[PFS] Oread as a Crystal Gem!

Hey all, I have an Oread boon for Pathfinder Society play, and I'm trying to figure out what kind of character to make with it. I thought it would be interesting to try to make something like the Crystal Gems from the show Steven Universe.

For those of you unfamiliar with the show, some of the things I'd like to be able to do with this character could include:
-Decent melee combat ability (perhaps with a sort of Signature Weapon)
-Shape-shifting
-Rock themes?
-Magical enhancements to weapons/armor
-Other magic (each Gem tends to have unique powers, so this is kind of open ended)

It seems like a druid would be the obvious choice for these sorts of abilities, and the Oread has great stats for it, but I'm wondering if there's a way to achieve something similar without incorporating so much of a nature theme.

If I do go the druid route, what would you all recommend, aside from reading the various guides about them? Also, would the Oread's Earth Affinity or Fertile Soil abilities (quoted below) apply to druids with the appropriate domains?

You can reasonably get some types of shapeshifting with Alchemist or Barbarian. Heck, if you really wanted to be more magical, you could do Magus or Transmuter Wizard->Eldritch Knight.

Honestly, I think that Magus is really what you'd be aiming at based on what I'm seeing.

Any other suggestions?

I think I'd be looking for more supernatural abilities than spells, necessarily. Although perhaps that's just an issue of fluff vs crunch.


Warpriest has sacred weapon which makes your weapon increase in power as you level and it has abilities that let you enhance your weapon and armor as you level up.


I second Warpriest, Oreads have a feat that makes their speed not be reduced by heavy armor that they love.

Magus would work as well, though wouldn't be optimal.

And by RAW, I don't believe the Oread's racial traits that give bonuses based on domains would sork for a druid.


Agreed, ShadowcatX, it says 'clerics' which means no druids really. Of course, one could play a druid-like cleric with nature-based domains, but it wouldn't quite be a druid.


Well, the nature bond ability does state that "When determining the powers and bonus spells granted by this domain, the druid's effective cleric level is equal to her druid level."

Effectively a cleric sounds like it works to me.


....I just want to bring up Flesh Gems, just to give your character a bit of costuming.

Just embed them into your forehead, chest, hands, or belly button. Or Your rear, elbow, or ear...if you are making an original character. Heh.


The ability says explicitly that oread clerics are affected by this. That's all. No oreads that are not clerics can benefit. If it weren't PFS I'd recommend asking the GM for a houserule, but PFS takes rules pretty literally. "Oread clerics get X." That means that Oread inquisitors, paladins, druids, warpriests, oracles, etc. do not get X.

Thanks for the help everyone! I've decided to go with Warpriest, and I think it would be interesting to try out the Sacred Fist archetype. Here's the general plan:

I like the Oread-specific feats, but I'm open to suggestions. I figure that I can style the various self-buffs I'll have as a Warpriest as the Gem's unique weapons (I'm thinking about mainly styling my Improved Unarmed Strike as kicks). I also feel like Sacred Fist, even though it doesn't have the same signature weapon feel, it's pretty close, and heavy armor doesn't really mesh with the idea I'm going for. Pummeling Charge definitely has more Crystal Gem flair, I feel.
