Chinese Trailer

Has a couple new details.

Spoiler:

Rey understanding astromech, "You're classified? Yeah, me too."

Finn, "We need a pilot"
Rey, "We have one"
Then a cut to Han, chewy and the kids, which presumably is later because...

A clearer shot of the Rey Pilot Chair scene, where its clearly Jakku out the window when she's flying... solo.

BB8 obviously being Poe's inflight astromech

First Order flight squad flying toward a planet through an asteroid / debris field, maybe Yavin and the debris is DS1?

Spoiler:
Also, apparently Starkiller Base is also vulnerable to TRD (Trench Run Disease). You would think after 30 years Imperial engineers would learn their lesson.

Those engineers all died on TRD immune DS2. Copyright in the Empire probably lapsed with the presumably upheaval in galactic politics following Palaptine's death (and as economist have show, galactic economic collapse), so the DS1 plans were public domain. First Order, being an Order and all, don't want let anything goto waste, so recycle ideas.

Time Magazine gave above those details and more last week as they were allowed to see the first twenty minutes of the movie. The Chinese trailer does have the most spoilerly trailer so far, hence my warning on the last page.

The movie coming out next week means they are allowing for more controlled leaks to trickle out.

Also I don't think the Death Star I weakness is shared by Starkiller Base.

All I'm saying is we did see some trenches at a facility in the snow, and we saw an X-wing flying down towards them at the end of the last trailer.

Whether there is a weakness there or not is hard to say.

Ah. I had read "vulnerable' in your spoilered post as meaning weakness.

Carry on.

Even if Starkiller base was vulnerable to TRD, its not like there are any Jedi's around who can hit Vomp rats in their crappy 2000 credit T-16's back home.

You would need the force to awaken in some unknown kid for that to happen.

Am I excited? DAMN STRAIGHT I AM!

In the meantime here are aliens and creatures that will be all too familiar to us in the weeks to come.

I wasn't that excited (haven't been all along), until this trailer. This is the one they should have put out all along!

9/10 Not too shabby.

I gave myself 7 out of 10, my finger slipped on one.

So 10/10 but one trick question was solid in my favor because I posted in the late 90's how Leia was the best shot on the average, and I used her very early discipline and her Force Sensitivity as part of this reasoning.

In the early Marvel comics she took out two Stormtroopers with one point black shot.

Just a minor, nitpicky point of order.

Trench Run Disorder or Syndrome is not an engineering thing, it was the irrational fear of one man snub fighters that many Imperial Navy officers developed after the Battle of Yavin.

TRS is a childish and irrational fear.

REAL IMPERIAL MEN wake up screaming, trembling and in cold sweats from recurring dreams of the Executor with its full contingent of the elite officer core being pulled in the the Death Star's gravity well and atomizing on the battle station's (fully armed and operational) superstructure.

I got the Leia one right, I missed the Mon Cal homeworld. I was thrown because they share it with the Quarren who are second class citizens, so I was thinking they named it after themselves.

Its a trap ACKBAR "concentrate all power on that super star destroyer!"

Admiral Piet : concentrate all fire power on the forward batteries, I don't want anything getting through!

Admiral Piet ' I said concentrate all fire power!:

Kamakazie A wing pilot "AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!"

Doomed Imp officer "Too late"

Bridge goes bye bye.

Favorite part of entire movie for me.

If the Imperials were so paranoid of TRD, they certainly didn't act on it enough to stop a few snub fighters from (a) taking out their most important shield generators or (b) put enough AA batteries in the trenchs that was the Executors topside.

Well, they did design the lancer class frigate to try to combat TRD, but that was never very successful. It also may have been retconned.

The Lancer class was never produced in the numbers where they could have seen their full potential, although had they been they would most likely have taken a toll on the Rebellion's snub fighters.

While the Lancer has not been relegated to be out of canon per se, the current anti fighter ship du jour is the Imperial Raider class which is canon.

As far as I know the Raider-class is not in fact canon.

Dark Archive

The Star Wars Marvel Comic lines are currently considered canon, and the Raider has made an appearance.

Just the new ones or the old ones too?

Scarab Sages

The star wars marvel ones are Canon. The imprint came about after the eu wipe, and include things like the Vader comic, the Leia comic, and a number of other one offs.

But not the old (80s?) Marvel comics. Those lost canon status along with everything else.

Liberty's Edge

Even the old Marvel Star Wars comics form the 1970s and 80s?

Disney sure is hedging their bets they make their $4.1 Billion back.

And then some.

Yeah, a little sick of all the marketing hype going into it, but I suppose if it works to get people to go to it and Disney makes it's money, that's what it's there for.
