I am poking at yet another concept these days where i am now trying to make pairs of characters that have the theme of being Thematically opposite and yet together.
Currently i am thinking of a Oracle of Life with a Oracle of Bones (Life&Death) But i am meeting the wall when it comes to how i actually want this setup to get down.
Despite that, i would like to hear if theres any other fancy combinations out there that could fit the theme, like Cold VS Fire wizards or Metal VS Nature.
I will put up whatever i manage to come up with eventually, but i am a bit dry on the writing front right now. ^^;

theme of being mechanically opposite
Oracle of Life with a Oracle of Bones (Life&Death)
Cold VS Fire wizards or Metal VS Nature
These all seem more thematically opposed rather than mechanically.
Ranged vs Melee, or One-man-army vs Horde controller might be more opposite in a game-mechanical sense.| LittleMissNaga |

I played a hydrokineticist about half a year ago in a party that included a pyrokineticist.
I was the cold, calculating tactician, she was the hothead who charged in. I positioned myself at extreme ranges and used cover to my advantage, she danced just outside of melee reach to blast so that she'd be right there if something needed doing, and enemies would be punished for attacking her with her pyrokinetic defense talent.
I was hard to hit, but only moderately accurate, and when I did hit, it HURT pretty much regardless of what we were fighting. She was easy to hit, but extremely accurate. Her damage came from lots of little bits adding up instead of from single large hits. Against certain enemies she floundered.
I was water, she was fire. :P

Oh dear, you are quite right.
Well i meant *thematically* ofcourse, let me change that up a bit.| Gulthor |
Many years ago, my now ex-wife and I made a married pair of characters: a rogue and a paladin.
The rogue had lived a rough life on the streets, and had lived a life of crime in order to survive until by chance, her future husband - a member of the watch - arrested her on theft. However, to her surprise, he ended up advocating for her at her trial, because he saw through the crime to see the good, desperate person behind it. He helped her pay for her crimes, and the two became friends, and eventually were married.
They were quite the couple - the Chaotic Good rogue who still valued individual freedom, and the Lawful Good paladin, bound by law and oath, but also by his oath of matrimony.

So on the "Life and Death" Oracle pair i am trying to find a setup with the curses that makes a bit sense and might be a little tragic.
I think one of them would have the curse of clouded sight or just being outright blind while the other have the wasting curse. Then the one with the life mystery would care for the one that wastes away while he or she is the eyes of the other.
And their adventure will be one of trying to find a solution to break eachothers curse and just survive.
And i wonder if theres any synergies that could be achived in such a pair? ( Mechanically that is )

A Cavalier and a Druid who likes to spend her time Wildshaped in the form of a Triceratops and has the Leadership Feat with a Cavalier Cohort. One is a knight with a Mount. The other is a mount with a rider.
How about a Druid and an inventor-Gnome: nature vs. technology.
How about a Catfolk and a Kitsune character: cats and dogs.

You may as well toss in ratfolk there too. And doubly so if their classes 'mismatch'. Ratfolk wizard, catfolk barbarian, kitsune sorcerer.

A Tengu, a Kitsuni, and a bag of grain have to cross a river, but the boat will only hold 2 at a time. If left together, the Kitsune would eat the Tengu, and the Tengu would eat the bag of grain...
Hmm, theres a lot of interesting combinations, but how about you try to justify why they would been together?
Now that would be the interesting part.
Perhaps they met at a ferry...
