Question: Do the swashbukler and the Daring Champion cavalier(Archetype) apply for the Signature deed feat?

Swashbuckler definitely does. It's even referenced in the class writeup.

Haven't taken a look at the Cavalier Archetype, yet.

Daring Champion specifically says that it gains the swashbuckler's panache class feature.

The swashbuckler class says that "for the purpose of feat prerequisites, a character with the panache class feature satisfies the prerequisites as if she were a grit user, and vice versa."

So yes.

Ah. I see the dilemma:

Signature Deed wrote:
Prerequisite: Grit class feature, gunslinger level 11th

Yet I know the Swashbuckler class references Signature Deed (I just don't have it on me to reference right now).

In fact the book has call out boxes that specify Luck, Panache and Grit are all the same resource, no matter what stat they are derived from and they all stack together for one giant pool. Also, any feat to affect any one of them affects all three. Makes for interesting options in a high point buy or rolled stat game where a little multiclassing can net you GIANT point pools. Mysterious Stranger gunslinger following by a Daring Champion or Swashbuckler gets you 2x Cha mod of points. I'd recommend the dip after level 4 or 5 depending on what class you want for your main one.

Yes! You understood my dilemma precisely!

Oh poop. Why did you have to go and point that out? That has to be something that was taken for granted in the office and they just forgot to spell out in the book... right? Please?

Sczarni

Something like that.

Maybe because the Swashbuckler's parent classes are Fighter and Gunslinger?

haha, well maybe since a gunslinger is a grit user you count as full levels of gunslinger for fear prereqs.

During the playtest, I'm pretty sure that hybrid classes counted as their base classes for feat requirements. I could be wrong, though, and I haven't seen the final print for lack of interest.

That's exactly what it means. Otherwise that block of text would be pointless and should have said, "The panache class feature counts as the grit class feature and vice versa when meeting the prerequisites of feats."
