Absolutely agree with you on drawbacks, Cthulhu. In my games, they are a given and my players know nothing will be all powerful or game breaking.
I would also add that I am also a sucker for items that aren't class specific. I think it's a true test of mojo to make an item anyone can use. But that's just me.

I tend to enjoy "Pro undead" items. OR rather items that help out the measly little zombie.
Specifically zombies and skeletons. Mostly I just think necromancers are under loved.
And I love the idea of a "Good necromancer." I.E. A necromancer who studies death, and wields the dead, but asks permission first, and won't go grave-robbing or murdering to make his undead army.

i'm neutral about pro-undead items, but knowing now that so many people auto-downvote them because of some personal pet peeve (vs voting based on what is the best product of a future Paizo designer), i'll be auto-upvoting them from now on just to equalize one of those auto-downvoters. :(

I'm not against them, I just don't think magic items should be created to pave over problems in building a proper threatening necromancer. Or to turn undead into yet-another-MiaC, or worse, appliances/butlers.
But they aren't an auto-downvote for me. At least not until Paizo gets around to making a proper necromancer in Ultimate Undeath.*
* Seriously, make this happen. It would sell like crazy, and then you could do a wonderfully horrible all undead AP.**
** And the undead-filled Geb. I'd love an Geb gazetteer & adventure.

10/10, love this idea.
