Olympic Sculpture park, they were just starting this when we left but it has a really cool DNA strand foot bridge and is right on the sound.

Magnuson park, has s*@+loads of free range blackberries and fins of decommissioned subs arranged as if they were whale pods and each one has the name of the sub it came from and a corresponding whale name.

Gasworks park, it's name alone! Kinda cool but more of a summer destination when there's concerts and hippie festivals.

Seattle Center is always cool, I always liked waiting for my wife to get off work there (she worked a block away) especially by the international fountain which jets water 60 in the air to music.

I'll keep at it! Thanks for the memory refresher!

Oh! Alki Ave in West Seattle is always worth a cruise down, it looks more like coastal California then Seattle plus it's a great place to get pictures of downtown Seattle in the morning, and it's a great place for jellyfish watching.

Take a ferry west, preferably in the morning, the sunrise over Seattle is spectacular! Then take the ferry back, unless you have a car there isn't s*$! to do on the Olympic peninsula within reach of the ferry, except quaint coffee shops or bakeries.

Yay! Innerwebz!

*agrees with Cal*

Yay interwebs indeed!

What WOULD I do with all of my spare time if not for you?!?

Oh,... maybe actually, I dunno, be doing my work?

Nah,.... ;P

Work schmerk

What would I do whilst jollying my 50+ soma along in the early am upon the modern torture device known as a Stairmaster?

Ambient cardio music

20 more minutes of cardio then an hour of lifting things up and putting them down

*sigh*

We really need medical maintenance nanomachines with optional ConstantCardio technology

Oh I wanted to post this for you Rags:

Maniac trailer

I’m very glad I tried this on a whim.

Wish me luck, I’m upping my bench weight this AM to 225.

Let’s hope my back complies

It did! Yay!

Did it actually COMPLY?
Or did it just surrender? ;P

O. M. G.

The trailer is better than most of the TV shows I've watched recently.
O_O

Thanks for the notice!

(Adds yet another show to his list of 'Things in my Netflix playlist I'll never get around to watching even though I really want too!')

PATRICK looks thoughtfully into the distance.

A VACATIONER, male, mid-60s in a Hawaiian shirt and shorts, decides to strike up a conversation.

VACATIONER: You seem deep in thought.

PATRICK: I am imagining what nearby implement I could kill you with if you turned into a zombie.

VACATIONER (uncomfortable): Zombies, huh? I guess I’d be headed for a lifeboat.

PATRICK: There are 86 lifeboats on this vessel. The nearest one is 113 feet away, on the port side. Assuming 80% of the passengers turned into zombies, the odds are you would encounter 9 zombies on your way to the boat. I don’t like your chances.

VACATIONER: Say, is that my wife calling me? I’m going to go now.

PATRICK: Good Luck.

End scene

THIS IS AWESOME

be careful. The show gets incredibly depressing at times.

I’m good. I’m the most relentlessly happy person you’re likely to meet. Paradoxically I enjoy nihilistic themes in movies, books, TV shows, and music. I guess it’s the old opposites attract.

Don’t forget FHDM, me and Brianna will be up to NYC the weekend of the 27th. We’d love to hang with you

Gah. I got $260 extra in September from billable hours, then turned right around and spent $255 on a class. But it's about reconstructing/drawing prehistoric plants from fossils! I've never seen it offered before. Must. Have.

Thanks! I'm sure it will be awesome.

I'm still looking for what I assume is the next class in the series: recreating ancient plants using CRISPR.

Also, recreated restaurant cilantro soup today at home - and it's awesome.

This day is winning!

Two of my favorite beasts!

I've had the weirdest day. All day long I've felt like I've been drugged. My thoughts are murky and my short term memory is crap. I had to go run some errands earlier and I drove past EVERY business I was meaning to go to. I have no idea what's going on.

Be careful DMC. Things like cognitive issues can be oxygen starvation in the brain. Go to the doctor if it persists

I will. My first thought it was the new pain med I'm on but I've been on it for a month with no adverse effects. But they increased my dosage so it could possibly be that.

Yeah new med levels are also a good culprit. My dad had some of that when they upped his meds

I never felt this messed up when I was on the opioids, which I only recently stopped taking after 5 years. They helped with the pain more than anything I've ever tried, but with the new laws regarding their distribution and mandatory monthly lab tests to see if I was taking too many or not enough I just didn't want the hassle.

Yeah, opioids

On the one hand a fantastic pain management tool

On the other hand, I watched them hollow out my region and make the hospital I worked at a virtual nightly war zone.

Yeah, they can really destroy lives. I never felt addicted to them at all. I was on Hydrocodone and it did nothing "fun" for me, just dulled my chronic pain. Now back in 2005 after a car wreck in which I broke my left leg in 2 places they put on one called Talwin. Holy crap. I hallucinated on it sometimes but I had NO pain. I did get addicted to that and quit it cold turkey. I told my son what I was about to do and what he could expect. He was 11 at the time and was absolutely terrific in bringing me water and food because I was curled up in bed in withdrawal symptoms. Ever since then I've been really cautious of the narcotic pain meds.
