Kindness id rager nonlance mounted damage build?

Advice

Silver Crusade

Hey everyone,

Recently the kindness id rager became pfs legal. I find that class very interesting since it can do something i haven't seen a melee class do yet: grant extra attacks to allies.

The exact wording is roughly: standard action: make a melee attack, if it hits, one ally threatening the enemy can spend an immediate action to also make an attack.

This feature is accessable during rage and
Is active right from level one id rager.

I had some fun as a paladin 4/id rager 1 sandwiching enemies with a rogue yesterday and that worked really well as expected.

However, there won't always be an ally you can enable. So that got me thinking...
If you are mounted, you always have your mount with you to grant the attack to. I realize that using a lance might lead to more damage with heavy feat investment, but the id rager granted attacks are essentially costless with the potential exception of taking 1 extra rage feat for having a more reliablr pool of rage rounds per day.

What are people's thoughts on this concept? Do you think it is viable? And what kind of mount would you take to grant bonus attacks to? Are there any tricks we can use to somehow make these mount attacks even better?

You could go levels of spiritualist with the kindness focus. Then you can grant each-other more attacks if there is no other melee, and you can grant 2 people attacks if there are lots of melee.

As my thoughts, this ability is "better" with 3/4 bab because you get a second attack later to not be using. So instead of lv6 missing out on an attack cause of this ability you have till lv8 to not be missing out.

Curious, in 3.x and possibly the Pathfinder Players guide (which I don't have on hand) "Ally" is listed as anyone you consider an ally, including yourself. Would this mean you could be a Bloodrager swing and hit, then grant yourself a second swing at full BAB. At the cost of your immediate action of course.

For assistance on the matter.

Ally:
Ally: Do you count as your own ally?

You count as your own ally unless otherwise stated or if doing so would make no sense or be impossible. Thus, "your allies" almost always means the same as "you and your allies."

Located in the FAQ.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

That would fall under "makes no sense" exception to being your own ally, for me.

It's not for sure if GMs will allow it or not, so I wouldn't rely on it unless you have a set GM,

I also immediately read it as you grant yourself an extra melee attack.

"it makes no sense" = "it would be totally OP"

I'd expect a lot of table variation on this...

Not sure which companion has the hardest hitting single attack. A Wolf AC is prolly a good place to start.

Depending on the wording of the ability you might be able to Combine it with other feats that enhance single attacks.

I looked up the wording and the opening strike ability literally says i can pick any ally threatening the target, with no designation of 'other' ally of any kind. So if bij pathfindwr rules i count as my own ally i can grant myself attacks... However, this is rediculously overpowered and feels like bag of rats to me.

I'll make a different topic to ask around foe the highest damage animal companion people know of. Wish i could edit the title somehow. Thanks for the comments everyone!

T-Rex, it has the highest single damage attack because it gets double str to damage.
