Hero Lab

Wondering how this will effect all the Hero Lab purchases everyone has made of the first edition books? will they be updated at no charge or will we have to re-purchase all over again?

I know I have purchased a lot of books within the Hero Lab system and it would probably bankrupt me to have to re-purchase all of them. I am sure I am not the only one here in this situation.

Thank you for all your help with this question.

I really hope it doesn't go to the "purchase andsubscribe" system they're (HL) using for Starfinder. Can't say I relish the idea of an initial outlay for books followed by a monthly fee to keep them.

PF2 is almost certainly going to the new system instead of the current system.

According to the FAQ, any content purchases will be available on both systems, as long as the game system is supported on both. The problem is, I don't forsee continues support for the current software once all games have been implemented on the new system and I don't forsee new systems being implemented on current software.

^^
Pretty much this, is my guess.

It's dead Jim. (Unless you want to subscribe.....)

This also wouldn't be the appropriate place to actually get answers to this question, only Lone Wolf/Hero Lab can answer the question.

If I had to guess, it will only be supported on the new online model and you will need to buy all the material new.

This is a second edition of Pathfinder. It is just as different as D&D 3.0 was from D&D 2E. This is going to be a very different systems, with same similarities to Pathfinder 1st edition.

I personally wouldn't expect any value or anything for 2nd edition just because you bought 1st edition. They're different games.

While I strongly suspect that you're right I really hope that you're wrong.

I pretty much refuse to use the new Pay AND subscribe model.

Fortunately, I'm sure PCGen will support Version 2 :-)

If they do move to subscription, I sure hope saavy users develop a community data pack that converts original Pathfinder rules to the new edition as much as possible. I for one have zero appetite for a monthly fee to use the program.
