One librarian to rule them all
One librarian to find them
One librarian to bring them all
And in the darkness bind them.
Hi I'm Meridoc you may remember me from "the law offices of Meridoc Esquire" and "New vacations in beautiful lawful Cheliax."
I'm here at an undisclosed location for the grand opening of the Darkive. Yes its one word for those in the know. Its early but the tents are already starting to line up from the faithful. Maybe well get some interviews from those in line of their hopes and dreams of the best little adult bookstore in Absolom.

Soo... you're hoping for a complaint department. That's a novel idea would you say it was staffed with friendly customer service agents ready to help you in every legal manner possible? Or were you envisioning a black spiky door holding deathtrap oozes?
Hey, maybe I can help out. As a public defender and a Signifier of the order of the Scourge surely there must be a way to maintain your standing with the hellknights. As I recall they operate outside of Cheliax proper so we may have a case.
Cho'gal |
So, my name is Cho'gal. This *gesturing toward a lion-sized demonic feline nearby, which glares around in undisguised hatred* is Garrosh. We're sort of... stuck together. An old deal one of my orcish ancestors made. I've been with the Sczarni for a while now - I was raised by a Sczarni operative who knew some magic and recognized that I wasn't crazy when I talked to an invisible demon, just a potential summoner. I like working for the Sczarni, and their brand of getting things done appeals to me. I've never big a big fan of the law, really, preferring to just get by, and it's not like half-orcs are well treated by most guards.
It's just that, well, I've been working for the Sczarni for a while now, and I don't feel like I'm any closer to breaking free of this demon that's bound to my soul. They're decent people, sure, but am I getting what I want out of it? It seems like the Dark Archive might be the place to look to find out how to break a generations-old pact with a demonic entity that's bound to my bloodline.
With the Sczarni partnering up with Qadira - and really, it feels like they're taking over our business interests - I'm a little concerned that it may be time to find a new home.

"I, too, have been with the Sczarni since my youth, long before joining the Pathfinder Society. I grew up in Riddleport, and once the magic in my blood revealed itself, I went to the bosses whose 'business dealings' I'd been overhearing for years and offered my services."
"The 'family' has been good to me over the years, but I'm interested in power, not wealth. This new arrangement with the Qadirans to become trade princes or whatever just isn't the reason I joined the Sczarni, or the Pathfinder Society."
"I think Paracountess Dralneen is more my type of woman, at least in terms of understanding power, and how to acquire and control it. This Dark Archive venture seems interesting, and might suit me better than staying loyal to that fool, Guaril."

"I seem similar stories to my own." *cough* *cough*
"I haven't been with the society to find knowledge, treasure, or adventure but a way to remove the curses the gods decided to cast upon me when I was born."
"I joined with Guaril for a few reasons the smallest of which was the Varisian blood he and my mother shared. More importantly was that I thought his group of contacts would keep me informed of any rumors of a way to remove my powers."
*hack* *cough*
"I have known the chances have been small, but I have no intent on just accepting my fate. I have heard the rumors of Guaril joining with the Trade Prince. If so good for him, but trade and coin have never been what I wanted."
"But the Dark Archive as they have grown might have a better chance at getting what I need with artifacts and rituals. I am not certain. I don't care for the matter of order in the world and there is little else the Paracountess has offered me that have ever been interested in. If she can offer me a chance to get what I seek though, I can work with her."
*cough* *cough*
"I am not angry with Guaril. No more than anyone else. As he always has, he will be doing what is best for himself just like I have for myself."
*cough* *wheeze*
"And if this rumored Exchange finds an answer to my problem. I hope that he remember his cousin as they look for a buyer."

I have loved my time working with Paracountess Zarta Dralneen, but it seems her aims may be moving away for the type of power and influence I wish to wield. I will treasure working with allies of the Paracountess though, especially if they deliver messages to her for me. Zarta has been quite helpful for me achieving much of my success, including joining the Order of the Chain and becoming a Marquise among other titles, that my herald would love to share. I will always care for the Paracountess, and remember fondly her embrace after I rescued her from hell. I also look forward to the day that I can return the traitor Desmire to Cheliax in chains. My goals however, seem to be more closely aligned with The Sovereign Host and I think I shall be joining them. I wish to extend my influence as much as possible, and I think that using my noble ties will be the most effective avenue for this.

Dr. Meridoc Darkive MD. It has a nice ring to it. So many wonderful ideas you all have. A Darkive medical wing has wonderful PR and we get to study and collect samples of various illnesses. Could be useful.
Jasmine dear being a double agent is a novel career choice. But this is the interview line for the Darkive.
The line for knocking Mr. D starts way over in Egorian circles round Kaer Maga loops Irisen makes a stop off in Opara and finishes somewhere over in Mwangi. I have it on good opinion he will be tried, just not in any mortal court.

I am still a loyal Chelish servant. Our dear Zarta is the one that no longer works for them. While I think that her future goals and mine don't quite match, I certainly have no ill will toward her or any that will continue to work with her.
As for Mr. D, I have just delivered him to the Paracountess, bound in chains as any criminal should be. It would be my pleasure for one such as you to serve as his prosecutor. You come highly recommended as a lawyer.

No my dear I'll represent him of course. I ensure that all defendants get a fair trail before they are dispatched and likely raised as a zombie to perform community services.) Its a sacrifice I make for the community.
Hey Mr. D I think we have a good case, (sense motive 10+2=12) (Result have you picked out a casket yet.)

One can only assume that Chelaxian morality comes into play when referring how the currently leadership in Cheliax deal with their historical records when they do not work in favor of House Thrune.
From the bits and pieces I have heard, I am glad that those who control Cheliax have shown their true colors and treated the Paracountess the level of respect I expect of them. Without that provocation she would have remained little more than a lackey languishing within that land of lies. Apologies for any offense to the Paracountess, but the disrespect House Thrune holds for history ruffles my feathers.
When the time comes I will consider aiding the Dark Archives in their goals because all knowledge is critical in our analysis of the world we live in. Although, the group may be too focused on the power those spells grant as opposed to the context of how those spells were developed for my own taste.

A fair trial is of course his due, and your commitment to the law is admirable.
I have personally gathered most of the evidence that will damn him, and am quite convinced of his guilt.

Ah, even Glorymane is quite amused at your assurances of a good case. I do eagerly await to see this trial.
