Ok guys I'm going to be starting up a Kingmaker game.

Werewolf Hunter You spent a great deal of your life hunting lycanthropes. You may have lost a loved one to a werewolf attack, or you survived an attack by one yourself, and you have sworn to prevent this from happening to anyone else. To that end, you procured a silvered weapon. You came to Falcon’s Hollow to pick up this weapon from a local smith just as the town seems to be coming down with some sort of plague. Choose one weapon (not a double weapon) with which you are proficient; you start play with an alchemically silvered version of this weapon.

Bonus Feat Humans select one extra feat at 1st level.

Skilled Humans gain an additional skill rank at first level and one additional rank whenever they gain a level.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency A slayer is proficient with all simple and martial weapons, as well as with light armor, medium armor, and shields (except tower shields).

Studied Target (Ex) A slayer can study an opponent he can see as a move action. The slayer then gains a +1 bonus on Bluff, Knowledge, Perception, Sense Motive, and Survival checks attempted against that opponent, and a +1 bonus on weapon attack and damage rolls against it. The DCs of slayer class abilities against that opponent increase by 1. A slayer can only maintain these bonuses against one opponent at a time; these bonuses remain in effect until either the opponent is dead or the slayer studies a new target.

If a slayer deals sneak attack damage to a target, he can study that target as an immediate action, allowing him to apply his studied target bonuses against that target (including to the normal weapon damage roll).

At 5th, 10th, 15th, and 20th levels, the bonuses on weapon attack and damage rolls, as well as the bonus to slayer ability DCs against a studied, target increase by 1. In addition, at each such interval, the slayer is able to maintain these bonuses against an additional studied target at the same time. The slayer may discard this connection to a studied target as a free action, allowing him to study another target in its place.

At 7th level, a slayer can study an opponent as a move or swift action.

Track (Ex) A slayer adds 1/2 his level (minimum 1) to Survival skill checks made to follow tracks.

Formatting:

Hello players, quick! Look at your character sheet, now look at mine, back to yours, now back to mine. Sadly, your character sheet is not mine, but it could be like mine with the proper formatting.

All players should get their sheets to resemble my own. Because I have OCD problems when things are not uniform. If your sheet does not look like mine I will hound you every day until it does.

In addition, please include in your class levels area of your profile information such as this:

Ini +5; HP 10/10; AC 16 T 12 FF14; Fort+3 Ref +4 Will+3; Perc +4

Posting Habits:

This is the most important aspect. I want to run a very active game here.

Kingmaker is the type of game where the game advances according to the players. I have very little way to drive the story.

As such, every player should be pushing the story forwards whenever they can. In addition, I expect the players who apply to be able to post consistently and frequently. By that I mean 3, 4, 5 posts a day. If you cannot meet this specification, please do not apply as if you are selected it will only lead to your subsequent removal.

CRs and Encounters:
When it comes to encounters in pathfinder APs all I'm often looking at is the theme of the encounter and the CR. After which I will add, retool, and generally do whatever the hell I please to it.

This means you can end up fighting something far higher than the CR suggests or something particularly nasty that isn't at all like it's base monster description. A troll is not a troll is a troll is a troll. Expect that.

In one of my live games (through a mixture of bad luck, bad decisions, and circumstance) I once killed the same player 11 times in 8 sessions... I'm not proud... or sorry... (By the time you will have read this he will be dead a 12th time.)

In short, be smart. I'm not going to try to kill you, but don't expect that just because you're walking through an Auromvorax's den that you should be itching to fight it at level 3 either.

Rules Disputes:
I tend to be a Rules As Intended type of guy when I can be. When we have a rules question or dispute, which will at some point or another arise, you may present your argument and I will make the final decision based on how I feel about it. This means sometimes I will rule in your favor, and other times I will not. Please accept my ruling and continue on with the game. I don't want to get bogged down for three days over trying to find an official ruling that may or may not exist.

Maps:

We will be handling our maps on the Roll20 system, please be sure your system can handle using it and that you are able to access it.

Timezones:

I'm on the East Cost US, and stay up till around 2am. I would like for the applicants to this game be either from the US or Canada only so we can keep a consistent posting schedule. If you're from another country and stay up at hours where we will be playing, you are free to apply but remember that I will be forced to remove you if you slow down the party.

Ok, that out of the way, onwards to the ruling.

Point Buy: 20
Races: All Core, rest Case by Case, I'll accept most things but I don't want an entire party of Gnolls, Lizardfolk, Ifrit, Android, etc.
Sources: All Paizo Pathfinder sources, excluding the current playtest.
Traits: Two traits, one must be campaign, drawback for third.
Wealth: 150g
HP: Max at first, then half max +1 after that.

Please obviously include a general background for your character. I'm not going to put any rules here, some backgrounds are fine being just a paragraph or two. Some need to be longer, give me an idea of who your character is, you know better than me how many words that takes.

I'm not sure how many players I'll be taking yet so let's just set the bar between 4 and 8.

Recruitment will last until either the 12th, or I find enough submissions that I like. Whichever comes first - with the possibility of even extending recruitment if I've yet to find enough applicants.

On Monday and Friday I am unable to post for most of the day, do you think that will be a problem?

Nohwear wrote:

The forecast is grim.

What do you think about Paladins? Some GMs do not really like them.
For deity either erastil or Iomedea.

Silver Crusade

Half Orc Slayer of Gorum... I see it now.

I work the graveyard shift so all of my posts would be around 3am to 5am and around 3pm to 5 pm. would that even work. i think i could manage 3 a day. saturdays are my free day. And on sunday i have in person gaming. but after i can post, so around midnight to 4am.

This is a fairly high amount of posts I assume there will be no penalty for life happening?

I have been waiting to try this one out. It is the piazo game i want to run when my homebrew game finally ends sometime next year.

If i get to i would like to be a bard who goes into shadow dancer or a oracle from the seer archetype. Pending which one is needed.

Very interested. Will rework and submit once it matches your character sheet and set up.

Interested. So far. Tiefling "erinyes". Just reflavoured. Ranger. Might go horizon walker

I am at gmt+2

Sovereign Court

Well let me change this to a Divine hunter Paladin of Erastil

While I fear that I may not be able to post enough for you, I will prepare to make a character. Can I make a Goblin? I would like to make an alchemist using one of their racial archetypes.

Ok, I think I can handle the posting requirements, and I am in the central time zone.

@DM Tuyena: Do you have a problem with the Rich Parents trait? I know a number of DMs that do, so I figured I would ask before building.

Sovereign Court

GMT zone, multiple postings per day no problem

Elven Immunities: Elves are immune to magic sleep effects and gain a +2 racial saving throw bonus against enchantment spells and effects.

Keen Senses: Elves receive a +2 racial bonus on Perception checks.

Druids are proficient with the following weapons: club, dagger, dart, quarterstaff, scimitar, scythe, sickle, shortspear, sling, and spear. They are also proficient with all natural attacks (claw, bite, and so forth) of any form they assume with wild shape (see below).

Druids are proficient with light and medium armor but are prohibited from wearing metal armor; thus, they may wear only padded, leather, or hide armor. A druid may also wear wooden armor that has been altered by the ironwood spell so that it functions as though it were steel. Druids are proficient with shields (except tower shields) but must use only wooden ones.

Nature Bond: At 1st level, a druid forms a bond with nature. This bond can take one of two forms. The first is a close tie to the natural world, granting the druid one of the following cleric domains: Air, Animal, Earth, Fire, Plant, Water, or Weather. Druids also have access to a set of Animal and Terrain Domains. When determining the powers and bonus spells granted by this domain, the druid's effective cleric level is equal to her druid level. A druid that selects this option also receives additional domain spell slots, just like a cleric. She must prepare the spell from her domain in this slot and this spell cannot be used to cast a spell spontaneously.

Feron Chose the Plant Domain; Subdomain Growth

Nature Sense: A druid gains a +2 bonus on Knowledge (nature) and Survival checks.

Green Empathy (Ex)

At 1st level, a treesinger can improve the attitude of a plant creature. This ability functions just like a Diplomacy check made to improve the attitude of a person. The treesinger rolls 1d20 and adds her druid level and her Charisma modifier to determine the wild empathy check result. The typical wild plant creature has a starting attitude of indifferent.

To use green empathy, the treesinger and the plant creature must be within 30 feet of one another under normal conditions. Generally, influencing a plant creature in this way takes 1 minute but, as with influencing people, it might take more or less time.

A treesinger can also use this ability to influence an animal, but she takes a –4 penalty on the check.

This ability replaces the wild empathy class feature.

Orisons (Sp)

Druids can prepare a number of orisons, or 0-level spells, each day, as noted on Table: Druid under “Spells per Day.” These spells are cast like any other spell, but they are not expended when cast and may be used again.

Plant Domain

Granted Powers: You find solace in the green, can grow defensive thorns, and can communicate with plants.
Enlarge (Su): As a swift action you can enlarge yourself for 1 round, as if you were the target of the enlarge person spell. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier.

Bramble Armor (Su): At 6th level, you can cause a host of wooden thorns to burst from your skin as a free action. While bramble armor is in effect, any foe striking you with an unarmed strike or a melee weapon without reach takes 1d6 points of piercing damage + 1 point per two cleric levels you possess. You can use this ability for a number of rounds per day equal to your cleric level. These rounds do not need to be consecutive.

Domain Spells: 1st—enlarge person 2nd—barkskin, 3rd—plant growth, 4th—command plants, 5th—righteous might, 6th—repel wood, 7th—animate plants, 8th—control plants, 9th—shambler.

Backstory
--------------------

Feron has travelled from the Verduran Forest, a newly (relatively speaking) cut sapling of the Green Faith. After wandering for a while, he has stopped in Brevoy to replenish his supplies. While there, Feron heard tell of an expedition being sent south to explore the mostly wild Stolen Lands. Although not one for organized expiditions, Feron considered the opportunity to travel into a new and dangerous land with the defense that comes with traveling companions. The coin too will help him trade for more planting supplies. With any luck, he might even find a suitable location for a new Druidic Circle, a major achievement for a novice like himself.

Perfect. Would you consider the following sufficient for explaining the trait?

Background:
Vladimir was born and raised in Brevoy to a wealthy merchant family that had just recently purchased their nobility. Ever anxious to flaunt their new nobility, Vladimir's family sent the children of the family far and wide across the Inner Sea region, in order to provide the children with a broad education. Each of the the Ducheski children was sent along with a guardian, usually a hired mage of sorts, to watch over them as they found themselves at various times in their lives at the Kitharodian Academy in Oppara, studying the writings of Kalistrade in Druma, spending days upon end in the halls of the Grand Lodge of the Pathfinder Society in Absalom, or seemingly countless other houses of knowledge.

Vladimir's favorite, and oddly closest to home, was studying sword play with the Swordlords of Restov. Vladimir seemed to have a natural knack for the style of swordmanship the Brevic Swordlords taught, and found himself as the exclusive student of Swordlord Nicomo Mikalos. For eight long years, Vladimir trained under the tutelage of Master Mikalos, learning the subtleties of defensive positioning and how to wait for the proper opportunity to strike.

Upon hearing of the charter to reclaim the Stolen Lands from lawless bandits, Vladimir saw the chance to make a name for himself as something other than pampered child, and at the same time bring a bit of true honor and prestige to the Ducheski name.

Kingmaker is part homebrew/part Ap. Sometimes I like Kingmaker really much, other times I have a strong dislike for Kingmaker, mostly it depends upon how the DM runs things. I've been in various Kingmaker games, most of them shut down, while another I didn't have fun in. Most Kingmakers I liked however, and I never made it past the first book. Only one Kingmaker game I did not like, maybe it was the DMs style, but for the most part I love Kingmaker. And no 2 Kingmakers have ever been the same, even if you land in the same Hexes, because of so much homebrewing you can do, as well as other factors, like which Hexes you land in first, so it is always the game of surprise.

Just wanted to give the DM a heads up, but I'm dotting for now, and I'll probably read up on some of your other games that you've played/DMed if there are any.

Dotting this while I start up a character concept. Will play around with HeroLab tonight and then convert to your format.

Your stipulations are agreeable, I think they will lend themselves to the kind of PBP I have been looking for.

I would like to submit the dancing blade. I can easily do the post requirments. I post a lot during the work day.

im doting with the character i plan to submit, gramlag is currently not up to your aplication requirements but i will fix that no problem. so your aware i work from home as a call center rep, i spend most of my days on here looking at stuff, i can certainly post quite abit and enjoy doing so as long as im not stepping on toes.

id also like to ask if the layout of my character sheet is close enough to what you have there or any specific complaints you might have about it. please ignore the specifics of the stats and gear as i will have to adjust those from what they currently are.

final note, im fairly new to PBP (if you look though my post history youll see ive done some pregame RP but havnt been selected yet for any actual campains, personally im really really bad at writing a back story for a character, but i like to think im goodf at the roleplay part, feel free to look over the post history for Gramlag here and see the few things ive done, im super happy to take tips on anything you would like, i really wanna try out this character as i find the build idea interesting and i personally love roleplaying dwarves.

I'm not planning on submitting a character, since I'm working on my own Kingmaker edits for a future game, but I'd like to advocate for Gramlag as a good role-player. I enjoyed his posts a lot in the pre-game RP for GM Shathira's Wrath of the Righteous, and was kind of bummed I didn't get to play with him.

GM Aest AKA Tatyana Selitov

Dot
Central, (-6:00) I work afternoons, off mondays. So most of my posting would be during the morning and at night

Thank you! This will help take the pressure off so I can finish up prep-work for my own Kingmaker campaign, and hopefully start up my recruitment just as you're finishing up yours.

I think every AP has aspects of Homebrew, there isn't really a way around it. The APs just aren't equipped to deal with contact with players.

But it's true that Kingmaker in particular has very large batches of Homebrew in it due to its nature. It's something that I'm aware of from running a live version of the game that went *very* different to how the AP would normally run.

okay so I don't see many games you were in and the only thing I have to go off of is 2nd darkness. May I please see a roleplay sample or two as to how you would run Kingmaker?

Again, may I play a goblin alchemist using one of their racial archetypes?

I would like to apply with this character. He was made for another Kingmaker game, so I hope he meets your criteria.

thank you.

Second Darkness should be a reasonable enough indicator of how I do things. It's not really possible to post up a mock rp because it's almost always dictated by the party you have.

Is there the restriction on alignment? How open are you to Home brewy things?

I'm Interested in making a swashbuckler of zonkuthon, that finesses a Spiked chain. I was wondering if we could make a home-brewy modification to the Whirling Dervish archetype, replacing scimitar with spiked chain, and then some zonkuthon flavored deeds.

If that's not your cup of tea, ill head back to drawing boards.

Most fortuitous that another Kingmaker game is starting up so soon after I had to drop out of the other recruitment! Fate conspired to make me drop out only to have the issues forcing the drop to resolve themselves.

I would like to apply for this game with this alias, Khargol Uzgurn, half-orc Inquisitor of Abadar. I've already got the basic stuff set up on the profile, but I've got to re-format the equipment list using your gold restrictions and the format you'd like used to represent gear and what-not. I have every intention of finishing that stuff up, just wanted to get my dot in before you decide you've had enough applications.

If you have any questions about the character crunch or background, please feel free to ask. Thanks very much for your consideration!

EDIT: I've a question for you, also. I'd like to cast Khargol as someone who keeps a travel journal/ledger/whatever kind of record-keeping device you want to call it, but the closest thing that I can find to that in the gear list is a portrait book/spell book, which is 10 GP. Is that the price you'd want me to use for an unused book of blank pages or is there some other price you'd set that at?

That's actually the price given for a journal in the Ultimate Equipment hardcover. I would assume that's because there's no significant difference between a journal for keeping notes or recording a travel log, and a traveling spellbook for keeping your most useful spells in, aside from the actual content.

I've listed some rice paper and charcoal for my character. That might be an option as well. Feron plans on taking his own notes.

O great and powerful DM Tuyena.

How would you feel about a LN paladin? A cleans-the-heretic type, who replaces Good and Evil with Law and Chaos. I've never been happy with the prerequisites and lack of synergy with the Hellknight.

Boom! Here you go. Half-Orc Bard. One thing though. Thundercaller replaces bardic knowledge with Bound to the Land. That gives me 1/2 bard levels to Survival and Nature checks but does not actually give me the skill Survival as a class skill. Can this be changed?

Is there the restriction on alignment? How open are you to Home brewy things? I'm Interested in making a swashbuckler of zonkuthon, that finesses a Spiked chain. I was wondering if we could make a home-brewy modification to the Whirling Dervish archetype, replacing scimitar with spiked chain, and then some zonkuthon flavored deeds. If that's not your cup of tea, ill head back to drawing boards.

I'm much more inclined to reflavouring than adjusting mechanics.

If you want to take a scorpion whip and call it a spiked chain, that's fine.

I'm not exactly enthralled by the alignment system either, but paladin is LG. Consider something like Chevalier.

Sure you can take a trait to give you it.. boom.

yeah...I want a different trait and I can't find a drawback that fits.

DM Tuyena, does Khargol meet your submission requirements? Think I've got him matched to your template pretty closely but I want to be sure rather than just assuming it's fine.

I believe there is an arch type that replaces Good/Evil with Law/Chaos

Oh s+$#, yes that sounds awesome.

Silver Crusade

There is no archetype that I have seen. Unless you mean the Inquisitor? IE Smite whatever I want?

Talomyr checking in with his submission, Vladimir Ducheski, Order of the Blue Rose Cavalier (Daring Champion)

@DM Tuyena: Thanks for offering to run the game and taking the time to look at my submission. If you have any questions/concerns or would like further information on something, please do not hesitate.

Phew! Reformat complete!

Hi there! pinvendor here submitting Durielle Omenstar, Seer Oracle (Time). Other than applying your format template to her horse Whisper, she should be all set.

There's a roleplay example in there from a former submission, so let me know what you think.

Also, since I know it may come up as a "Huh?", Durielle is carrying an Aldori Dueling Sword which requires an Exotic Weapon Prof—buuuut it can be treated as a basic longsword, and Durielle can use longswords thanks to her elfiness. So mechanically it doesn't change anything, but since it is a Kingmaker campaign, it felt thematically appropriate. HeroLab was actually the thing that presented the option to me, so I went for it, but if you hate it, I can can swap it out no problem.

Looks reasonably close, I'd ask that you unspoiler the crunch and that should be good.
