Patrick Curtin wrote:My mantra now is ‘Fun takes effort ‘. I used to have a bad attitude about putting in the effort to make things happen. Things were difficult, too far, I might not get in. Fnck that. Take the extra effort, spend the grocery money, take the thre-hour drive, take a chance a ticket comes up at the box office. Lots do.
Example: Sunday I’d like nothing better than be a slug on my couch the entire day. But, it’s a day I’ll never have back. Is being some sort of sessile creature going to do anything for me long run? So, I’ve made up my mind, I’m going to Amish country in PA. Maybe see some leaves. Kick around, buy a soft pretzel and a funnel cake. Six hours driving, but who cares? I’ll at least remember the weekend, rather than having a forgotten day. One of my limited days on this planet. We only get so many.
Thats an awesome attitude dude. :)
(I should probably try harder) ;P
I'm pulling out (whats left) of my hair trying to convince my 15 yr old son that not EVERYTHING can be delivered to you immediately and digitally. Sometimes even having fun takes a little time and (GASP!) effort of going out and doing something! :P
Not that his dad has been a great example lately. Too much time trying to catch up on recorded TV shows and playing Champions online. ;P
BUT I did get talked ointo auditioning/ accepting a part for "Its a Wonderful LIfe" (Darn my theater addicted daughter!) They gave me Clarence the angel. How can I say no? :P
So much for my easy, stress-free Fall,... ;)
That sounds like it could be a fun part!

Oh it probably will be!
Honestly, the one part in the show I can see myself playing (Without trying to do a bad Jimmy Stewart impersonation) ;PBasically, I get to be me! :)

Ah well, the best-laid plans of mice and monkeys....
My PA trip has been scuttled due to weather concerns and the fact I forgot about a promise I made to work to deliver 100 cookies by Tuesday.
I’m going to reschedule soon, and hopefully catch a bit of the color before it goes by
Weather, bah! ;P
Hmm,... thas' a lot of cookies.
I guess you'd better get COOKie-ing! ;P
(I'm presuming you promised real, fresh cookies? And not oreos?) :)
Thats ONE thing about the south(ern) states. (good or bad?) We don't get fall colors on the trees until Thanksgiving or Christmas. IF we get them at all! :) So down here we still have plenty of time to wait for the colors. (Although ONE tree in my backyard did start turning orange-ish last week.) ;P
At work (University Auditorium/stage) I have to keep making Physical plant turn OFF the heater, and the keep the AC on. Usually until Christmas at least. With all of the heat that stage lights and an audience full of bodies produce, unless it is REALLY cold outside, and I mean below freezing for several days in a row, it just gets too hot too quick in here otherwise! >.<

Goblin-gourd, a goblin assault construct.
OK, now this is awesome! I can totally see this being used by the Sandpoint area goblins at some point in a campaign. (Not 1st lvl!). ;P

It's been rocking in some of the other silly threads, though... LOL
And there's a lot to be said for the calming sound of chirping crickets.
I, personally, have always found the sound of chirping crickets to be extremely disturbing. Especially when trying to go to sleep at night. ;P
Like, fingernails-on-a-blackboard-is-more-soothing disturbing. :)
Not as bad when sitting on the back porch watching the sun go down admittedly, but still,... :D

"Sup? Me, I'm fighting a cold I caught last Friday. Boogers! Boogers, I say!
You stay away from me! I cant afford to get sick! Literally, ;P
That large group of kids in here last week TRIED to give me a cold,...
,...a few doses (Gallons) of Emergen-C and a few Zinc swabs later, no worries. Nothing more than a sniffle. :)
HAVE AT THEE THOU POXY EXCUSE FOR FALL WEATHER AND COLD SEASON!!
IS THAT THE BEST YOU GOT?!?!?
;P

[whining]~sighs~ I love my Mom and I am glad that I can be there for her through all of this, but man am I tired of ALWAYS being over there. At least 4 times a week with at least two doctors appointments a week. This week there is a doctors appointment every day of the week, M-F. I have my own stuff to get done, but I am too tired to do most if it by the time I can get to it.[/whining]

Wow, you have a lot on your plate. I hope things ease up soon.
Bah. Mom can't drive for at least another month or so due to the seizures (you must be at least 6 months seizure free to drive). Plus I still need to be at 3/4 of the doctors appointments. ~sighs~ Just tired and frustrated is all.

Well, after my three-day orgy of event curation I was not really ready to head back to the gym. It is so easy to drop away if you slack. I consciously took these three days off, because I knew I couldn’t risk being exhausted. But, I needed to get back in today. Of course, I woke up with a cold because that’s the way sitting in an enclosed room with people from all over the country always goes, amirite con goers?
So, anyway, walking wounded on the Stairmaster. Not going to set any records today, but I’m here.

Buffet food is the best!
(only FREE buffet food is better!). ;P
Glad you had fun Monkey, I've missed my 'usual' summer-con for 2 years now. I need to go back NEXT year! :)
Now BACK TO THE GYM! YOUR STAIR-MASTER COMMANDS YOU! ;)
Sorry about the tired/overload Sharoth. I get it. Believe me.
(Of course half of MY over-burdened schedule is my own fault, so I cant complain TOO much) :P
Hope your mom gets better soon!
Happy Thursday all! Enjoy the weekend! (Those of you who get one!) :)

I myself will be winning more when my mom returns home and she helps me deal with two rambunctious dogs. Or rather one puppy and one more a little crazy dog...
That and sleeping in my own g#$&%~n bed. :P
I feel your pain. On the plus side I did ask for it. Two dogs and 6 indoor cats. They ALL like my bed and consider it THEIR bed! I just sometimes get to use the bed when they let me.

Not really fun. It wasn’t a con, I just got sick in a con crud fashion. It was a two-day event giving new hires an overview of the FTC and what the various departments within the agency do. My task was coordinating it, along with a team of others. My specific task was collecting money for the two catered lunches served, so that was relatively stressful. Collecting cash in advance from a hundred lawyers ... not a fun chore.
So now, my nose is weeping and I have a bad cough. To make matters worse, I am supposed to go to Cape Cod this weekend. To add some fun weather to the mix, the remnants of that hurricane that came across the south is going to hit the Atlantic and turn into a classic nor’easter, just at the precise moment I’m supposed to be traveling...
Who said life wasn’t interesting? Well, off to see if this cold will let me exercise this am....
*blink*

Ah, ok, Yeah I saw 'con' and got confused.
That doesn't sound like NEARLY as much fun! :P(Although I like the thought of making lawyers GIVE their money, instead of getting it!) ;)
Sorry your sick, sounds like another job for ZINC/EMRGEN-C/HOT TEA MAN!
:D
I hope you get to go (and enjoy) your trip to Cape Cod. Just out of curiosity, what cool/famous/popular/etc stuff is there to do in Cape Cod? I hear about all the time, but I know no details!
Get over the Simian Flu quickly Monkey! Those abs aint gonna flex themselves! ;P

Doing okay, Cal. The cold is just a nuisance at this stage. Found a clip on Youtube, The History of Halloween
