Who are we?
The Kabal is an extended family, looking out for each other and anyone else that we decide needs looking after, sometimes through a mutual agreement, and sometimes because we said so. Success derives itself from a set of core values, that govern the guild. We strive not only to be unified and have fun! As with any successful guild, member participation is key.We are a community of adult, mature (some more than others lawl), veteran gamers. Below are some of our core guild goals, rules, policies etc... that prospective members should know before joining.
Where are we going?
We have members waiting to dominate Trade, Crafting, Magic, Ass-Kickery, drinking until you can't stand, Wenching, whatever the female version of wenching is called, Warfare, and laying down the law (for the laws that don't suck anyway). We intend to have our hands into a little of everything. What specifically we 'specialize' in is not set in stone. Obviously it will depend on where we end up, what resources are available to us, who our friendly neighbors are, and how many people in the guild want to do any one thing.
Our current goal is, to have fun and play PFO as a team continuing to beat all new challenges implemented by the developers. To run outstanding events for our members. To adventure together and have a great time doing it. And to continue to add value to the PFO community at every opportunity. As for why you would want to join us, if you want a excellent group of friends to enjoy this game with, and a group that will push your skills, and help you pursue whatever weird *** goal you decide to come up with. This is them.
Political Goals/Alignments? Military/Protection, Magic/Research, Craft/Trade, Politics (being a crappy bard).
As for general alignment, or political/social intentions. We are all looking to be good in general, but nobody is perfect. We will make alliances or go to war as makes sense or is necessary. We are a mature group of individuals looking to be a have some fun and be a little crazy, but not to be anonymous online jerks who make people want to quit the game. In fact that's one of the few things we will kick you out and kill you repeatedly for. That all being said we are going to be NG in alignment doesn't mean we won't take just NG characters, but that is our primary alignment however for you evil folks best to look elsewhere.

Hard to believe that in a little over 2 days we will be in our last week of fighting for settlements.
I see big changes on the horizon! [cue ominous music!] Late Monday [because Lee said he would be late on Monday] we will see the Beginning of the End!
and then ...
[cue more ominous music]
The End of the Beginning [Tower Wars that is]

Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'
Keep movin', movin', movin',
Though they're disapprovin',
Keep them Settlers movin' Ka-bal!
Don't try to understand 'em,
Just rope and throw and grab 'em,
Soon we'll be living high and wide.
Boy my heart's calculatin'
My true love will be waitin', be waiting at the end of my ride.
Move 'em on, head 'em up,
Head 'em up, move 'em out,
Move 'em on, head 'em out Ka-bal!
Set 'em out, ride 'em in
Ride 'em in, let 'em out,
Cut 'em out, ride 'em in Ka-bal.

"For your information, there's a lot more to Kabal than people think."
"Example?"
"Example... uh... Kabalans are like onions!"
"They stink?"
"Yes... No!"
"Oh, they make you cry?"
"No!"
"Oh, you leave 'em out in the sun, they get all brown, start sproutin' little white hairs..."
"NO! Layers. Onions have layers. Kabalans have layers. Onions have layers. You get it? We both have layers."
"Oh, you both have LAAAAAAYERS. Oh.--You know, not everybody like onions. What about cake? Everybody loves cake!"
"I don't care what everyone else likes! Kabalans are not like cakes."
"You know what ELSE everybody likes? Cookies! Have you ever met a person, you say, "Let's get some cookies," they say, "Hell no, I don't like no cookies"? Cookies are delicious!
"Okay, Maybe Kabalans are like cookies, too,"

ED: You see a well groomed garden. In the middle, on a small hill, you
see a gazebo.
ERIC: A gazebo? What color is it?
ED: (Pause) It's white, Eric.
ERIC: How far away is it?
ED: About 50 yards.
ERIC: How big is it?
ED: (Pause) It's about 30 ft across, 15 ft high, with a pointed top.
ERIC: I use my sword to detect good on it.
ED: It's not good, Eric. It's a gazebo.
ERIC: (Pause) I call out to it.
ED: It won't answer. It's a gazebo.
ERIC: (Pause) I sheathe my sword and draw my bow and arrows. Does it
respond in any way?
ED: No, Eric, it's a gazebo!
ERIC: I shoot it with my bow (roll to hit). What happened?
ED: There is now a gazebo with an arrow sticking out of it.
ERIC: (Pause) Wasn't it wounded?
ED: OF COURSE NOT, ERIC! IT'S A GAZEBO!
ERIC: (Whimper) But that was a +3 arrow!
ED: It's a gazebo, Eric, a GAZEBO! If you really want to try to
destroy it, you could try to chop it with an axe, I suppose, or you
could try to burn it, but I don't know why anybody would even try.
It's a @#$%!! gazebo!
ERIC: (Long pause. He has no axe or fire spells.) I run away.
ED: (Thoroughly frustrated) It's too late. You've awakened the gazebo.
It catches you and eats you.
ERIC: (Reaching for his dice) Maybe I'll roll up a fire-using mage so
I can avenge my Paladin.
At this point, the increasingly amused fellow party members restored a modicum of order by explaining to Eric what a gazebo is. Thus ends the tale of Eric and the Dread Gazebo. It could have been worse; at least the gazebo wasn't on a grassy gnoll.

You should announce your alliance to coincide with Golgotha's next announcement the Evergloom Alliance.
I already did that when I suggested starting a settlement named "Blighthaven" many months ago, before TEO went public with their Brighthaven settlement name.
Weird coincidence I'd say ;-}

One large settlement equals 12+ towers in the Tower Wars and an almost guarantee of finding at least six other folks from your settlement online practically all the time to adventure with. :-)
Imagine... enough of the people in your own settlement online to form a party.
Weird.

While you do address some definitive positives to having a large community, there are other factors as well to consider.
If all the settlements around you are small, they won't be of much value to anyone. That's not a personal judgment, it's a fact. Their training will be worse than what you can get in a starter town.
No matter how big you get, you can only train two roles. We will all need other settlements to round out our training. And those settlements need to be large as well or the training they are offering won't be worth squat.
<Kabal> Sunnfire Goblin Squad Member |
Presuming you limit your time frame to EE.
Traveling for training is not a big deal, I will have to do so out of our initial settlement, so I'm not 'just saying' that.
Having friends and neighbors is great, but it does not substitute for being internally strong yourselves.
That and you can become your own neighbors in OE. Or sooner presuming some of these little settlements follow the path predicted by the devs.
Bringslite of Fidelis Goblin Squad Member |
Traveling to train, is what it is. We will all have to do some of it. The only drawbacks (or problem issues) that I see are:
1. You DO or will need places to train that match yours in level.
2. Early training is when the most trips are required to and from that distant trainer.
Many of us will have to deal with it, so it is not THE WORST. It may get irritating, of course.

Yeah I didn't say it was a substitute. I'm saying having a group that can hold 8 towers by you and you can hold 8 towers is better than you holding 12 with no one else around for other training.
Starter towns only go up to 3rd level I believe, so advancing past that will require going to another settlement if your spot doesn't offer it.
As for OE, there's no way I'm talking that far in the future. For starters that's over a year + out and so much can change. The map will hopefully expand and people will be moving to other spots anyways, voluntarily or not
<kabal> Bunibuni Goblin Squad Member |
Yes! We are having a conversation! Not just trying to remind folks we are here and that they should join Kabal. :-)
I'm in-between this, though I want Kabal much bigger, because there is no guarantee that the towns next to you who can hold 6+ towers will be friendly towns. They could be hostile to you. We won't know until week 10 ends.
But I do believe that there is strength in numbers. So having a large settlement is a good thing.
Caldeathe Baequiannia Goblin Squad Member |
We won't know until week 10 ends.
It all boils down to this. We can hope and pray and wheel and deal all we want, but until the count closes at midnight PDT this coming Sunday night, all of our birds are in the bush.
(except the LR1 teams, whose positions I'm sure we are forgiven for coveting)
