Ultimate Magic Missile build

Exactly what the post says I'm looking for any help feet Straits races alternate racial traits any build points you can think of to build the ultimate magic Missile guy.

First thing that jumps to mind is you want to gain the "orc" bloodline arcana. The two ways are essentially "be a sorcerer" and "be an arcanist with the 'blood arcanist' archetype". That'll get you +1 damage per missile, or +5 damage per spell cast at the end of the day.

Second thing that jumps to mind is you'll probably want to spend one spell slot (if sorcerer) on some kind of dispel magic, as the first level spell "shield" would hard-counter your magic missiles.

Third thing... metamagic. If you want to be so specialized into magic missile, an easy way help with that is to use your higher level spell slots on magic missile as well. Once you can cast 5th level spells, this includes "quicken", and you'll soon be doing two casts of magic missile per round.

You might want to invest in runestones of power in order to get your spell slots back, which translate to more magic missiles.

Because your specialization spell is magic missile, strongly consider taking the traits "metamagic adept" and "magical lineage". These give you two free levels worth of metamagic feats that you can apply to each casting of magic missile.

If you go sorcerer, consider taking "spontaneous metafocus" to allow you to retain your move action when doing magic missile. Even if not sorcerer, always consider going down the "spell perfection" path, because it allows you to apply quicken spell to a casting of magic missile for free.

Basically, metamagic. Metamagic is the #1 resource for any caster specializing in one spell, because that's the best way to make use of all of his slots.


If you're a wizard, you could take 'staff-like' wand once you're higher level and be pumping out magic missiles like a Gatling gun using cheap level 1 wands. They won't be boosted like Johnny's suggestions however.


How about:
Trait - Gifted Adept, lets you cast a spell at +1 caster level
Spell Focus (evocation)
Varisian Tattoo (evocation), lets you cast evocation spells at +1 caster level.

That'll get you to the maximum of five missiles at 7th level. I don't think Intensified Spell will help, since that affects damage dice, and /magic missile/ puts a limit on _missiles_. That is, /fireball/ has "1d6 ... damage ... maximum 10d6", but /magic missile/ has "maximum of five missiles".

I like Toppling Spell, which lets you make trip attempts with /magic missle/ for +1 spell level.

Evoker school for a wizard adds +1 damage/2 levels.


Start with an evoker wizard, you will need a prepared caster and the metamagic bonus feats. The school gives you extra damage and a spell slot independent basic one-missile magic missile 3+Int times per day.

Get Empower, Maximize, Fearsome, Furious, Intensified, Piercing, Quicken, Reach, Seeking, Sickening, Thundering, and Toppling spell.

Perhaps silent and still spell too, just to show your opponent that you can missile their face with only a thought. Maybe stylized spell too, to make people think you're not casting magic missile, hwne you're actually casting magic missile!

Stack these metamagics onto your magic missiles to concoct all sorts of beautiful and varied versions of magic missile in your higher spell slots.

You should probably also get Combat Casting because you are not going to have the luxury to fly out of enemy melee combatants's reach, since all your spell slots are filled with magic missiles. Oh, and Spell Penetration.


I would say arcanist for anyone who is focusing on metamagic...


The two traits you want are those which reduce the cost of metamagic, not anything which adds caster levels etc. Empowered or toppling magic missile as a 1st level spell, dazing magic missile as a 2nd and quickened magic missile as a 3rd level are good stuff.

As far as race goes it's human for the extra feat or elf for the extra spell penetration. No other racial ability comes close.

Oh, and don't use only magic missile. It can be stopped dead in its tracks by the shield spell, a ring of forcefangs, and some more expensive items. Once you're 4th level or so always have another trick up your sleeve - that's what wizardly robes with swooping sleeves are for.
