Path of War - Broken Blade's +2 Discipline Weapon Damage

Hello!

Simple question that I can't really find the answer to anywhere. In Path of War (under the Broken Blade section), it says that 'use of Discipline specific weapons and unarmed strikes inflict an additional 2 damage'; is that only when Striking with Broken Blade Maneuvers or does it count being in a Broken Blade Stance as well? Additionally, does it multiply on a Critical?

As a GM, based on my reading, I would say that the +2 bonus damage applies any time you are using a Stance or Maneuver from Broken Blade, but not if you're not actively using any of its powers. I would assume it does multiply on a critical, based on this text: "A critical hit means that you roll your damage more than once, with all your usual bonuses, and add the rolls together."

Rednal is correct, though I'd like to add in that normally when you crit using a maneuver that damage is not multiplied.

Also thanks so far with the responses, I just want to hash out any more issues before I start using more Broken Blade stuff.

I guess the next question would be, any strike that requires you to make an Unarmed Attack (such as Cartwheel Axe Kick), do you provoke an Attack of Opportunity if you don't have Improved Unarmed Strike?

I would say you need to have a Broken Blade power somehow in use - that means being in a stance or currently using a boost, strike, or counter from the discipline.

It's kind of like the way you get a 50% bonus on Power Attack when you're two-handing, but not one-handing. You only get the bonus when you actually meet its requirements.

It mostly comes down to this line: "Use of discipline-specific weapons with Broken Blade inflict an additional 2 points of damage."

As for your other question, assume unarmed strikes always provoke unless you have something like IUS to stop that from happening.
