Whedon can polish Snyder's coprolite until it's smooth and shiny, but that won't change what it's made from.
Dread Lady Slaad, these are reshoots. Thry are changing the movie on a fundamental level. We wont know the composition of the film until reshooting is complete, but that doesnt matter to most. If the movie is awful, it will be Snyder's fault. If it is awesome, it will be Whedon that saved it.
To most, Snyder can do no right and Whedon can do no wrong to the point that if Whedon overspends on his reshoots and the movie is cancelled or delayed indefinitely, that too will somehow be Snyder's fault, Age of Whedtron Ultron bedamned.
My cup of wrath with continue to bubble.

That'd be debatable.
*Glances over at AVENGERS : AGE OF ULTRON*
Yup.
My biggest issue with A:AOU was that people should have been walking out of that movie going: "GOOD GOD. I really hope the Avengers never have to fight him again. Ultron was absolutely CHILLING."
Instead, we got snarky Ultron with ONE good one liner.
Yeah as much as I love that first AVENGERS movie I'm so glad that Whedon has moved on from Marvel Studios.

If they kill most/all of the Amazons just for a stupid Worf effect to buildup Steppenwolf as a bad ass, I'm gonna have to deliver c*ckpunches to the writers and both directors.
The Amazons should TOTALLY get pwned by anyone meant to be at threat to the Justice League and the world. The Amazons are 100% overrated. ESPECIALLY the movie versions.
They quite literally bring swords and bows to gunfights and were killed by random WWI era guns.
In the original stories they had the contest showing that they were all on par with Diana with her just being the best of the best... and their peaceful society allowed them to increase their technology to amazing sci-fi levels of invisible planes and healing rays. The movie went with the demigod version making the rest of the amazons just... people. People still training the way the ancient greeks did... but just people.
If Superman level threats DIDN'T kick their butts than I would be terribly disappointed.
It could be good. Am just worried about the CG and the Superman was a symbol of hope retcon.
That struck me as weak too... but to be fair, They DID show in BvS that people were worshiping him and painting his symbol on their roof in the floods and things like that. So I assume that he was a symbol for Hope to SOME people... just not the 'universal world-wide symbol' that he is in the comics.
Thomas Seitz wrote:Also I just want... well not a SERIOUS Flash but a Barry Allen that doesn't screw things up. Is that too much to ask? That Barry died in the Crisis on Infinite Earths, and apparently isn't coming back. In the current comics, he's written as a bit of a goof who even Wonder Woman mocks for being kind of naïve and hopeless.
When I was a teen, both Barry and Hal were experienced adult heroes that I could look up to. Now the former's barely-competent, and the latter is an obnoxious frat-boy who letches on Wonder Woman, gets punked by Batman (who literally grabs the ring off of his finger to look at it) and ends up screwing up so egregiously that it trashes the entire Justice League's reputation and leads to him leaving.
I'm torn on issue. While 2017 Barry is considered Naïve and a bit goofy... He's not THAT far removed from 1960's Barry. It's just that people who have that silver age 'good guy' mentality are seen as Naïve and stupid in 2017...
Would I rather Barry be treated as Naïve but 'good'.... or would I rather see him /shudder 'modernized' for this dark gritty crappy world?
/Eyes the rest of Snyder-verse... I'm not sure which is worse.

Worth it if we get a real Superman.
Don't like Captain Hypocrite, do you? Understandable.
Honestly though at this point, I think DC should just abandon the superheroes don't kill rule. Marvel did so from the very beginning with Ironman (though Doctor Strange and Spiderman decided to do things differently which am fine with) and even noblebright Wonder Women was killing soldiers left and right in her film. At least by losing the rule and having frank in-universe discussions about the use of lethal force when fighting space monsters and supervillians I won't be bothered by the blatant hypocrisy and thematic dissonance I keep seeing in DC films.

Henry Cavill's inability to remove his mustache in the upcoming Justice League has forced the effects department to digitally remove it in the film. No s+&@, this is costing them millions.
Alright, that last part is probably BS but the rest is true and hilarious in my opinion.
This is epic BS. MISSION IMPOSSIBLE can't use fake mustaches. (facepalm)

That's not my point. My point is not whether the DCMU Amazons would lose to Steppenwolf, but why is the f!cking "fight" even happening? They are totally withdrawn from the rest of the world and have remained hidden, even after the horrors of WWI and and everything that has come after. Using them now just to make Steppenwolf "look powerful" by killing them all is sh!tty weak-ass writing. If you want Steppenwolf to look powerful, have him land at an American military base near a major city and totally raze the area. Kill everyone, military and civilians, adults and children alike. But DC and the writers won't do something like that because of the criticism they took from flattening Metropolis while the ManBro of ManPain™ was busy getting his punching on. So they are instead going to kill off, or nearly so, the remaining Amazons... not for some noble cause or to close their character arc with any meaning, but just to show how tough Steppenwolf is, and then Justice League as tougher when they beat him. An entire near-utopian tribe of isolated women warriors easily fridged by a single man with a war boner.
Look, if I was writing a screenplay where Steppenwolf appears and just slaughters the entire JSA or LSH in the first act for the sole reason of making Steppenwolf look cool and tough, I'd be rightly excoriated for it.
But hey, Diana is getting a long lost brother, likely with all her powers and the requisite DC standard-issued ManPain™, so that makes it better, right? And now with all the Amazons but Diana being fridged, he's totally motivated to get his punching on.
The Amazons deserve a better ending than a feeble slaughterporn first act in Snyder's & Whedon's cinematic turd. All the women and girl viewers deserve better.

While I think "Wonder Woman's brother" is a horrible idea, the comics Amazons haven't been fridged, right? This new character won't be motivated by that, since it hasn't happened in his reality.
This is getting off topic but I think after more than 60 years of comics Wonder Woman getting a brother isn't the worst idea. Maybe I'm just more tolerate of the comics running out of ideas and doing weird crap (Nazi Captain America, Superior Spiderman, Commissioner Gordon becoming Batman) but this idea is tentatively ok to me so as long we get good stories from it.

Not the worst, but pretty horrible.
One of the troubles, compared to those others, is that this one is likely to stick around indefinitely. Or at least be brought back every so often. It's not just a story arc, but a new character.

I know this seems humorous, and I have only really encouraged it by letting it go on, but I'm really not anti-Man or anti-cock. I just want better representation for women (and other minorities) in American/Western media. Me wanting that in a blockbuster summer comic book movie, especially something built on Snyder's and Ayer's foundation, seems beyond Quixotic. But not only do the audiences watching this film deserve better, these characters with decades of rich legacies deserve better.
And Superman isn't supposed to be the dark, brooding, self-centered guy in these films. I dearly miss the hopeful, best-in-all-of-us symbol that the Donner films offered. I think we need that kind of inspiration and reminder of what was good and what we need to strive for. I know that's the image this new trailer and the marketing is trying to spin, but this Superman isn't that; if he is supposed to become that, then he damn well needs to earn it and do the work. Maybe the Whedon reshoots will help steer it that way, or maybe they're just trying to make the film less awful. All the kids who are growing up seeing this Superman, and these heroes, as their versions deserve so much better.

I love comicbooks, but even as I child I thought the idea of Superman being an inspirational role model was kind of stupid. I mean, even the most light-hearted versions of Superman solved most of his problems through violence and superhuman abilities. Maybe I just had a boring, unimaginative childhood but my main hero growing up that inspired me was my older brother who realistically solved his problems with hard work and setting reasonable goals for himself.
Oh, and the Scooby Gang were big heroes of mine growing up. They taught that me magical monsters were BS, that scepticism and reason were vital to understanding the world, and that the villains of the world were usually rich a!##@@@ land developers.

YES THIS ALL
The trailer line about Superman being a inspiration to do better is really odd, and I did not recognize the Superman from MoS or BvS anywhere. I want to see Henry Cavill be the Superman he can be. I love Henry Cavill, he is a good actor, but he needs to step up his game and writers and directors should do as well. Superman means something to people. It must be weird for him to play the most iconic and beloved superhero ever and get critized, only to see a TV actor play the same role in CW series and do it better and be praised. I really, really hope that Geoff Johns (now heading the whole DCEU thingy) sees that the Superman from before did not work, and that changes must be made in order to make everyone once again love Superman.

I would agree with this more if Superman's power set wasn't so out there. Nothing much can stop him, and the movies take full advantage of this, to the point that I find most of his movies fly-around-the-earth-backwards-to-reverse-time/throw-mysterious-shield-to-s aran-wrap-foe level farcical. I liked Man of Steel if only because there was an actual threat, and Clark's life wasn't perfect. With respect to what you refer to, I find that only in the animated series, which I enjoyed greatly.

I kind of like it. At least based on the craptastic idea of Mother boxes which I have no particular love for in the first place. The idea that the Mother boxes have been around here forever and Darksied only showed interest now is dumb to begin with... But the immediate question I have is "why now?" "Where are the others?" Having them hidden on magical hidden islands and super advanced undersea kingdoms really works for me. Better then just laying in an old pyramid or something... It gives kind of an 'Odin's treasure vault' kind of feel to it.
I'm sure they'll find some way to screw it up with whatever happened to Cyborg and where his box came from... but first instinct of having the Amazons have one and the Atlanteans have the other while the rest of humanity don't even believe they or the magic god boxes exist... That just works for me purely on a plot level.
As fpr the amazon's? They have no plot arc. They're entire purpose was to save the world from Ares... and their daughter and super warrior did just that. Their entire being for existing has come full circle. Realistically whatever magic kept them young and hidden should have been broken and they rejoin the world at this point. Their mission is complete.
But yeah... As the only actually successfully enjoyed DC movie... trying to tie things in with the Amazons makes sense from a business standpoint too. All trying to tie their connected universe together... I wouldn't be surprised if something there ties in with the Batman solo film and Suicide Squad 2 also... They'll milk it till it's dead.

Oh, there are many stories you could tell with amazons still. They don't have a strong mission in the comics these days, and yet writers can make compelling stories with them. Rucka did, Gail did and Rucka is still on it. There are good characters among them, that could be future allies, villains and anything between. I would love to see Themysciran Embassy, Io, Donna Troy, Alkyone, Circe and all the other Themysciran-linked characters.
Also there is the whole thing about first creating a female utopia that (especially female) audience fells in love and then using it as a sacrifical altar for next doomsday villain. That is bound to bite the franchise in the ass HARD.

It isn't a perfect film, and I never saw the original show to compare it to, but Cavill is quite charming, smiles, and has pretty good chemistry with both Armie Hammer and Alicia Vikander. Oh, I'd love to explain myself, Rysky.
The DC films haven't exactly been great when it comes to emotionally investing people in their heroes actually saving the world is all. Wonder Woman and the amazons are currently the only characters whose deaths would actually move me emotionally. I don't actually want them to die but if the directors wanted to make me give a damn about Steppenwolf as a threat or villian the amazons deaths and the impact that would have on Diana would do it. It's cliched film writing and fridging but that's what happens when your cinematic universe only has one good film and decent character. Then again, it's possible that the Justice League film might do something great and make me care that Steppenwolf is killing random nameless civilians and doing nefarious things without a bunch of amazons being fridged. Here's to hoping.

Oh, that was a fun movie. I wish they'd cast a Russian actress for Alicia Vikander's part, if only because then they could have a Brit playing an American, an American playing a Russian, and a Russian playing a Brit. But she's a Swede, so that ruins the joke. :)

We look at Transformers (the first Bay one, haven't seen any of the others) and we see almost straight out of the box a well-supplied and equipped military base get stomped.
Immediately it goes from "This is a kid's movie" to "Man, this is gonna be rough!"
I can't see the same sort of investment happening by killing off a bunch of women warriors (even if it is being done because they are complete bad-asses). In fact, it'll detract from the picture 'They had to go after women because there aren't any male targets worth their time?'
I wasn't really having it on my list of 'must-see' shows, but recent advertisement has pushed it off my 'buy it on DvD or watch on demand' type lists.
