Main message board might timeout in this situation if you aren't currently logged in. Generally it goes to the secure for the messageboards but it might redirect to nonsecure site if you're not logged in. Based on current data, that anomaly might also be another problem or you might have tried to access while we were down yesterday afternoon for maintenance.

A timely lifehack from the Geek Gremlin Squad... as we all know, the Internet is a series of tubes. To prevent clogs from blocking your access to Paizo and the WWW, we 'wampis recommend you pour a cup of bleach once a month on your wifi hotspot or router to dissolve any clumps before they get too big.

Might have found a potential cause: you have a specific hardware plugged to a specific outlet/socket, said outlet/socket is connected to a switch, maybe a lightswitch, and when the staff leave and turn off the lights...
Possible said switch is normally labeled to avoid the problem and/or only half of the outlet/socket is tied to the switch, and the hardware is plugged in that half.
It's funny you mention that, because there *is* actually a light switch in the server room that has a sticky note taped over it, keeping it in the on position; for added safety, the sticky note says "Do not turn off." But the outlet controlled by the switch (which is not actually in the server room) just has a laser printer attached to it.

I'm seriously asking.

I've had a lot of trouble access individual message threads for the past month on a laptop. I can get to the message board itself, but the threads just load forever until a placeholder unavailable page shows up.

If you can give us examples of the threads that do that for you when you see it, that would help a lot. It seems you can get into this thread fine.

Things are definitely much better, but I'm still seeing frequent very short outages (less than 5 minutes). I know it's not my internet connection, because other websites still work. It's too brief for me to do more troubleshooting.

Very occasionally I will see a small problem while I'm at work and I've not tracked it down yet, mostly cause it's really small blips. but we had some other problems that I know about that are causing timeouts and other problems across the board. I'd like those fixed sooner rather than later and we'll be rolling a fix later today, and I know our upstream providers are doing a lot of maintenance as well so could be something going on in multiple places. thanks for keeping on top of things though.

Also I found another thing that might have been interfering. I turned it off as it was causing some other unrelated issues. In addition, I had to remove TLSv1.1 for available SSL/TLS protocols so we're down to TLSv1.2 only. This shouldn't really effect anyone as TLSv1.1 compatible browsers are also 99% of the time TLSv1.2 compatible. We also pushed some new code today as there was a problem with a few retailer pages that were causing us a multitude of problems. Anyway, thanks for your hard work guys. We couldn't have fixed this stuff without you and I hope for a stable weekend.
