Mine is of Darl Quethos from the AOW adventure path. I'm finally starting this bad boy again after a 1 year hiatus and as the party is getting into the final leg of the AP, I decided to update accordingly.
Some are serious, some are funny, some even a little bizarre.
Is your avatar your favorite NPC from an AP or module?
Do they phyiscally represent your favorite PC or maybe what you envision yourself as in the RPG world?
How long have you had your current portrait?

Jack Assery |

Mine is just one of the cooler ones that I saw in my opinion. The mean eyes contrasted with the colorful hair and face paint makes it feel really good; kind of a Ledger Joker feel to it. I don't even remember what AP it's from, just that I sought it out specifically and hoped they had it available. I know my handle comes from my favorite character I played, kind of the Old Man Jenkins of our game table, a Halfling rogue named Jack Assery, or the
Jack of Asses as he was later called.
I don't know what either say about me but I am curious.

This is the... fourth avatar I've had, if memory serves.
Started out with the blue Cryohydra. Mostly picked it because it was rarely used. This was way, way back when there was no avatar sorting system and most of them weren't labeled so I didn't know what it was or where it was from, it just looked like a cool blue dragon-y thing.
Swapped for a fairly short time to Xotani. I like fire more than ice so once I learned what the blue one was I felt like a change. Also that was right when the first batch of brand-new Pathfinder art got finally put into the avatar system - everything prior to that was Dungeon/Dragon Magazine stuff.
Went with Chief Sootscale for about a year, because kobolds are awesome.
And now this gunslinger elf. Mostly picked her because I liked the hat, coat, and goggles. That and I play female characters all the time.
Mostly just waiting for a freakin' Keketar avatar.
I have a bazillion aliases, if I want to represent some character I've made or something I just make another one =)

I liked the one with the kobold.

This is the Jester presented alongside the 3.5 Jester prestige class from one of the April issues of Dragon magazine (back when it was a paper publication). It was also displayed alongside a Jester base class in the 3.5 Dragon Compendium.
The "scary clown" is said to be a manifestation of the simultaneous ecstasy and terror experienced by many at the dawn of the 21st Century AD. You might say I happen to embody some of the reasons for those feelings.
It is also apparently one of the most-used avatars on these forums (although I've wound up seeing only a few others). This is why I flirted with several other avatars for a time, but settled on this one because in spite of the many pretenders, I understand the meaning of "wore it best."
Also, Malcolm the Jester from the Legend of Kyrandia series is one of my all-around favorite computer game characters of all time!

Favorite iconic from the Dragon/Dungeon era
I love tieflings
And I love that expression. It reminds me of how I'd rather be when moods turn sour and the temptation to be bitter or caustic arises.
(also I love seeing artwork of tieflings actually being happy)
And also that redheads are the hotness :P
As for mine. I dunno that it says much about me, I just happened to like the quickling artwork.

First, I went with rarely used avatars for a while. Then I found this one, apparently a priestess of Mammon from some module or AP installment. It is an exquisite image, with the obscene head shell, the hanging pieces of fabric that look like someone's drapes had a bad day, and her disapproving expression is lovely, precisely on the verge of a caricature. It properly reflects how I feel here only rarely. :-)

I like Monks. Or more specifically, characters who bet things with their fists.

That guy's from Carrion Crown. He's a prick.
Can't wait for my PCs to meet him. Which should be soon.

Also very few other avatars would go so well with that name.
Oh, that, and I originally thought the name up when I got onboard Wizards of the Coast's forums in the 3rd Edition era - and my avatar there was from a later edition of the Jester's Cap Magic: The Gathering card, one which was a little more maniacal than the guy in the original art, who looked more like he belonged on a bottle of Paul Newman's spaghetti sauce than Hiding In Your Closet.

I am a god of chaos and freedom.
You're also a cultist of Razmir I believe. :P
I am a kobold with an iron claw on my hand.
Not really, but I like kobolds, and the pose is cool.
Yeah, I got you and Orthos confused for a long time when I first started trolling the boards.

Probably didn't help that I used Icy's avatar on one of my aliases for a while.

KestrelZ |

I have an interest in Egyptian Mythology, and liked the facial expression.
As for my name "Kestrel" was taken. I wanted "Z" as a sort of last name, yet underscores and spaces seem to be beyond me so it smashed together as KestrelZ. Makes it sound like the mashed up band names kids give themselves these days, but what can you do?

Vincent Takeda |

That I'm an even crankier older guy who yells at the kids with their web-pods and their e-phones and their rap-hop music to get off his lawn?
I gravitate to the old and wise mentor type galdalfy style wizard characters. This wizard's look combines disapproving but curious and also maybe a little tired. Totally how I feel about the forums most of the time.
