Then we'll leave them unnamed, Grimold. I'm right now stuffing my OCD notetaker back in its littlle straitjacket.
* Mmmph *
There. It's now gagged and buckled in. BTW, Eddy the Lich has been added to the note file, along with Lucille and the Fairfield Raiders.
If any of you note errors, let me know.

For the record, I have to look up the proper spelling of "Grask Uldeth" every time I type it. THERE IS NO SPELLING OF THAT THAT LOOKS RIGHT!
Sir Grimold |
I hope you don't mind me getting in on the gag. The Russian word sounded more Orcish than the Mongolian, which has a history of using loan words from Russian anyway.

What, you mean in on OwotD? Hell no, I don't mind! Russian works well too, I just wanted to give it a different spin. No reason there can't be words from both sources.

Good morning Malleus!
Today we had our first official crossover NPC, Procentor Veena Hailu. Both groups are headed her way, and the Fish have actually met her now. I've updated her entry in the Personae file.
Is the file working for you, GM? I've tried to keep note of all NPCs mentioned in gameplay there.

It is morning. It's morning and the go-live date for my big project got pushed back. Since it's not my fault, umm, yay, I guess?

I will try to get Gaurm added to the Personae file.
Malleus, So far I am enjoying the game quite a bit. I am discovering that Gaurm is not quite the same person I thought he was. Still friendly and fairly trusting, but posessed of a much higher capacity for brooding and grimness than I suspected.
Rataji the Resourceful |
Gaurm, you should have editing permission already. Is it not letting you in? Or were you referring to adding in your own back story characters?
Zohruk |
Daen, figure I'll take the shift after you. Middle of the night, it makes sense to have the guy with Darkvision in that spot, restful sleep be damned. :-)

Both adding backstory characters and editing Gaurm's info, but I haven't tried yet, so it is not an issue of not letting me in; it is a matter of me not taking the time yet.
I am also going to put a more detailed bio up in that folder along the lines of what Daen has dropped in there.

I like that it's empathetic brooding.
*Comes across dude with murdered family*
*Sighs*
*Sounds about right, let's get them*
That sums it up pretty well. He 'adopts' people pretty easily. Then they are 'his' people, with all that entails...

Grimold will take first watch. I'll have something up later. Not enough time at the moment to deal with...whatever it is that just happened.
I'm actually looking forward to seeing the reactions from the rest of the team to this bizarre event when you guys get a chance to post.

Evening everyone, just wanted to test for echo. It was awfully quiet for a Monday, you folks made me actually work today. This won't do... :)

Hi.
I was wrong, that's the first thing I need to say. I thought that if I had discipline, I'd be able to manage this many games. It turns out that I don't have that discipline. That's my fault.
That being said, I can't give this game the attention it deserves right now. I'd appreciate it if, instead of simply dropping out, I could just go on hiatus. There may come a time when this works for me, but now isn't it, not with the things going on in my life. Sorry.
Zohruk |
For what my two cents are worth, hell yeah man. Better this now, than a big crash & burn a month from now, y'know?
And don't sweat it. It's okay.
Rataji the Resourceful |
You could always be sent back to relay news of what just happened to Vigil. And yes, take the hiatus that you need. We'll still be here to welcome you with open arms when your life gets more sane.
Hugs from all of us.

Sorry to hear it, but it's definitely the healthy choice.
I'm in the middle of a lot of work at school right now myself. Things should get better for me around midway through March. I should be able to at least keep the pace I've been at though.

Malleus, we haven't seen Kassie at all either. Is it time to bot their fort saves and send Allie on a mission back to report this to town? I'm guessing that Kassie's been hit with IRL issues as well.
Besides, I want to find out now if I get to turn into a shadow-throated thingy, rant, and explode all over my comrades. What's happened since I breathed in the miasma?
Taj
Rataji the Resourceful |
Done. We can send Allie on her mission right after we learn what happens here.
Taj rolled a Knowledge Check on the Ominous Spewer. Can you let us know if she has any idea what this is? I rolled Knowledge Religion, but my Planes bonus is exactly the same if that Knowledge is more applicable.
Taj
PS Feel free to mark Bot Buddy as an NPC... It's quite literally my "it's time to bot people" alias that I use when I GM.
Elo. |

GM, hope you don't mind a quick discussion about rank, might help you better guide the plot/Elo.
Currently, Elo is a sergeant in the Irriseni military. She is effectively on secondment to the crusade, but is still somewhat independent. A similar example would be american soldiers volunteering to go overseas and join british soldiers fighting in WWII, pre-Normandy.
The point is, the Precentor can't PROMOTE Elo to lieutenant in the Irriseni military. What she could do is COMISSION Elo as a lieutenant in the crusade, giving her a second additional rank to complement her Irriseni rank. This would be a somewhat significant move, not handing off a casual title. Again, it'd be if an american soldier fought with the brits in WWII, and they made him a british Lieutenant. It'd be like dual-citizenship, responsibilities and privileges on both sides.
This of course jumps into the issue of how the crusade is structured. Is it all rankless volunteer except for a few titles? Is there a small formal military with ranks and some large semi-independent volunteer batallions? By naming Elo 'lieutenant', does that mean I'm able to order the rest of the party around? Does that mean I'm ultimately responsible for them?
Just a few thoughts.
DM Malleus |
We can discuss. I understand the WWII reference, and how that would be a big deal.
How I would say the crusade normally works would be basic military ranks along the lines of,
Initiate
Crusader
Corporal - Lance Corporal(Cavalry in this setting, not a higher rank as per modern military)
Sergeant - Sapper Sergeant(Siege and trap squad commander) - Knight/Knight of Ozem
Lieutenant - Knight Commander
Captain - Knight Exemplar
Major - High Knight
Commander - High Exemplar
General - Precentor
Lord Watcher.
I was imagining for Elo, closer to Colonial militias in the American revolution, where most were just for hire, or men defending their homes, but the leaders usually held official rank and reported to regular army, though they operated with a level of autonomy
Elo. |
I confess I'm not too up to date on the Colonial military; while they were just men for hire/defending their homes, were they also subject to hanging in case of mutiny/desertion/defying orders?
Any thoughts of what to do with Elo then? What rank, role?

Often referred to as Irregulars, they were not subject to hanging or desertion charges.
The way I wanted it to come off is that this is a last resort for the crusade, Veena is desperately trying to maintain a command structure.
So, I would think of this as a temporary endowment of an officer field commision. Your rank in the Irrisen army is unchanged and your position in the crusade is not permanent(unless you swear the crusader's oath and become a citizen of lastwall).
So as far as Elo is concerned, She is in charge of carrying out the mission you've accepted as she sees fit, with Jericho in second. Veena would expect you to report when you do, and for you to take responsibility for your squad. But should you or your men forfeit your commission, you will not be punished, but you will also not be rewarded or paid.
Sound Fair?
Rataji the Resourceful |
Yep. I've been enjoying reading the other table's gameplay a lot! The two groups are very different, so it's fun seeing their different takes on the shared game world.
