I run a pbp game, and we are about to begin the trek across the north pole. To be honest,I have been an abysmal failure at running the four NPCs. As part of my plan to fix this, I am thinking of occasionally having one tag along with the party.
One issue I see is that one of my PCs is a bard, so Ameiko's abilities are not as useful. Does anyone have any suggestions for something I could replace her bard levels with. The player party makeup is alchemist, bard, fighter, and ranger.
Sorceress with the Destiny type maybe?
Or if you're using 3rd party? An Occultist, so she can bind Kami to herself and be a bit of a 3rd wheel filler jaco of all trades?

If one did go with a Sorcerer, I'd suggest Imperious as the most thematically fitting bloodline: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/sorcerer/bloodlines/bloodlines -from-paizo/racial-bloodlines/imperious-bloodline-sorcerer-human ; the Heroic Echoes ability in particular could serve to make your bard better as the campaign gets to high levels.
Swashbuckler or Daring Champion Cavalier would be quite fitting.

My suggestion would be to swap her bard levels directly over to swashbuckler levels; fits her character a bit more to be a swashbuckler/rogue than a full-on sorcerer, and without all those spells, she'll be easier to run in combat (once you get the hang of the flow of how a swashbuckler's combat tactics work, that is...).
I had subsituted Ameiko's half-sister, Amaya of Westcrown, as the escorted NPC. She ended up as a fighter/oracle.
I had tried expert 1/Fighter 1/oracle 2 for her at the beginning of Night of Frozen Shadows, claiming that her oracle powers were triggered by the Amatatsu Seal, but the level of expert made her too weak. I instead developed an expert-like archetype for oracle and switched her to fighter 1/oracle 3. That worked.
Having an NPC as a healer for the party was convenient.
Oh, Oracle works very well. Good call Mathmuse.
After all, its something thrust upon you rather than something you choose to become, which you could use to cleverly parallel her royal blood and all that jazz.
