What class for a bandit / reformed bandit trying to be a hero?

Advice

So.. I had this random idea.. Of a bandit, Who only realy had one person he cared about who was also a bandit in the group, But after things went badly for them she ends up dying, Telling him with her dying breath to "Leave a Legacy you can be Proud of." and her words haunt his thoughts day and night causing him to search his soul and finaly make up his mind, He is going to stop being a bandit and turn his life arround, Becomming an adventurer with the goal of trying to do good, To become a hero, Helping people so he will be rememberd not as a bandit, But for his good deeds!

But I cant figure out what class he should be, Or if he should be multiclass between two classes, One he was when he was a bandit and one he changed to when turning his life arround.. All I know is, He is going to be a class that dosent have any kind of spells..

If by bandit you are thinking of the standard "ambush travelers in the woods" type, then slayer would be a good fit.

A skirmisher ranger with human for a favored enemy perhaps.

Yes, He was a "ambush travelers in the forest" kind of bandit untill he changed his life arround, Left the bandit gang and started traveling to try and be a hero. Slayer might work, Hmm.. Maybe he multiclassed into cavalier, Seeing knights as the big hero type, So he claims to be a cavalier of a order and tries his best to follow their edict, Even if he isent officialy part of the order..

Well the waylayer rogue seems like an ambusher ideal. Maybe build from there?

Start barbarian, multiclass to paladin After Alignment Change.

I play a Sanctified Slayer Inquisitor w/ a similar concept: a reformed enforcer who saw the light and redemption of Sarenrae.

Sanctified Slayer for the Sneak Attack, plenty of skill points, Conversion Inquisition for social skills. Bane + Sneak Attack + Studied Target make for a great alpha strike.

Cavalier Order of the Land or Penitient would fit well with these ideas.

Thanks for the posts and tips! The idea randomly popped into my head on my way to work today, And the more I think about it the more I like it.

I'l take a look at Waylayer Rogue and Order of the Land and Penitent Cavalier orders.
