Nothing much scheduled for this weekend. I think we have a board game day before anime night? Have to check the chats.

Isn't that most days?

Anyway, after a lot of snow it warmed up so there is slush and soft ice everywhere, and we hope it won't freeze and to turn to really nasty ice.
Work today, spend the rest of the evening giving Her Furry Highness her much deserved lap, then game night tomorrow. True to my brand I haven't prepared anything yet because I keep getting distracted when I try.

Cats, man. Whaddayagonna do?

It's warming up some here and the ice is disappearing, so I've got a long dog walk planned for tomorrow. They need it. They keep reproachfully glaring at me, like it's my fault it's been in the teens and icy. Maybe they're right. I suppose I *could* have burned more fossil fuels.

Sunday's got some more football which should take care of the afternoon. Not sure about the rest of the weekend though. I suspect some fairly boring chores. Wooooo. *throws hands in air like he just don't care*

I don't care about chores, either! *looks at piles of laundry while throwing hands in the air*

Who is going to clean up this pile of hands?

This weekend a friend is bringing over his small dogs to play with my Aussie. She's funny--very stand-offish with other dogs, unless they are small, in which case she luuuuuvvvs them. Should be a good time. Meanwhile the other dog will be harumphy, since you can't really tackle a small dog for fun.

It's been unseasonable warm too, so I'm going to spend as much time outside as possible, re-upping my sunshine bank.

That and contemplating where January went. Waaaaa! Time! Fwoosh! Gurgle!

Since Cal is out of commission, I'll go ahead and ask:

Anything -- gaming-related or not -- going on with you folks this weekend?

Quib's working on his tan, it seems. The main thing for me this weekend is to maybe finally get the last of the Christmas decorations put away. They're not still up, but they're not put away, either.

PF2 on Sunday - tomorrow may also be the epoch-shaking debut of Limey's Stupendous Automatic Door Closing Contraption. Either that, or there will be several additional holes in both myself and the living room door, a visit to Accident and Emergency, and a rather cross wife.

Royal Rumble today, thought about taking the day off but it starts an hour before I go oncall, so not really worth it. Been mostly quiet besides our reservation service having outages.

Strange Aeons continues tomorrow night, we've almost collected all the McGuffins we need for the next part. Had a great round of Liars Dice with the crew of the riverboat last session, where we actually played the game at table. So that was good times.

Monday night we'll pick up some more anime. Might swing out to the FLGS to see about the remastered Guns and Gears at some point. I think it will be a good relaxing weekend.

Ah, Strange Aeons. Of all the adventure paths I've run, that was my favorite. And, not coincidentally, the one that did the most lasting psychological trauma to my players. Pfft. Weenies still eye-twitch at the words "lovecraftian horror".

Here’s hoping Cal gets better soon.

As for the weekend: “Same thing we do every weekend Pinky. Take out the bike and ride.” (Motorcycle not pedal.)

I've been busily sitting at the computer and falling asleep all day. Probably more of the same tomorrow. In between bouts of reading Harnmaster: Kethira and playing around with character generation.

Mighty big thanks to Andostre for asking the Big Question of the Week and such!

So, early Thursday morning, around 3 am, I woke up needing to use the facilities. While sitting on the edge of the bed, I fell forward (I may have blacked out) and my forehead slammed into the wall. I then turned 90 degrees and slammed my forehead into the floor. I felt this impact, as well, and I was out for 30-90 minutes. Puzzled but still needing to use the bathroom, I did my stuff and went back to bed.

Later in the day I became more dizzy and disoriented as well as getting weaker. Then I began slurring my words when I'd speak. I decided to go to the ER. There they did a Whole Bunch of Stuff™ and kept me overnight. The next day brought More Stuff™. I ended up staying a second night.

But all the tests showed I did not have a stroke, any sort of brain bleed, or any physical damage whatsoever. I am left with a couple of abrasions above my eyebrows that make look like a somewhat concerned panda, though. But it turns out I have a UTI, sepsis, was severely dehydrated, and well on my way to major kidney damage. So they gave me a bunch of medication, told me to stop taking some of my other meds, call my primary care physician, and set up Speech and Occupational therapy appointments. I'm still having some trouble with speaking clearly and doing something that requires fine manual dexterity, like texting, is very difficult to do. I didn't realize a UTI can cause stroke-like symptoms until all this happened.

Again, thanks to Androste for getting his shoes dirty by wading into CessBook and letting folks know what's going on. And thanks especially to the well wishes from all of you. And now now, onward and upward to a nap!

Gah!

Glad you're back home. Nap the hell out of that nap, sounds like you've earned it!

Damn, it sucks you have to go through this but I'm glad they caught the sepsis before it got really bad.

Thank you. I'm glad they did, as well. The weird thing was my white blood cell count was ridiculously high, indicating an infection. I was not running a fever, and that was as confusing to the ER staff as it was to me LOL.

It looks like it'll be a slow recovery, something I'm not a fan of. But, I'll do what the medics say. Being patient is the tough one!

It's Friday all over again, kids. What's going on? Nothing here this weekend, though the game I was playing in last year **might** get going again next weekend. We'll see, I guess. How about everyone else?

I'm shuffling along. Started looking for work again after 10+ years self-employed, which is... interesting. As I observed elsewhere, it makes references difficult when your boss for the past 11 years is an a*@*&~! who has trouble saying nice things about you. And while my core skills of misanthropy and cutting wit haven't atrophied, I'm not seeing them listed as requirements on any applications. Hrphm. Am I so out of touch? No. It's the children who are wrong.

It's also Super Bowl weekend. I don't really have any skin in the game as a fan of either team, but I'll probably watch it anyway. On the one hand, Saquon Barkley is amazing and deserves one of them big rings. On the other hand, I'd hate to see Taylor Swift disappointed. It's a quandary.

We're still having some unseasonable warmth, so I'm definitely getting as much outside time as is possible. Whatever that entails.

Another quiet weekend here. Might watch some movies with the house. Definitely not watching the Super Bowl.

My wife was gifted a visit to a sauna for Christmas. She finally decided to call up and book an appointment, only to discover that she was gifted a sauna visit for two.

So, I'm going to a sauna with my wife this weekend. I'm not entirely sure what to expect.

Reading and more reading. Mostly Timothy Ellis' stuff. I'm currently on the "Undone" series, where Lyla Cowan, who was cashiered from the Imperium military for royally screwing up and "nearly getting a dozen people killed" has just found out that she didn't screw up at all -- she was framed.

Andostre: heat. :-)
