Iirc, you're on the lower east side, just outside of alphabet city. It is a colorful neighborhood, known for a lot of things that made new York famous in the 80s for all the wrong reasons. Things have changed *significantly* since then, though. As a famous visitor to this website once opined, "Where did all these white people come from?!?!?!?!?!?!"
You should be quite fine there. Things can be a bit intimidating super late at night, but you should be okay. I'll still do a real life visit in the next few days.
Can't remember who's going. Maybe meet up somewhere on the way and carpool to save space?

we had snow on Monday, I'll take the tweaking of spring-lovers noses and call it a win.

I know it cannot be winter all year round. I am willing to accept the start of spring.

Yeah it'll be cool. I've never gone on the NY subway.

this brings to mind images of Orthos reading a how-to-book on strangulation:
Orthos: okay..."put cord A over cord B and pull"... flips page "firmly". Okay. I'm pulling firmly, but the guy is kinda gurgling. Is that a good sound or a bad sound? checks book "some gurgling may occur". Okay. That's good then. Oh man, his legs are quaking, uh...uh... refers to book there's nothing on that here. Am I doing this right? Maybe I should check online...

Here's what would happen if I bought a brand new garrotte.
Captain Yesterday enthusiastically tears open packaging, throws instructions away, without a glance. After ten minutes of apologies and unsuccessful garrotting, calls manufacturer.
Uh, yeah I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong but this guy isn't blacking out... yup,.. Uh huh.. Not the foot then... whoa, that's kind of dark... look, I just want to find out where he hid his lucky charms... really!...any grocery store...

Orthos: I've wanted to get into FMA. Which series should I start with?
FMA and FMA: Brotherhood are mostly the same till about halfway through the first series/7 episodes into the second. FMA is shorter but split from the manga; Brotherhood is faithful to the source all the way through and irons out some pacing.
So...FMA before Brotherhood because otherwise, it's going to feel sluggish when you watch it after.

To get the full impact of FMA - Brotherhood, you must watch the original FMA series at least through to the halfway mark. This is because some things were glossed over in FMA - Brotherhood that are explained in the original series.

I successfully distracted myself from having a panic attack, so I'd call that a win.

Heh,
For my Easter weekend, I'm going (yet again) to a Stage Combat Workshop (our 'little' Louisiana Workshop has become one of the longest running and largest regional workshops in the country) and sword and weapons play for two long tiring days.
Then a day of Crawfish boil on Easter Sunday.
THEN I helped organize a week-long stage combat class her eon campus, so I'll be participating in THAT for a straight week. 30 hours minimum to train/test in a new weapon for certification. :P
So my Spring Break off won't be relaxing, but at least it'll be fun! :)
In case I get too busy, (and I think I will) Happy Easter weekend to all!
I'm gonna be one tired wizard. :/
