Interested!
I've not seen the revised core rules for a very long time... :)
I think I still have a copy lying around, and I'd be happy to play it too.
I have all the saga books
So I'm fine with either (assuming I can find my old copy of RCR.)
Would we be doing missions for the rebellion?
One of the campaign ideas I have the group would be, at least have the option to do so.
The other idea is a sandbox which the PCs could be from any background and working together (Rebellion, Imperial, Underworld, Moisture Farmer, Nerf Herder, etc.).

I love Star Wars. I would much prefer Saga Ed because I have not played the older version for over a decade.
On the last remark, Force sensitive characters still become more powerful than others in Saga. At lower levels this happens less or not at all. But once you start getting to the point you can take Prestige Classes the fact force users can do powerful things others can't, and the ability to take talents that allow you to substitute Use the Force for, well lots of things, mean force users rule. Like Palpatine did.

I'd love to play saga edition and I'm one of those weirdos who would play a strange race. How do you feel about me using the ultimate alien anthology with all of the 160 something races? I'd be a noble ^-^ mostly because it would fit the character I have in mind. Take martial artist and beat the imperial skum to death with my fists(or claws)

This is true, Chillel, but I find in Saga that Force users don't quite overpower non-Force users as much, because there are enough other viable options that taking Talents to replace a certain skill with Use the Force is an actual tradeoff. Plus, Saga eliminated scaling lightsaber damage, which really gave the Jedi a boost over every other class.

Oh I agree that force users rule less in Saga.
If you don't think substituting use the force for lots of skills can get mega powerful, I will show you one of my builds with skill focus and exceptional skill in use the force.
Imagine a theoretical campaign where the GM won't allow force users [valid way to do it] but will allow you to take use the force as a skill and the substitution talents [very weird and illogical]. I would grab use the force so fast you would not have time to blink.

Rhal, the Styx Boatman you have not replied to this yet. Not that there is an emergent need to do so. But I would like to ask about weird races, notably Hoojibs and Hutts.
The Hoojib Sith Lord, Stardly and the Hutt Droid rights camaigner, politician, scourge of pirates and sexual deviant Praga the Hutt are two of my favourite characters ever. Could well be re-visitted.

Do you have a thought for when you're setting it? Clone Wars? Between the Death Stars? Jedi New Order? That's likely to affect what character I submit.
I would check the name of the thread ;)
Also, dotting in case you decide to use Saga. I don't have the books for the other one.

Sorry, my brain must have done something stupid. It is possible, but I would have to review the specific race used to bring it over to Saga.
Dotting for interest. Saga would be my preference.

One of the games I am thinking about would be months to a year after the Battle of Yavin. The other would be right before the Battle of Hoth.
True, but the talk of Jedi/Force powers made me want to double-check.
What I should have asked is "if you're setting it in the Rebellion era, are you putting any limits on Force powers and class choices (e.g. Jedi)?"
Posting before coffee, that's the trouble.
Yes and no.Jedi and Force powers will be available. I can't say to much without giving away some plots.
Interested, though in saga, as those are the only rules I know and have access to. Don't know what character I would make yet. Would Miraluka be allowed?
Yes they would be.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Would the game be only for people that know the system(s), or newbies are welcome to apply as well? :)
New people to the system would be more than welcome.
Also, will this be used as your recruitment thread, or should we keep an eye out for the official one?
This will not be the recruitment thread. I will be doing a separate thread for recruitment. As a matter of fact I am going to do two games, one for Saga and one for Revised Core.

Dot for interest.
Vastly prefer Saga, would happily play a non-Force User. I'd also like to know if a Zeltron would be viable (they're listed in the Legacy book, I believe).
I'll keep an eye out for the recruitment thread.
Question - what kind of Posting/Update schedule are you looking at?
Starting Character levels?
As a matter of interest, I've previously posted some rules updates in the forums my group and I came up with over several years of game play (fixes Force Training, Force Points, chase scenes, etc), and can make them available for your review if you'd like. Other groups have used them to good effect, but I'm not sure how they'd work in a play-by-post game. (They're basically "stop hoarding your high-adventure resources and be heroic" type modifications, nothing game breaking)
But yes, definitely interested!

OH MAN if you are doing REVISED CORE I AM SOOOO IN!!! I mean, I think the saga version is okay, but I am a fan of the Revised Core much more... mind you, I prefer West End over d20, but that ship has sailed for most people.
Please let us know as soon as the Recruitment is ready... I'm thinking a twi'lek noble class wise, concept wise she's a courtesan/dancer. The noble money access and such is her calling in favors from her patron(s) :) (and maybe, depending on where we go, maybe another player could pose as her 'master' to dissuade actual slavers, depending on how you handle twi'lek slavery?)
