Barret |
Initiative
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Barret smiles for a moment before he lets the rage come over him. His claws extend and his eyes turn red as before. He looks around at the group and then rushes the animated straitjacket. He lashes out with a single claw at it.
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
1d6 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Dillan Surestep |
Initiative 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Dillan will hold his actions till the other melee combatants have a chance to act...once they do he will draw his shortsword and move to a location hopefully allowing him to flank without provoking any AoO's.
Megan; i'll let you decide where how he moves.
Shortsword 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23 and 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8 for damage.
I haven't included any flanking modifiers or sneak attack incase his desired action was not possible.
Sorin Szekely |
Round 1
Initiative 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Sorin fires a regular arrow at the straitjacket and then steps back to allow the melee combatants to strike at it.
Attack (Shortbow) 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Damage (Shortbow) 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
Dillan, you have a possible crit

Better roll the straitjacket's Initiative...
Straitjacket Initiative: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12
Sorin looses an arrow at the straitjacket, hitting it. He then backs away.
Tre'duinne backs out of the door, watching closely - the thing does not seem affected by his spell in the slightest.
Merian rushes forwards, slashing with her sword but missing. Dillan manoeuvres around her also attacking with his sword but to greater effect, opening a rent in the body of the straitjacket.
The straitjacket retaliates, flying clumsily at Dillan and attempting to slam into him bodily, but he just manages to evade it.
Straitjacket attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Barret flies into a rage and charges, red-eyed, lashing out with a claw - unsuccessfully.

Tre'duinne Braeguldae |
As Tre looks on seeing his spells have no effect, he moves up behind Dillan speaking into his ear, "You may feel some magic entering you in a minute, it will aid your reactions, mental strength and body, don't worry its all good." Tre then speaks words of elven power as a blue light transfers from his finger to Dillan's body.

One of Dillan's claws and Merian's sword connect with the straitjacket which is beginning to look rather tattered. Thrashing around in the air, it attempts to bash into both Dillan and Merian in turn:
Straitjacket attack on Dillan: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Straitjacket attack on Merian: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Megan Robertson |
I had intended for the straitjacket to go for Dillan... sorry about giving him claws!
Here's your damage, Dillan: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Merian and Barret continue to lay into the straitjacket and by the time they have finished it is in a tattered heap on the floor, animated no more!
Well done, everyone!
Sorin Szekely |
"Ouch, that thing really got a hold of you Dillan. Come here so I can take a look at it." Sorin looks over the bruises and crushed bones where the straitjacket wrapped itself around the half-elf. This looks pretty nasty and we need Dillan to get through here. He takes his hands and moves them over the damaged bones. "Hang on Dillan, this is going to hurt a little, but then it will be better."
Casts Cure Light Wounds 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Casts Cure Light Wounds 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Oh lovely, two 1s in a row. Fortunately, I've got a lot of ways to heal you guys.

Merian Benvalla |
Merian's got healing backup too, of course, if it becomes necessary.
Merian nods, looking satisfied. "It's only the beginning, but it's a start," she comments. After assuring herself that Dillan is being cared for, she begins poking through the heaped cloths in case anything of interest should catch her eye. Perception check: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26. She'll also activate detect magic and pause a few moments to sweep the room in case there might be magic auras.
Dillan Surestep |
The rogue almost drops his blade as the animating clothing stops; the pain evident on his face and body. "I don't think i'm going to want to be wearing anything from this place." He smirks at his own humor, nods at Sorins' words and stumbles over to him, "Ya know its because of things like this i've always avoided these kinds of places." His smile lightens a bit more as he feels the healing energies wash over him.
HP 11 of 13
"You know," The rogue pauses, "There is another option to all of this I think we have overlooked." Dillan places his sword back in its scabbard, "We could just burn the place." He smiles, "I mean that should at least take care of the clothes attacking us."
Tre'duinne Braeguldae |
Tre sighs a small sigh of relief, as the straightjacket's animation ceases and it lies in tatters upon the floor. He smiles seeing Sorin using her magic towards his friend, watching his wounds close up, yet his face plainly shows the shock at Dillan's suggestion. "No Dillan, just firing the physical structures won't remove the evil that is trapped here, doing that might even feed the malice and free its spirits to even greater evil acts. No I can't allow that, really not a course of action to follow."
Barret |
"I want to agree with Dillan, but Tre makes a good point. It would not help the cause. And besides, Dillan survived alright. We can handle whatever this place throws at us." Barret says after his rage leaves him.

Tre'duinne Braeguldae |
Returning back through the door, finding themselves back n the corridor, Tre points to the double doors to the north, "This might be interesting, double doors into what I wonder? If it were a noble house in Caliphas, they would lead to a magnificent ballroom, with a band playing on high, looking down on the happy revelers dancing their souls out. Oh, those were the days...." his voice trails off wistfully.
Merian Benvalla |
Merian feels... something... in the air. A building tension, maybe. Part of her wants to dismiss it as battle nerves, but she nonetheless tightens her grip on her shield, and the first syllables of a protective prayer hover on her lips.
We could also consider the double doors at the south end of the corridor, near the entrance (off of S2), if we wanted to work front-to-back instead.
Dillan Surestep |
I say we keep in the direction we've been going; if we encounter those stairs down we back track and clear this level.
Dillan moves to the double doors and begins his examination...
Traps 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (2) + 16 = 18
Perception for noise 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14 +4= 18 vs conversations, finding traps, concealed or secret objects
And if there were traps their removal 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (16) + 14 = 30
Megan Robertson |
OK, double doors at the north end of the corridor from the front door, then?
Dillan investigates in his usual thorough and professional manner, discovering no traps and hearing no sounds. When everyone else is ready, he opens the doors cautiously.
Several mouldy cots lay strewn around this room, while doors to what you guess are smaller, more private sleeping cells - or maybe treatment rooms - hang askew to the west. Judging from the rest of this room's decor, this must have once been the prison's infirmary.
Anyone want to go in?
Dillan Surestep |
"OK," The rogue swallows; the sound almost seems to echo in here, "Clothing is one thing, but surgical tools or some spectre that is well...half a body." Dillan silently steps to the side, "I gladly offer the first step into this room to someone else." The rogues hand drops to the hilt of his blade.
Megan Robertson |
As Merian enters the room, following Barret and Sorin, the air in the the centre of the room twists and coalesces, becoming visible as a twisted, nearly skeletal ghostly form of a broken prisoner.
Those of you in the room feel a wave of fear wash over them, an overwhelming urge to flee...
May I have a Will save, please, to resist this.
