Telekinetic Haul Duration

Telekinetic Haul is based on your Basic Telekinesis, which works like Mage Hand, which has a duration of concentration. So, Telekinetic Haul should have a duration of concentration.

But Telekinetic Haul also has this option:

Quote:
If you accept 1 point of burn, the maximum weight increases to 1,000 pounds per kineticist level you possess and the duration increases to 1 minute per kineticist level you possess.

So, does the duration increase to (Concentration + 1 minute/level)? Or does the duration just change to (1 minute/level)?

It's tough, because "increase to" implies that the duration is improving, but if the duration "changes to", then the duration also becomes tightly limited, where it was previously extendable for as long as you needed it.

But the use of "to" implies that it changes to the following value, otherwise it would have said "increases by".

At any rate it should be worded either "increases by" or "changes to". Saying "increases to" is worthless in this situation.

I think it means that if you accept 1 point of burn, whenever you use basic TK or TK haul within the next 1min/level it will have the increased weight allowance. This would allow you to stop concentrating for a few rounds/minutes and you wouldn't have to re-accept burn for the increased allowance.

We played it that for 1 burn you could do other things for a minute, and return to concentrate on the spell again, doing this repeatedly if you wanted, so lift 4k, get into a fight, move the 4k to somewhere where you have to concentrate on something else for a bit (so burn again) then concentrate to grab it back, etc...

Probably not canonical, but that's how we interpreted it.
