How to cast Summon Redshirt at Gencon?

While mustering for gencon I overheard a couple of marshals saying that a seat had been reserved for a Venture Critter at a 4 stars table so they could run their evaluation.

Hopefully it will be irrelevant for me by next year, but I was curious as to how you go about requesting that.

Being fortunate enough to live in the greater Seattle area where there are many Venture Critters, I could probably run a full table of VOs and 5 star GMs when the time comes for a 5 star evaluation if I wanted to :) That would be quite the interesting table with who all is around here.

BNW, I would suggest that you should discuss it with Bob or Tonya as we get closer to the convention. I'd drop them an e-mail around February if you don't think you're in a position where you'll get it by August. I would note that we can do evaluation tables online if you'd like to try to get it done before then.

I should be able to meatspace with some semi local venture critters next month. *paws crossed*, it just seems like one of those things that's known in the regular channels that matters to more to those outside of said channels. (Because if you have a venture critter to tell you the information, you don't need the information)

The information hasn't been publicly posted because the vast, vast majority of 5 star GMs attend a local store regularly and thus just ask any VOs at their store. Unfortunately, there are some times in which circumstances, such as yours, don't fit that model. If you know of anybody having trouble meeting the VC evaluation requirement, please let Tonya know and she can arrange for it to happen. The unavailability of a VC should never be a reason for a GM to not get their 5th star.

Just give me notice to schedule a flight.

I managed to get enough tables at Paizocon. Since I saw that coming, I just posted on the forums who would want to sit in on my game. (My qualification game and my actual 150th game).

Lots of people volunteered and it felt great.
I handed out several chronicles where I had to write "I hate you" on.

Those people know who they are.

Yes. Can you guess the others?

Shadow Lodge 4/5

As in Battleship, getting a hit on one suggests others. Like maybe Keith Apperson and Andrew Torgerud.

Luckily, mine just says "You Survived"

I feel like you needed one of those for Saturday night. The Elish twins are...bruising.

And I felt the love the whole time!

She got me back, too, with that last second run of Icebound Outpost!

BNW let me know closer to next years Gen Con, and let us we we can work things out. I would be honored to help if I can.

Or, if it is sooner, you are in the Wisconsin area, right?

One is correct; one is not.

Yes, Minnesota travels well.

This is the table we discovered Amazon really will deliver just about any turrible alcohol order of which you can think to the hotel.

Jim Beam and Olympia? Done!

Mango-Rita really is terrible. I should know.

Would you have supped from the Mango-Rita cup? Would you have passed the GM cans of Olympia whether she wanted them or not?

awww thanks.

But one of my things is getting information that isn't readily accessible outside normal channels outside and better known (Druids Log. The Flat rolling surfaces map. Flutter's guide for newbies).

With the lessening of the de facto con requirement for 5 stars (because you can meet the special requirements without con attendance now), I think you're going to see this start to crop up a little more often.

I think we need BNW Con. There are many people who want to be there for your 5 star.

Hmm

If all can go well, I/we hope to help BNW get his Red Shirt visit at Council of Five Nations here in Upstate New York. While I no longer wear green myself, I still like to help support the cause (and this convention, as I used to be the PFS 'con coordinator' for Council). It's not uncommon for us to have GMs (and Shirts) from 3 or more regions (Upstate NY, Boston and Vermont/NH are all really good at supporting each other across our borders with the occasional visit from yet other regions) so I think we can make this happen for him. :)

Council of Five Nations turning into BNW Central would tickle me to no end. I'd have to show up for a lot more of the con than I was planning to.

Unfortunately it's two weeks after SkalCon this year, so I don't know if TOZ and Hmm are gonna be up for that much conning that soon...

Grand Lodge 4/5 5/55/55/55/5 ***** Venture-Captain, Minnesota

Yeah, two weeks after SkalCon is problematic. My family will riot... Darn it.

We should do a BNW / Wolf Con sometime though. It would be totally awesome.

Hmm

I mean, I'm not saying I couldn't catch a Friday night flight. But it would be suboptimal. And expensive.

The name "WolfCon" is already taken. I know, because I played and GMed there a few months ago. Though that reminds me... I think those sessions still aren't reported.

I'm sure it's too far away for you, but Great Wolf Lodge sounds like a good location for a BNW Con. Just saying.

There are actually *two* WolfCons

The original 'WolfCon' happens in November, around Thanksgiving-ish.

The 'newer' one 'Summer WolfCon' happens in July, usually in the first couple of weeks.

Five-star review tables are a very fluid process and we do not have an official policy because we want the freedom to customize that experience to fit each individual. Generally speaking, if you are approaching your 5th star, contact your local (or nearest) Venture-Captain. They will need to formally request/approve the 5th star anyway so getting them involved early is important. If you want the official review table to occur at a major event like PaizoCon (Seattle), PaizoConUK, Origins, Gen Con, etc. simply rmail the organizers early in the volunteer process. They can tell you what will need to be done to coordinate the table at their event. Since every convention has their own unique challenges to tackle, only the organizing team can tell you what needs to be done to accommodate your request at that event.

Good Luck!
