2015 Meet and Greet?

Given that the size of the convention has grown and that it is now being held in a larger venue, I think a viable question is whether a pre-con event like this can still be held? Perhaps coordinating smaller groups, or car pooling to the AFK Tavern is more in order. I am not familiar with the hotel restaurant and how many people it can hold. I know that there is a Denny's, & Dave's Diner nearby but I do not think they could hold a fraction of our group.

So as a community, what should we do?

afk all the way!!

The AFK Elixirs & Eatery is much closer to the hotel than the original one.

I think AFK is going to have to be the option here. I have opted out of running these now that the numbers well exceed a manageable size.

There are many places in Southcenter down the hill to eat. claim jumper is even closer now. I will likely have our smaller Paizo fans United Meet and Eat nearby. Sharp's Roaster is across the way.....

This hotel is well known to me, and the eating options are WAY better than before. This hotel is huge too, so we should fit in nicely....I will be setting up shop in the bar to meet you all during the con!

AFKE&E is going to be packed all four days of the con (all four nights, too, if you're counting Thursday night). I'm not sure how easily it will be for them to manage an organized invasion above and beyond the one they can already expect.

Regardless, I hope to spend some time at the place, and will definitely be at the hotel bar hanging with Tim and others.

Liberty's Edge

thats why you contact afk months in advance to reserve room

The Exchange

Well, I did contact the AFK E&E and they don't think it would be a problem to have the Meet and Greet there again this year. Just need to get some sort of a headcount and a timeframe for when people want to get together. :)

...and figuring out car pooling for those from out of town.

Perhaps just tell them we could fill the entire restaurant if they let us - we heavily overcrowded the space on the right last year, with minimal advertising for it. However much space they're willing to set aside we can fill.

Also setup a Meet & Eat signup on the warhorn for pre-con games, if people want to sign up there: LINK

Sovereign Court

so do we have an update on this yet?

This is my first year and I'd really like to partake in the Meet and Greet.

I just want to say that for anyone worried, just hanging around the hotel lounge acts like a Meet & Eat, as long as you speak up and say hello to people (or get hello'd by someone else). Not as intense as the full-on event style M&E, but it's a great experience (just ask Painlord!)

Painlord is usually drunk by this point and is happy to be merely clothed and not dancing naked upon the tables.

Surely, if you ask Painlord anything, it should not be this.

Yes, this makes many of us very happy.

I think I will be enabling Painlord in this adventure as we need to celebrate THE GREATEST PITCHING PERFORMANCE IN WORLD SERIES HISTORY. That's right, I'm talking about Game 7.

I'll totally drink to that. Best ever.

Mujaba, I see no "Goblin Brains" thread yet for 2015. Are you doing that again? If so, sign me up for one!

Hi WiseWolf! Have no fear, the goblin brain harvest looks promising this year. The Goblin Brain Reservation Thread usually goes up about 30 days prior. I do traditionally accept *one* reservation prior to that, however someone beat you to it:

I would like to try to get a somewhat accurate headcount of how many people would like to show up for the Meet and Greet at the AFK. Do you think 200 would be good?

I thought 200 was more than they could hold, but it sounds like a pretty safe bet.

The Exchange

Well, the whole of the restaurant could hold almost 400 people, but the various areas only have so much space, but I figure that people could roam and visit and if people want to gather for gaming, there would be plenty of space for tables to be put together.

The AFK Elizers and Eatery was the site last year.....can hold up to about 100 folk. The food is great and the company is awesome. I for one vote for the

Afk :)

Sovereign Court

I am up for whereever ... just name the time! ;)

Reservation for the PaizoCon Meet and Greet has been set up at the AFK for Thursday, 5/21 @ 6:00 PM. It is set up for 100 people, and that will give us one whole section of the restaurant for our group. Hope to see you all there. :)

For those flying in is there a way to get there without a car? And can someone post directions? I for one get in Wednesday and would be up for this.

A lot of people will be going back and forth between the hotels and AFK E&E I'm sure. If you can't secure a ride before the week of, shoot me a PM. I'm local, and can do a little taxiing if needed. Its about 7 miles from the airport to AFK E&E, but I can easily make the slight detour.

That's what I love, about this community. Someone who has no idea who I am is willing to go out f their way to take me to the meet and greet. Thank you and if I can't secure any other easier for you means I will shoot you a pm.

Dark Archive

There's also Uber, a car service you can sign up for and "call" up on your phone. You should be able to split the cost between multiple riders, so it's also an option.

Disclaimer: I'm an Uber driver in the Greater Seattle Area (mostly around Tacoma).

I live in Federal Way, and it's a 5-ish extra minute alternate route for me to pick someone at the hotel up. I hit up AFK E&E every Thursday as one of the main GM's for our PFS meets there. IMO, it's no big deal to take a few extra minutes out of my way to do this.

You may need to ignore some baseball talk, at least for a little bit.

Yar. If you're there, Mr. Slanky, and we could have drinks and talk baseball with LegO', that would be sweet.

So who all is going to be coming to the meet and greet?

Dark Archive

I am planning to. Wise wolf has offered to pick me up I just need to coordinate.

Sovereign Court

I may be there later on (have had a conflict pop up).

Dark Archive

My fiance and I plan on being there, though we still have to figure out how we're getting there. Anyone from the hotel going that has room for two more?

Dark Archive

I am on a limited budget how expensive is the restaurant anyone know?

We'll be there, no later than seven.

Silver Crusade

Mine: they have a drink menu and food menu on their website. http://afkelixirsandeatery.com/

As for budgeting, I got your first drink. Their stock of Mac and Jacs is about to get Dalsine Affaired. >:)

Dark Archive

I'll be there, eventually.

Anyone willing to split the cost of a cab to get there and back?

Grand Lodge

I should be able to make it. Just need to figure out how to get there and budgeting

I might make it. I remember last year the cab was a bit pricey. For those that drive from hotel to afk. Maybe we can arrange departure time for hotel to ride share.

Dark Archive

I can carry three or four folks from the hotel to AFK.

Edit: And back to the hotel, obviously.

My fiance and I are also trying to figure out how to get there, so something like this would be nice. Then those with empty spots in their car (and willing to take people) could fill up, and if need be others could more easily find someone to split the cab cost to make it less pricey. What time would be ideal to muster?
