The stealth cull! Thanks once more for announcing it, Chris.

I'm afraid I already know the answer, but is there any chance we can get a best guess time estimate? I saw my item for the first time yesterday early afternoon eastern time, but now I don't know if that means it survived, or was just a fond farewell and sendoff. So more nail biting suspense till it shows up on the radar.

@Chris Shaeffer:
Interestingly enough, I noticed that I was getting a more limited supply of items last night, but random doesn't mean patternless: look how easy it is for children to see shapes in the clouds.
So, with no announcement and with the sure and certain knowledge that all culls are officially announced, I went on believing no cull had happened on Monday, despite my prediction on Thursday that one would happen on Friday or monday, and that if one happened Friday I would expect to see one on Monday as well b/c of all the weekend voting.
I had a mild sad that my prediction did not come to pass, and yet! Here we are. I had a better roll on that augury than I thought.
Do the previous upvotes count after each cull? Or do they cull and then start from scratch to see how things shake out? Just curious. I don't think it changes the philosophy much either way.
Well, if 325 items remain I foresee that the culling will stop.
The number is big enough to keep it interesting for the voters and small enough to generate a solid op 32.
In the 27 minutes since you posted that, it's risen to 337. :P I'm guessing we'll hit at least 350.

I'm still hoping they'll get down somewhere between 200 and 250.
32 + alternates territory still (<360)
I think they will put their faith in the very awesome human sorting power and not do another cull.

Most of the items I workshopped on have survived (mine included). I still hold hope for the one missing.
And since my item made it past the third cull, I need to say :
"CULLS FOR THE CULL GOD"

I don't understand why I'm not seeing a greater variety of items. I've seen two dozen or more items three or more times each and I've only voted about 150 times.

Site was down for a moment there was it the Herald of another cull?
Perhaps the cullmination of our voting efforts.

Its coming was foretold. And we shall know it by the signs.

I don't think so, I just voted on everything real quick and they look to be all there. I blame the Occult Bestiary! Or Cosmo...

Site was down for some routine site modifications. Culling will likely commence as soon as everything is tested. =) Will probably happen a bit before 2.

However replying to the post always lets you see the url in the bbcode.
Though I'll be honest. If the link says I'm going to youtube, I normally click it for my daily fix.

OK, prognostication time.
I did not try to estimate the first cull.
My estimate of items remaining after the second cull was off by 1 (449 vs 448).
My estimate of items remaining after the third cull was off by 12 (361 vs 373).
My official estimate of items remaining after the fourth cull is 282. That assumes they've gotten caught up on looking at DQs, but the projection stands regardless.

So the herald of the Culls = some Goblins destroying computer equipment... to the conspiracy theory thread.
This next cull is gonna' hurt...

We stand against the small tide of those who want to make everyone unhappy with conflicting theory and thought. We have our fingers in the dike. Hold steady. Don't let the torrent of melancholy and drear philosophy items drown our world.
I love how everyone is marathon voter/champion/etc voter season 9 for every previous RPGSS they've voted in now.
Mwahaha, they've culled your voting titles. Bet you didn't see that coming.

Just curious, are we still waiting for this cull to happen?

Our selection algorithm thrives on data—the more the better—and relative rankings of the surviving items were just as valid at the start of the voting period as they are now. So the data is not cleared.

Are each of our votes agnostic to any other votes we have made, or does each voter add as much data as possible by also ranking items relative to other items you have already voted on? Also wondering, how you ensure voters don't submit logical paradoxes if it recalls your previous votes? Just curious.

I no longer have that information stored in my head, as I haven't had to think about it for a couple years. About all I can tell you is we're using a modified version of the Schulze Method. And the most important thing is the number of voters who prefer A to B or A to C or B to C; whether you personally prefer A to B to C isn't a factor.
