Dude, I love dragons. Dragons are awesome. If the choice is between them and wizards, people can play arcanists for all I care.
Also, I'll grapple the sinspawn. I can't breathe underwater.
Would you rather play a pirate game in the Shackles or a viking game in the Lands of the Linnorm Kings?
EDIT: IRL chuck weapon playing? Definitely watch, I'm not getting near something like that.

Rules lawyer. I like knowing the rules. And house rules are still a thing. If the players don't know the lore, I just make it up. While I use mythology a lot in my campaign setting, I don't stick to it completely.
(Unless by 'lore purist' you mean someone who demands you stick to the rules of the campaign setting you are playing in? 'cause that wouldn't bother me at all, I'd just play in a campaign setting which has everything I like.)
Would you rather play in a campaign in which all the PCs are racial paragon classes (from the In the Company Of series) or a campaign in which all the PCs are gnomes with martial adept classes (from Path of War/PoW Expanded)?

Vincent Takeda |

Well, i've already made this choice. Summoner for sure.
Would you rather people always jumped at the chance to follow your advice, only to find out later your advice/ideas were disastrous. Despite this they consistantly always continue to ardently seek and implement your advice, which yeilds the same disastrous results...
or
Nobody ever does what you suggest only to find out later that your ideas would have been better. Despite this pattern they continue never to take your advice or suggestions. When you split away from them and say 'I'm going to do it my way anyway' that decision still ends up going worse for you than anyone else.

Mountain! (Given altitudes, climes, and seasons where doing it's not difficult or harrowing: I've a family, you know!)
Mongrelfolk (3.5) or Mongrelman (PF)?
(Sorry about the quality the second. You can find a better picture here, but I'm unable to link directly too it. Weird how that image just isn't present on the internet!)

Trigger Loaded |

Isn't that an actual condition, where sensory stimulations work on multiple fronts?
Either way, while seeing sounds seems cool, hearing colours seems like its less likely to lead to sensory overload. So I'll go with the latter.
Would you rather be the first (wo)man to walk on Mars, or be financially secure for the rest of your life?

Trigger Loaded |

Tricky, but I'll go with magic item. It'll sting, but it can be replaced. That level, however, would always hurt.
For whatever reason, you are forcrd to become an undead creature. (In game) Would you rather your undead status gives you powers, but is obvious? (Let's say your a vampire who can never hide it, with super-pronounced fangs and a bestial appearance) or be completely indistinguishable, but have no powers? (But still read as evil with magic and be affected by Consecrate and the like?)

The latter, though I wouldn't be evil (which I could demonstrate by being equally affected by things that would afflict good). Relative immortality and looking like I'm alive is a super-power in itself!

False-call: the "cheating" is only in presenting it as an either or. For the purpose of the thread - and the rules established herin - it's perfectly legit! ;P
would you rather have melee attacks have a "flinch" effect, forcing daze on those who fail a fort save, or have mages be forced into a more blasty role, removing a lot of the save-or-die/suck
Flinch effect. It's more interesting, and I like the idea of martials having more options and effects as well.
Rejoice! A restricting FAQ is being overturned! ... but it's only one. Would you rather have the crane wing feats pre-nerf, would you rather have weapon cords restored to their original use, or would you rather have early-entry PrCs?

PathlessBeth |
I might have to start banning accusations of false-foul calls...
Crane Wing, because I don't know what it originally said, hence I cannot undo it via a house rule. I know what the weapon cord change is, and the prestige class 'change', so if I wanted to alter those I could.
Would you rather turn all feat chains individual feats which scale off BAB or feats which scale off skill ranks?

John Kretzer |

Um...both...combat feats should scale off BAB and non-combat feats should scale of skill ranks and to add one caster feats should scale Caster Level...if you are going to make me choose one though I guess scaling of BAB since most feats chains are Combat related.
Would you rather play with bunch of teens or a bunch of 50+ year olds?

Tacticslion |

Would you rather play with bunch of teens or a bunch of 50+ year olds?
Really hard question. I'd probably go with the teens, however, in the hopes that I "do it right" and help spark more interest in the hobby over-all.
Would you rather use Lego to create and enact your battle maps, or have to draw-and-erase everything by hand in pencil and pen?
Presuming you use battle maps. I, however, do not tend to do so well at this, either way.

Tacticslion |

Table top! By far!
Would you rather play Resident Evil: The Table Top (PF Edition, naturally) or Ico: The Table Top (still using PF rules)?
Note that both will be forced to some element of adaptation from either PF rules or game-presumptions, but the idea is that the PF rules form the basic chassis for the play-experience.

Tacticslion |

Not a zombie/virus infected mouth-breather fan, but Resident Evil, definitely. I'd enjoy destroying that bratty little computer!
Game at home (or equivalent) or at a FLGS?
HOME. (Stay-at-home dad of two kids - one three, and one four months, born 2 months prematurely).
Have PCs that constantly come up with unexpected or strange strategies that are really cool (if having unpredictable results); or have PCs that always "buy-in" to the degree that they want to make a singular, coherent story with you and share your vision (even if they don't know the plot elements before hand)?

Tacticslion |

Omg, Ico! I just finished that last week or thereabouts, because I'msuper latefashionably late to the party.
SO GOOD!
Would you rather face off with a Sea Serpent a la Moby Dick, or fight through Dante's version of Hell?
Hm... while it all depends on the level, and how similar, exactly, it is to those works.
Higher similarity -> Divine Comedy (as I'd be basically safe)
High level, mostly PF game -> Moby Dick (as that could be an interesting story-telling experience; figuring how to lure a creature immune to divinations)
QUASI-EDIT, do to NINJA
Aasimar, by far. Otherworldy characteristics, sure, but they don't look like standard presumptions of evil.
/QUASI-EDIT
Would you rather play a game based on the Kung Fu Panda series or the How to Train Your Dragon series (or, as a wild card, Mega Mind)?

Tacticslion |

Neverending Story (the film) is easier to play with kids around... >.>
Would you rather play a PF-TTRPG that was a direct lift of one of the Final Fantasy games (and if so, which one), or would you rather play a PF-TTRPG that was a direct lift of one of the Legend of Zelda games (and if so, which one)?

Legend of Zelda definitely, Twilight Princess would be preferable but I could roll with Ocarina of Time.
If you were to play a deific campaign(all PCs are deities or at least near deific demon lords and such) whom would you want in your party and who would be your enemy?

![]() |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

I would want my friends to be in the party. Our enemy would, as always, be the Gm controlled opponents :P
IN all seriousness: Gorum, Shelyn, Nethys, Caiden Cailean. Good, well-rounded party.
Would you rather: become an Aboleth cursed to live on dry land, or a Tarrasque which can only survive underwater?

Tacticslion |

Would you rather: become an Aboleth cursed to live on dry land, or a Tarrasque which can only survive underwater?
Aboleth (or, barring that, aboleth: decent mental scores and some time to learn means I could be a casty kind that gains alter self, thus be (myself)*, and enjoy neat mind-powers. I like living on the land, though I admit, becoming a cursed monster would rather suck, despite the nifty powers.
* Well, at least fairly similar to myself!
Would you rather be evil and gain free wishes from efreeti each day (under the efreeti's whim), but be forced to serve said efreeti; or be good but be forced to fight an efreeti and its wish-slaves?
(Wild Card: be neutral, but still be forced to serve said efreeti, and not gain any wishes?)

Jerry Wright 307 |
Evil with wishes. At least I'd be happy in that scenario (and with the wishes, eventually the scenario would change!)
Would you rather play in a low-magic, low-level game set in a real historical past (your choice) or play in a high-magic, high-level game set in a magical fantasy world of your worst enemy's choice?

Tacticslion |

Hah! You fell into the efreeti's trap! ... but it could be interesting!
Would you rather play in a low-magic, low-level game set in a real historical past (your choice) or play in a high-magic, high-level game set in a magical fantasy world of your worst enemy's choice?
It heavily depends on what you mean by "your worst enemy" and a "world of <their> choice".
That said, probably the former. While I love me some high-magic and high-level, some fun games can be had either way, and I'm not too fond of someone choosing or developing a setting that is nothing but "spite you" for me (though any of the D&D or PF officially published settings don't bother me at all).
Would you rather go through a game with young kids, or a game with grizzled elderly?

Jerry Wright 307 |
I think this one was sort of asked, with teens and grogs, but...
I'll say the grizzled elderly. It's been a long time since I played with my peers :D.
Would you rather be plunked into a fantasy world in the body of a human or of what we used to call a demi-human (elf, dwarf, halfling, etc.), and if so, which type?

Tacticslion |

I think this one was sort of asked, with teens and grogs, but...
I'll say the grizzled elderly. It's been a long time since I played with my peers :D.
My intent was to further that disparity - not teens and grogs, but actual pre-teen children or elderly; though unclear (my apologies) I was trying to get the idea of "new to the game, but able to think, understand, and follow the rules".
Would you rather be plunked into a fantasy world in the body of a human or of what we used to call a demi-human (elf, dwarf, halfling, etc.), and if so, which type?
The latter, though again it's a bit vague as I'm not sure if you're suggesting only the player races in the era of "demi-human" terminology, or if all other (current) player races are allowed.
To answer "safely", I'd say elf. Otherwise, half-elf or even aasimar. Shade, if I could.
Would you rather play games with electronic devices allowed, or without?

Jerry Wright 307 |
Would you rather play games with electronic devices allowed, or without?
I'll go ahead and say with, although it truly depends greatly as to the purpose for which those devices are used. If all they are is a way to access the game books, and maybe Herolab or some other bookkeeping program, great. But texting and distracting is a no-no.
Would you rather play a campaign set entirely at sea or one set entirely on land (or, as a bonus, one set entirely in the air in flying ships or the like.)

Jerry Wright 307 |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Air in Flying ships and such...always wanted to play such a game...came close once.
Would you rather play a Cavalier in 1st AD&D or PF?
This, for me is a no-brainer. AD&D is my favorite system, even if the Cavalier isn't my favorite character.
As far as air ships are concerned... They are a staple in my campaigns. My players treat them as the plague. Only one or two of them want to have anything to do with them.
Would you rather be taken prisoner by orcs or by an Ogre Mage?
