Strongest manacle / chain

Advice

I'm looking for the best (strongest) chain/manacle/rope to tie up my foes. Is there anything better than Masterwork manacles out there?

Mithral manacles. Adamantine chain has higher hardness but less hit points.

Thank you Avr good find! What does it mean when it says Break DC of 30? Is that a 30 Str check to burst it?

Yes, it is. Which means it's absolutely safe from anyone with +9 Str bonus or less.

Not quite, if you have a str of 16 then you have a modifier of +3. Add d20 to that and the highest you can get is 23.

You need a Str of 30 in order to get a +10 modifier and then roll a 20 to break those :/

I think that's what I said Gobo?

Thanks guys. If I'm on a budget of 1000gp which manacle/chain would you recommend for tieing up large monsters?

If they're literally Large size then large masterwork manacles cost 500 gp and would be the best. If they're larger then you're looking at a temporary (3 use) magic item, an Iron Rope as an ordinary chain could probably be broken by a huge+ creature, and manacles are getting too expensive at that point.

Stick a Fortifying Stone or two, or three, or twelve, onto the chain.

Thanks Avr! Would the large size manacles also be usable on medium and small creatures? Does it basically work on anything up to large sized creatures?

No, you'll need to spend another 50 gp each on medium size and small size masterwork manacles. A halfling's arm is way too small for large size manacles to hold it.

Or buy a cheap iron chain and get a fortifying stone as Castilonium suggests for 1030 gp total if your 1000 gp limit isn't a hard one.

What would be the DC escape artist check to escape a chain? I only found the DC 26 Strength check to break them.

That's in the tie up rules. Dc is 10 + grappler's cmb

If this is a common occurrence, investing in a Kyton's Ring and the aforementioned Fortifying Stone might be wise.
