Or will we have to pick and choose which one we want to count and then pay full Pathfinder Battles Subscriber price for the other? Will you be able to ship both incentives together, or will you be splitting them up into two distinct shipments, on top of the Kingmaker and any other subscriptions we have? Has the cost of the two incentives--in conjunction with each other--gone up?
I'm certain this is pertinent information that many of your Pathfinder Battles subscribers would like to know. Maybe you've included this information elsewhere and I completely missed it. The only thing I can recall is being told we--as Battles subscribers--would have a chance to purchase both Elementals as part of our incentive deal. I believe the details were still being worked out at that time. But that was in a Pathfinder Battles Preview, and it's been several months. And again, the Order Spawning Date is in 10 days.
This information is important for people to know so they can move their money around, if necessary. It's also important for customers like me that now use store credit for all their monthly subscriptions. I need to know how much store credit to purchase to cover everything. I know the Upcoming Subscriptions section is not set in stone, and can sometimes be wonky before an order actually spawns. But it's also very valuable because it at least gives me a ballpark figure--including the applied shipping costs--for how much store credit I need in order to be fully covered. But at this point I'm not even sure how much the additional Incentive piece(s) will cost me, and how that will affect my shipping costs.
Please, can you figure out the answer and share it with us ASAP? It's frustrating enough to see that the majority of the online third-party stores have already sold out of their first wave of Elemental incentives. But I'm actually worried I won't even have a chance to secure the two highly sought Elementals from Paizo, even as a Pathfinder Battles subscriber. And that's in addition to being in the dark about the cost, the shipping options, etc.
Sincerely,
Pigraven

In addition to my post above this one, do you have the street date for the Kingmaker miniatures? The best answer I've found has come from a third-party website that lists it as October 24. I realize the current street date for Paizo Products is a week earlier, October 17th. This might have an effect on whether people want their Paizo product subscriptions shipped separately, or held and shipped all at once, correct?
If memory serves, the Battles date is likely controlled by WizKids. But I would imagine you'd have confirmation coming soon enough. Hopefully you can pass the information alone when it arrives.
Thanks in advance for any information you can share with us.

To answer your questions:
Street Release date is the 24th of october.
Vic Wertz wrote that you'll have the option to choose one or both of the incentives.
The problem seems to be, as far as i can see it, that there are no product pages created for the case incentives yet...
Marco Massoudi |
I found the blog where Mark Moreland, Vic Wertz & Sara Marie commented on the incentives:
Vic Wertz wrote:
"You'll be able to purchase one or both."
Sara Marie wrote:
"We will automatically generate orders for new releases including the incentives in the subscription line until you choose to cancel."
Suggested retail price for the case incentives is $34.99 EACH.

I got an email about an upcoming subscription that I don't have. Was this email sent in error?
If it's the miniatures sub, I'm in the same boat. I just got an email telling me I'll have an order, but I haven't been a miniatures subscriber in 2 years.

But wait, there's more:
"• Order Creation: Thursday, October 27"
The order is going to be created weeks after it ships?
I have a HUGE problem with this shipment. There's been discussion and zero response from Paizo. I don't know what I'm being asked to buy. Since when is this a thing that Paizo lets happen?
We need to be have the rest of the minis in this Pathfinder Battles case revealed before you charge us a very large amount of money.

We recently sent and email regarding the newest Pathfinder Battles miniatures set to all subscribers instead of just Pathfinder Battles subscribers. We apologize for the error and any confusion caused. You can check your subscriptions on your My Subscriptions page.
Sincerely,
Sara Marie

Fair enough, and yes, I got the correction e-mail. So thanks for that.
So... about the invisible elephant in the room that nobody wants to talk about...
Could someone please poke Mark Morland and see what can be done about this unprecedented sight-unseen product being sold for a third of a thousand USD?

I apologize if I sound angry; it's more that panic is setting in, because I'm unable to be an informed consumer. I'll hope that tomorrow is a better day.

Sorry, We've been focused on September's subscriptions and I missed the new posts for October.
The Battles subscribers will get both the Earth & Water Elemental. I'll see if we can get the product pages up for those.

It appears, as per the email announcement (and as previously stated), we will get both incentives--so consider me relieved!
However, these incentives are still not showing up for me in the My Subscriptions section. It's still showing only the case itself, listed at the $279.99 Paizo Advantage price. (The Maps, Tiles, Campaign Setting and Adventure Path are all there, too.)
Each Incentive is listed at $34.99 on their own product pages, respectively. This means the combined Incentive charge for the two Incentives will be about $17.50. (per the 75% off Incentives discount).
My question is simple: Is it an oversight that this $17.50 charge has not shown up already with the rest of the chargeable items for October? Or is this something that will be added only after the order itself has spawned? In the past, the Incentive piece HAS shown up for me in the Upcoming Shipments Subscription. But because we are now dealing with an additional Incentive piece on a single Case, have things changed?
I'm frustrated. And my frustration brings with it the following questions:
1. The case, combined with my other subscription items, shows an Estimated Shipping & Handling charge of $38.55. Does this mean the Shipping & Handling charge currently presented only includes the five subscription items I see listed, and NOT the two case Incentives?
2. If question 1 is a YES, it means I can expect not only an additional charge of $17.50 (Incentives) but also an increased shipping charge for the two incentives. Is this correct?
3. If question 2 is a YES, can you please provide me with an estimate of how much the additional shipping charge will be for the two incentives? I've only ever ordered one incentive at a time.
4. The five items currently in my cart should cost $354.40, with another $38.55 in Shipping & Handling added on for a total of $392.95. If I allow for an additional add-on of $17.50 for the two incentives, the cost for my subscription items, WITH current shipping, becomes $410.45. But how much extra shipping will be added to that current $38.55?
5. Right now I'm staring at a potential overall cost of $392.95-$410.45, depending on what answers you supply for the first few questions. But it seems at the very lease I can assume another increase thanks to the shipping & handling of the two incentives, yes?
6. The $10 in Shipping & Handling that Paizo covers on orders of $100 or more has not been applied yet, correct? If I'm not mistaken it doesn't register until an order (that qualifies) has actually spawned.
The problem isn't that I can't personally adjust for the $17.50 Incentive charge and the cost of their shipping. The problem is I have absolutely no idea how much to add to cover that cost. I'm left completely in the dark. I don't know if it's going to be $5 or $10 more to cover shipping, or if the two incentives have actually been worked into my current costs, and I'm only on the hook for $392.95 in total costs.
I now use Paizo store credit to cover my monthly subscriptions. I've found that, at least in theory, I can make sure I have enough credit for every month before the order-spawning period begins and then rest easy. Those long, often 10- to 12-day waiting periods no longer stress me out. But it's hard to know how much credit to purchase if I've got confusion in the place of an informed estimate. And it matters because the money I use for credit doesn't just support this hobby, but another as well.
I hope I don't come off too angry here. I do appreciate the work everyone has done, and especially how kind everyone has been. But it's hard not to get frustrated. I actually brought these same issues up in this very thread back on Monday, September 17th. It sounds like it went unnoticed.
Combine that with the fact I'm now basically Blind-Buying nearly half a $300.00 case of miniatures on trust alone, and the nerves start to fray even more. We've still not seen images for 24 miniatures from the forthcoming Kingmaker Battles set. I do see you'll pass along our concern in that regard to Mark when he returns, so that's good.
I'm going to post this here and probably in the Miniatures Blog. While I hope a Paizo representative can answer some of these questions, there are others with Pathfinder Battles notifications that might be able to add some insight.
Sincerely,
Pigraven

Do we need to purchase 2 cases of Kingmaker to get both elementals? These are listed individually, not as a set as the fire/air elementals from the Maze of Death set.
Were you able to get the preview for the complete Kingmaker set?

No, one case gets you both elementals.
The reason they come in two packages is that the water elemental is so big that both wouldn't fit in one box. There is no render preview yet of the unrevealed 24 Kingmaker minis.

I'm waiting to hear back about a product before I can start. We may end up needing to create them tomorrow.
As we were going over the items yesterday, we found there was absolutely no way to use two separate product codes as premiums for the same case. Rick helped get a combined product created which we will use for the case incentive ($17.50 with subscriber case incentive discount) until the next set releases. When that one releases, the two minis will be available for purchase separately ($34.99 each).

It doesn't look like we can get up images of the remaining minis before order creation.
I don't know what to say. I mean, thank you for trying.
Is there some sort of plan? As in, should I look forward to a blog later today with the images, but too late to be before order spawn? Or is it really more a not-on-the-horizon type thing?
I hate to be a burden on you as a CSR, (especially) since this isn't a problem of your creation or within your power to remedy, but I've got no channel of contact with anyone else.

Perhaps it’s best to cancel your subscription and recommence it once the images are available?
You can always start with this set until the next is released (granted there is a risk they may sell out, so I wouldn’t leave it too long).
That would both reduce the likelihood of you getting some minis you don’t want and also perhaps send a message-by-wallet that this is an issue for subscribers (if there’s enough of you who feel the same).
EDIT: I figure you (Anguish) are no doubt across all the options. Nonetheless, I figure I’d mention it as it might be something a new subscriber hasn’t considered - the “retrospective subscription” is kind of a weird, special case with the PFBattles line).

Actually, it's a good suggestion I hadn't thought of. So thank you.
My problem is I feel held hostage over the case incentives since they're clearly part of a set that's a previous purchase. There are solutions, but none of them are good, and all of them risk bungling things and losing out. Anything else and I'd be comfortable voting with my wallet, but it feels sort of like "we know people will want the incentives so badly that this case will sell even if we don't find the time to upload 24 pictures to the Internet". Time to hire a 13-year-old for about twelve seconds. <Grin>
Y'know, it's lurking in the back of my head that something horrid is happening. Like... Mark's hospitalized or something, and the only other three or four people at Paizo that could possibly post a rudimentary blog contracted zombie-ism three months ago and are actually chained up in the basement while Sara and a dozen interns try to avoid being eaten, but don't want to let anyone know what's happening because the place will be overrun by government scientists in bunny-suits and then they'll never catch up with their backlogged Inbox.
Steve Geddes |
My impression is that everything is ticking along but PF2 Playtest is swallowing up every spare second of staff time that isn’t nailed down. (I suspect the ongoing technical glitches aren’t helping either).
As such, I would guess that when something goes awry (as in staff illness delays a blog preparation, or just a vanilla scheduling screwup of miscounting months and thinking there’s five weeks to go rather than one)...there aren’t any backup plans. The blogs are all prescheduled (and delaying a resonance fix will annoy far more people than delaying some preview figures) and the staff are all frantically behind on their own problems, let alone having to address something that, by its nature, will be a “problem we used to have” in a week or two.
I think if you cancel your sub now with a view to resuming in the near future, the risk of missing out is pretty low. I can’t remember a PFB set selling out super quickly ever really. In a month’s time, Kor will probably have a complete gallery and you can sign up again for this set and still get the discounted incentives.
I know that minimal risk would deter me though, no matter how small!
Steve Geddes |
I don’t know how you feel about third party sites, but there are online retailers who sell the incentives without needing to buy a case.
That would be another option to truly mitigate the risk of missing out: cancel your subscription, get the incentives elsewhere, wait for the previews and then resubscribe for the case without incentive if you like the set or for the next case if you don’t.
The cost might be slightly higher, but probably not enormously so (in the context of $300+)

Hey Anguish and Steve,
I'm trying to balance not spoiling the rest of Mark's reveal blogs with my sensitivity to your concerns regarding not wanting to buy in on the case when you don't know what's in it. So here's the list of the remaining figures and their sizes (I don't have access to their rarity or I would list that as well). I know that a list isn't the same as seeing the minis but hopefully this will give you enough to make your decision.

I don't usually reveal anything about the shipping queue for sub orders, however I'm making an exception here. The minis are towards the back end of the shipping queue this time (ie the week between October 9th and 12th). As soon as Mark is back in the office I plan to touch base with him so I can let y'all know when to expect those images to be previewed. So even though orders are being created today, you still have about a week (plus next weekend) to think about this and if you determine you need to cancel your minis before they ship, we can take care of that.
I hope that helps put your mind at ease a little bit.

Now that's a pair of above-and-beyond posts. Jeff, Sara... I salute you.
More importantly, I'll stop bugging you.
That looks like a good variety of things that will productively add to my collection, and I can now go to sleep comfortable in the knowledge this isn't a foolish purchase.
So seriously, honestly... thank you both. And... since I'm Canadian... I'm sorry.

The order generation appears to have successfully finished on Friday evening. If you were expecting an order for October and your order history page has no October order, please let customer service know by email, forum post or phone call.
The warehouse should be starting shipping later today. As I noted earlier packages containing Battles Items are towards the back of the queue and should be shipping out in week 2 of the October shipping window. Note this is packages containing Battles items, not orders.
