Making a character for a friend: "Self Replicating Goblin"

Advice

I have a friend who plays a homebrew game using Tabletop Simulator on Steam. He goes to college and his finals are almost over. I want to present him with something his wants. He tells me he wants an unusual character, a Self Replicating goblin.

Mechanically I thought about 3 general ideas.
One is using Swarm as a Player Character.

Number two is to have a level 1 but high hit point character that divides into smaller and weaker when attacked.

Idea number three is to combine both ideas so the "prime" goblin eventually becomes the horde of tiny goblins.

Its my first time trying to make something custom like this. Ideas to help on this are appreciated.

Firstly, Check out this goblin-only spell!

for multi-creature templates, I would definitely use a Troop over a Swarm.

I had an idea a while back of a paired character as an Eldritch guardian fighter. Since the familiar shares all combat feats you have, you can UMD alter self (either via share spells or a wand-using familiar) and have two similar humanoids with the same combat techniques.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

The first thing that came to mind is the Summoner Archetype that allows you to create multiple small ediolons.....

EDIT: It's called the Broodmaster....
He could essentially create a number of 1HD Goblins/HD of the normal eidolon. Each would be customizable, so he could have a whole tribe :P

Lead from the Back, Goblin Racial trait could be fun with this as well...

Scarab Sages

Really off the wall idea: use the "worm that walks" template and refluff the "worms" as scores of tiny goblins.

In that vein, do the same with the snakes of an ouroboros.

An ouroboros might appear to be a single creature, but closer inspection reveals the truth: its body is formed from a myriad of smaller entwined serpents, which are not independent creatures and become lifeless once separated from the main body. Those who have examined serpents detached from an ouroboros report that these creatures too are formed from smaller serpents that, when inspected under magnification, prove to be composed of tinier serpents still.

Goblins made of goblins made of goblins!

He already has a single "character" made up of 3, now 2 Goblins stacked on top of each other in clothes. So this is another possibility.

This sounds like a very amusing idea. If someone divided all the eidolons into 1 HD each would there be anyway to prevent them from all just dying from an AoE spell?

Nope

You gotta keep ‘em separated.

Silver Crusade

It would require a bit of homebrew, I don't know how incompatible they are, but perhaps combine the broodmaster summoner with the Unchained Ancestor eidolon from Blood of the Beasts
