Who is he and where (and which era) did he come from?
I remember him now. He was the leader of the terrorist group the Squad fought in their very first mission. Didn't remember him becoming a member.
I thought Waller only had the authority to recruit prisoners who were convicted in American courts. Since he was defeated by a group that didn't exist, would there have been a trial that might have exposed the squad.
These guys don't seem to be members of the Squad. From what I can gather so far they are prisoners that Waller and others burried so deep they were to never see the light of day again. And when you look at that group I think that's pretty understandable.

Charles,
I'm betting he was some how rendition into the program. That or he was co-opted by Waller before his activities become too heinous. Maybe.
Nightshade has yet to show her self. Nor for that matter has much of the Shadowpact guys. (Detective Chimp, Blue Devil, Nightmaster, or Warlock's Daughter)
Detective Chimp just appeared in the Batman annual.

Charles,
Really!? I must have missed that.
Grey,
Rustam is/was the field leader for Suicide Squad BEFORE Waller did the whole "Bombs in their heads" thing. He, Lobo (not sure which one since it seems like there might be three), Doctor Polaris, Johnny Sorrow and Emerald Empress were given assignments. They did them on the basis they would get some kind of compensation. (Emerald Empress, Saturn Girl's location, Lobo, Money (duh!), Johnny Sorrow (people to kill), and Doctor Polaris the location of his brother I think.)
They did a bad thing and got stuffed into the ground.

I will patiently await new Rebirth specials:
Flash of Two Worlds: Rebirth
Crisis on Infinite Earths: Rebirth
Zero Hour: Rebirth
Infinite Crisis: Rebirth
Final Crisis: Rebirth
Flashpoint: Rebirth
Convergence: Rebirth
DC Universe: Rebirth: Rebirth
Only when all of those titles have been released will I be ready to jump into DC comics.

At one time Lobo's blood would become a totally new Lobo. It was a feature of his race, before he killed them all.
Vril Dox altered Lobo's blood while he was a part of L.E.G.I.O.N. It is possible there are several Lobos flying around out there, including the original as he appeared in Omega Men.
Maybe that was why Lobo killed everyone else, everyone was a copy of him.

He seemd to get that ability back during Young Justice when he was de-aged. That's how we got Slobo.
who honestly Nu52 Lobo could easily be a grown up version of if they decided to keep him around

Yeah, Donna Troy's past kept changing. It seems every new author wanted to put their own spin on her backstory and DC let them do it.
Has anyone seen a list of 2017 Rebirth titles yet. I can't find any.

I hate reboots.
I used to, but I find reading comics much more enjoyable since I've completely given up on hoping for consistency.
Though it helps that I have a lot of holes in my comic reading history, so I probably don't recognize a lot of reboot-related inconsistencies.
Still I actually like a lot of the stories from the Rebirth Universe as presented so far. Had to laugh out loud just yesterday when I saw the Leagues' and Suicide Squads combined reaction on Waller telling them she wanted to be protected by them. Even Batman couldn't hide his smile.

Could have done without Lobo, but since the current DC is limited on powerhouse characters, I guess we are stuck with him.

Wait, wait, I thought the Suicide Squad was by and large Batman-level villains? How the heck did Waller find a way to control four of the strongest and nastiest supervillains* in the DC universe?
* -- As I recall, Polaris is basically a murderous and psychotic version of Magneto; Johnny Sorrow is a human turned Eldritch Abomination capable of standing up to the Spectre; Emerald Empress is on the level of the more powerful Green Lanterns; and Lobo can go toe-to-toe with Superman.

that's just it. It didn't work, they turned on her.
Basically at the time she was working on a bribery system, offering each something they wanted in exchange for services rendered (EX: Emerald Empress wanted the location of Saturn Girl. Lobo wanted Money and so on)
Confronted by a device that would let them effectively become gods Most of them said "screw you Waller" and turned on her. She then offered Lobo more money to trigger her failsafe which was essentially a nuke that looked like a person....She neclected to mention to him about the nuke part just said "Bonus money if you kill that guy right now."
After that she decided "Mini-bomb" in the head would probably work better as incentive and to use less powerful people

Grey is correct, this first one as more of a bribery/pay for jobs kind of deal. That's how she got those guys to work for. Well Johnny Sorrow was a kind of still a fruit basket but killing people made him happy. So...there was that.
Also Jeff, Grey is correct that Ellis will be handling the Wildstorm duties. I don't expect however, there to be much print consistency in terms of always making a deadline.
Finally the fact that she had the Heart of Darkness in her vaults proves she's not someone to trust with large scale powers in my opinion.
Which is probably why I'm glad most of her squad was non-powered until recently.

She knew how dangerous the Heart was and hid it away so no one could use it. That proves some sensibility.
I still think her hatred for the super community is a liability.Charles Scholz |
That is Max's take on things.
He will never admit that he was wrong about anything. It is always someone else's fault.
Of course, both sides of the argument are possible when manipulative people go after each other.

I disagree. The current League is more like a nuke aimed at the 10 mile asteroids heading toward earth. I miss the old League of the 70's to 90's that also fought the smaller threats like Kobra, Amazo,
the Royal Flush Gang, even the Legion of Super Villains.

the lsv is NOT a minor threat. They have been responsible for the deaths of several legionnaires.

Sorry, I was thinking of the Legion of Doom, or whatever they called themselves in the comics as opposed to Super Friends.

Yes within the ballpark no doubt.
So I finished Superman #16 and I'm still as confused as before as to what status DC is talking about with Pre-Flashpoint Superman. I mean it just seems weird but at the same time I'm glad that Justice Incarnate is still rocking out the multiverse thing. But it didn't feel like they were absolutely necessary to beat up a guy that presumable wants to defeat Mister Oz/Ozymandius. Maybe?

I agree, it is a little confusing about what is going on.
As for beating up the bad guy, it wasn't that he wanted to beat whomever, it was that he was kidnapping/depowering/killing other people just so he could save himself and telling the rest to go to hell.
