Haven't looked too closely at most of the replies, but I've often wondered what it would be like to reflect some male/female differences mechanically. For instance, females have a higher pain tolerance, so maybe a bonus to saves against pain effects? Like, guy and gal both get impaled, the dude goes "BLAAARRGH!!!" while the chick goes "F*** YOU I MAKE BABIES" and pulls the weapon out and kills the enemy with it.

On the other hand, I could see some members of both sexes getting up in arms about the other sex's benefits, so maybe that's too risky of a move? I dunno. Intriguing question though.

As for Law vs. Chaos, the main example here is Hell (masculine) vs. the Abyss (feminine).

It's more about themes rather than mechanics, though; certainly Asmodeus is tolerating Abrogail's rulership of Cheliax, and the two demon lords most actively affecting Golarion are both male.

It's been tried before, generally to unsatisfactory results. ^_^

Also, re: Erastil, it's important to note that James Jacobs has been very clear about these aspects being inaccurate/unintended. See also: paladins of Asmodeus.

Bachelor snuff is ineffective on females--and on non-humanoids, which might explain all the human/dragon interbreeding out there. (“I thought you said you were using bachelor snuff!” “Uh, on reflection, Shapechange might not actually change my creature type...”)

Kalindlara,

I've looked through the "Ask James Jacobs Anything" thread, and I haven't found a post supporting Jacobs' contradicting SKR's article.

The Erastil article was written by SKR in his role as "the gods guy" and his designer's notes explain that he was trying to reconcile a traditionalist view of family with a lawful good alignment. So, that setting element was deliberate, a major part of an article by someone who knew what he was doing. As opposed to the "paladins of Asmodeus" (a minor aside in a very early AP) or "only dragon clerics of Apsu can cast spells" (a one-sentence throwaway wrtten by a freelancer) sorts of errors.

Could you point me to where JJ reverses the article?

I suspect your methodology was wrong - I searched his post history for "Erastil women". Took me all of 90 seconds. ^_^

I would note that "paladins of Asmodeus" do come from a very early AP, e.g. the one immediately before Kingmaker. They're literally the same era.

As for Apsu, I never studied the dragon gods, but if it was Moreland, I believe he was part of Paizo at the time.

That's a game breaker right there.

We should nerf casters and boost martials to make up for this massive oversight.

:D
