Yesterday I saw James Sutter and Christopher Paul Carey as having one-on-one writing career counseling sessions, but now I only see Mr. Sutter's. (Not to mention CPC isn't under the list of "Game Masters" anymore) Is CPC no longer doing that event?
I'm still doing it! Here's the link to the event.

Anyone who is moderating or GMing an event should have been added to their event(s) already. You do not need to mark preferences for things you are already signed up for. You should see "Volunteer event" where you would normally see the lottery preferences. If you do not see this, it is because either we made an error entering the event or because we were not provided with the paizo.com log in email address for your account.
You can follow up with paizocon@paizo.com if you need to. Please include the link to the event.
If you are unsure or need to confirm what email address you use for paizo.com, you can check it here: https://secure.paizo.com/paizo/account/settings/personal

Diafanus wrote:Hi. I'm new to PaizoCon, this will be my first one. Very excited, but I don't understand this lottery system. It says it's live and started last Thursday, but I can't seem to select anything. Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks.
JoeDiafanus: If you have a ticket to the convention, the items that have a lottery slot should have a space with a '0' in it with five numbers underneath (0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5) that will bring up a tool-tip for what each number means if you hold the mouse over it.
Click one of those numbers, and that priority will be assigned to the event in question.
Part of the confusion I had with this earlier (and may be yours, as well) is that NOT all events are lottery events, so as a result, those will go 'live' at a slightly later date.
Hopefully this helps some?
YES. That is what I was confused about. Thanks!

Ah! ... the PFS Special on Sunday night has always been scheduled after the lottery. Last year it started as a lotteried event, but then people asked for it to be moved to post-lottery and it was changed prior to lotteries being locked in.
The problem with the way it is is that if you want to do it, you'll have to mark it as your #1, and miss out on a chance to sit in a high-demand lottery table.
Has there been any issue in the past with having the special non-lottery?

Another buddy question if you and your buddy have a few different choices where 1 puts a 4 and the other puts a 0 or no selection and has another selection of their choice as a 4. Will that tell the system they obviously don't wanna buddy for those events?
Buddies are all-or-nothing. If either of you put a 0 for an event, the lottery won't assign it to either of you.

With over 200 seats for the Sunday Night special, have people not been able to get seats for the PaizoCon special in prior cons? If it hasn't been a problem before because there are so many seats, it would stink to have to miss out on a good lottery event because you had to waste a preference for the Paizo Special.

Yes, we have had the special fill up. We also strongly encourage that if attendees have a ticket to the special, that they show up on time. If we have folks on standby that have waited for table openings for the special, they will be assigned to open seats.

This will be my first time attending PaizoCon so I've got a couple questions about how this works.
1) Are each of the game events (for example: #6-10: The Wounded Wisp) a single table that seats 4-6 PCs or are there multiple tables for each game event?
2) I keep reading about "pick-up games". How frequent are these and how hard is it to get into one?
Thanks for any info.

1) Each scenario has a listed maximum for participants. You can determine the number of tables by dividing that by six for PFS events.
2) Pickup games are not hard to get into but may require some coordination to find out about. This year should be easier thanks to one of the local VOs taking up organization duties for those tables. However, showing up at the PFS room at the start of the afternoon 'slot' is a good way to find out what pickup games are being run.

Wow... finally looking through the schedule... Friday Afternoon is absolutely stacked with amazing options!
Lots of doubling up this year: both "Out of Retirement" and "Season Zero Reborn" in Friday afternoon, and both "Adventurers Anonymous" and "Anagnorisis" on Saturday morning.
And... I somehow avoided crossing anything truly unmissable in the three slots I'm running. Although not having a shot at JJ's Sunday night Cthulhu hurts my soul a bit.

This may have been discussed and I just missed it, but ...
Once the Lottery sign up closes today, how soon do we know what (if any) events we got? In other words, how soon after the sign up ends today will we actually see our event schedule?
Thanks!
But if I remember correctly, the plan is that we find out what we got at the same time as Paizo opens up the non-lottery events for scheduling ... Wednesday, 12:00 pm.

I hope it's earlier. Honestly, I can't remember the order of things last year. All I remember is that they had to redo things due to an error which caused people to not get counted in the lottery. It would be nice to see your schedule before having to scramble to sign up for open events.

Lottery was run but something happened with the volunteers attached to events. Some were removed which would allow people to sign up for things that conflict with running their scheduled events. We need to assess how long this will take to fix and determine if we can fix it by tomorrow when results are supposed to go live.

Thanks for the heads up Sara. No matter what happens, just know that you're all doing great work, and people's anxious posts are just indicative that they're excited to participate in all the awesome gaming Paizo has lined up.
Everyone else, good luck in the draw! If you've never done this before expect maybe 1 item per day (or less) from your lottery choices (depending on how many things you listed). But also know that no matter what I've ended up with on my schedule in past PaizoCons, I've always had an excellent 3-4 days of fun!
In addition to the lottery and first-come schedule items, there is a Reaper Paint N' Take, rpg delves (20 minute challenges DMed by awesome Paizo staff), and more.
Let the games begin!

If the lottery results are delayed, will they delay opening sign ups for regular events until the lottery results are available?
I would imagine so, you cant really sign up for open events without knowing if you are already booked on events you won in the lottery :)

The field for when lottery results are displayed and when open registration is displayed is the same box so there is not currently a way to separate these.

Thank you Sara Marie, we all appreciate everything you do for us, =)
Ditto - and Sara has definitely earned herself an extra Belgian chocolate. ;)

how do I drop the banquet to sign up for a conflicing event
Email customer.service@paizo.com or post in the CS forum asking to refund your banquet ticket and that will free up that event time for you. I will tell them to keep an eye out for the request so you can sign up as soon as possible.

The buddy system seems to be preventing my buddy from signing up for Serpent's Ire! Or something is. When I click on it, it says "Refresh page to view updated schedule" but it does not say "On your schedule" in green above the button and it does not show on his updated schedule.
This is my son, and I'd really like us both to be in this game together. His forum name is Simeon.

Buddy system is only for lottery events. Once open registration starts, each account needs to sign up for events.
I know how it works, I've done this many times before. It's not working. It is doing what I described in my post above. If it's not related to the lottery, can you sort out what it is?
